How to Plan the Perfect Trip to Zermatt, Switzerland

"A classic chalet‑style hotel located conveniently near the town train station and the viewpoint railway; it offers full‑service spa amenities including sauna, pool and hot tubs, appealing to guests seeking traditional mountain lodging combined with wellness facilities." - Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca Stacey Leasca is an award-winning journalist and co-founder of Be a Travel Writer, an online course for the next generation of travel journalists. A very nice and quaint resort with good size of rooms. I recently stayed there with my family of 4 and they had said that the rooms are only 20m2 but in fact they are quite big. The resort is very cosy in itself and has 2 good restaurants. The staff named Antonella from Italy is a delight as she helped us get a table on both nights when her manager who was super rude and clearly refused us to give a table despite staying in the hotel and despite there being a lot of empty tables around. She made our experience very smooth when her manager was being very difficult and throwing attitude.

We had a lovely stay here for 10 nights half board. The view from our room 405 was simply breathtaking of the Matterhorn, offering a stunning panorama of the surrounding mountains. The spa facilities provided a sanctuary of relaxation, with a variety of treatments and amenities to enjoy. Every aspect of the experience was exceptional, creating an atmosphere of pure bliss and rejuvenation. The food at the resort was a culinary delight, with each dish prepared and presented with care. Wifi was excellent too. Overall, it was a truly memorable stay.

What a beautiful place! With a cabin lodge feel, The accommodations were beautiful and tastefully done. The staff/ service was excellent and they went above and beyond. Definitely our Favorite place during our three week trip through Europe. We will definitely stay at Alpine resort and spa again should we return to Zermatt.

Location s good - walking distance from the train station but when you leave e the hotel to catch the train, suggest you ask the reception to arrange the complimentary pick up as the way to train station from hotel is slightly uphill. You can see Matterhorn from the hotel grounds. Also we booked an entry room and were upgraded to a room located in the building where the spa is and with beautiful views of snow capped mountains and the Matterhorn. The room is big and quiet with bathrobes and slippers for wellness access where there’s a whirlpool, swimming pool and gym and play area for younger ones. There’s also an outdoor jacuzzi. The breakfast was very good with warm soup served. There’s 2 restaurants opened even though it was low season in November. Very good hotel.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, we've just spent 11 nights there and it was a fantastic experience! The room was spacious modern and spotlessly clean, we had a large balcony with a fantastic view of the Matterhorn. We had the half board option which consisted of a buffet breakfast which was extensive and had a fantastic choice of hot and cold options, and a five course evening meal which was of the highest quality. The staff at the hotel are absolutely brilliant, there isn't anything they won't do to make your stay the best experience possible. The hotel is in fantastic location a short walk from the main railway station and Gonergrat Bahn. The facilities at the hotel are great too, games room, comprehensive array of spa treatments, fantastic heated indoor pool with Jacuzzi, and an outdoor Jacuzzi too! Thanks again to all the the staff at the Alpen resort for your fantastic service and for making our stay so fantastic 😍

Google
Couldn’t recommend this place any higher. We were late in and the hotel staff were lovely and still cooked us a meal last closing time in the restaurant. The rooms are very nice, modern and clean. The spa and pool are great and it is only a very short walk to the town with a shuttle service as well. Very good!

Not worth the package they make you pay. Service staff is questionable. Food in both restaurants is questionable. The rooms are barely renovated. The cleanliness is not there for sure. They have a luggage storage and ski locker that might be useful.

Headline: Ubiquitously grumpy and inconsiderate front-of-house staff spoil what is otherwise a very pleasant hotel. Staff on the whole could be best described as arrogant, particularity the ones at the front desk (except the blonde German lady 30-ish with the short fringe) - she seamed quite nice - promote her). We also sensed a lot of tension between he staff. They would interrupt one another, and managers were quite rude to their subordinates, speaking to them very abruptly. It wasn't just the grown ups who commented on the negative atmosphere our kids mentioned it too without being prompted to do so. I think the "low-light" for me was being told by bar staff that if I wanted a glass of water, I could go at get one myself from the breakfast room (we were paying for breakfast), and then I got told off for going in to the breakfast room by a separate member of staff in there. They did this in a sarcastic manner without turning to speak to me . . . . if a stranger knocked on the door to my house I would providedthem with a glass of water if they asked (with a smile). It is _the_most simple gesture of hospitality. . . yet lacking in in this "perfect" 4 star hotel. However, compliments to the chef BTW the evening meals were very good. We loved the duck & the lamb. We could all tell you really care about you job, and want guests to enjoy the food. You are succeeding! Bottom line: The managerial / clerical staff were the rudest we have encountered in any hotel we have stayed in. I run a company myself and my guess would be is that you have a "bad apple" at the top of the management structure (perhaps there out of grace and favor rather than merit) and their bad attitude permeates down through the hierarchy. Just a guess. . .

Yelp
I am not paid to do this review, but if you can coming to Zematt, you need to stay here. Right in your room patio you can have a splendid view of the Matterhorn!

Yelp
Front desk is very helpful. He helped.make arrangement for taxi and parking at the sister hotel in another city nearby. Recommended.

Yelp
Book here now. We were in the "C" building on the second floor and it was incredibly! I can't even begin to tell you how happy we were with our room, our view and the service. They have a wonderful restaurant downstairs that has similar prices that most hotels in the area have. There's also a spa/pool downstairs that offers complete relaxation after a long day of travel or skiing. The staff was great and so was the room. Loved it!
