Hotel Alpha Fribourg: A Comfortable Stay with Exceptional Service Hotel Alpha in Fribourg offers a very good location, especially if you're looking to be close to the train station and the city center. Access to the hotel is well-secured, and the fact that between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM, access is only possible with a room key is a good touch that adds to guest security. The staff at Hotel Alpha are incredibly attentive. A special shout-out goes to Rada, who was making coffee and hosting breakfast on the first day. She was very polite and attentive, ensuring a pleasant start to the day. Sabrina from reception was also a star. As a Brit, I brought my own teabags, only to realise there was no kettle in my room. Sabrina promptly organised a kettle and even some milk/crema for my tea – excellent service! The breakfast was good, scoring an 8 out of 10. While the quality was there, a larger selection of items would have been appreciated. On the downside, the lack of air conditioning was a significant issue, particularly as the room temperature reached a scorching 36 degrees centigrade (96.8 Fahrenheit). A fridge in the room would also have been ideal for keeping water and other drinks cold, especially given the heat. Another point for improvement is the hotel's email communication after booking. Before I booked, my queries were answered right away. However, once I had booked (with the intention of paying upon arrival), I sent a couple of emails closer to my travel date and unfortunately received no reply, which was disappointing. In summary, I would recommend Hotel Alpha if you prioritise being close to the city center and the train station. While there are other accommodation options in Fribourg depending on your budget, I was overall happy with the service received. The hotel was recommended by the organisers of the conference I attended, and despite some minor drawbacks, I would reconsider staying here again in the near future.

No air conditioning in the rooms and it’s really getting hot and sticky in summer, defect ventilators only, bathroom very small with cheap inventory and a view to an ugly backyard. The rooms look modern and ok, but elevators and garage very old, unfriendly and tiny. Extremely low number of power outlets in the room. Staff at reception speaks only little English and is not willed to understand and support. Breakfast selection very limited but good, but service not great. Overall does absolutely not meet business hotel standards, more lower budget, I definitely expect more for €160 per night for 1 person.

This is close to the train station full stop like many places in Switzerland. It does not have air-conditioning. It was a hot summer so with windows open it was also quite loud.||Very decent breakfast and welcoming staff. We had one of the two studios. It was very spacious, clean and had a small kitchenette.||Highly recommended if you have to be in Fribourg

I arrived at the hotel at the end pf the day, walking from the train station. The reception is not on the ground floor. So I took the elevator to get there. Check-in was smooth. The room was however very depressing. Small, with little natural light, and no real privacy since the building on the other side of the narrow street looks very close. |Since there is no restaurant in the evening, I had to go out for dinner. Breakfast was however OK. But next time, I'll find another hotel, even a bit further from the centre.

For an overnight stay in Fribourg I chose Hotel Alpha and it definitely was very good value for money. From Fribourg train station it is a 10-minute walk to the hotel, which is located on a quiet street. Just don’t be put off by the building that reminds me of something from the 70s.||The greatest asset is the staff, both at reception and during breakfast - smiling, friendly and very helpful. This is genuine hospitality. ||||I chose the most basic room - a standard single room - and therefore did not have many expectations. The room was small - as in most hotels in Fribourg - but quite ok for one night, and spotlessly clean. Bed was comfortable. Strangely, there is a massive pillar in the middle of the room (see picture): disturbing at first, but you quickly get used to it. ||The breakfast room is bright and airy. The buffet itself was great, both in quantity and quality, and included rösti, homemade marmalade, local cheese. ||||I will remember this hotel for any future stay in Fribourg.

The hotel's location is excellent and the hotel is very quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you for your warm welcome and surprise treat for the kids at Easter time at the end of the stay! A buffet breakfast is available during the pandemic, so we were grateful for that. Thank you. In the room, we found the bed and pillows not so comfortable and the lighting rather dim with little available daylight. Whatsmore, in our room, the shower gel bottles in our room were almost empty and although we stayed 2 nights, they were not filled up on Day 2. And lastly, the underground parking is rather cramped.

Alpha is a charming little hotel in a quiet residential neighborhood a stone throw’s away from Fribourg’s train station, and quite close to a shopping center and a number of restaurants and supermarkets. It’s a small but pleasant place. I have no complaints except for the size, which seems to be an issue with hotels in Fribourg generally. My room was quite tiny but generally functional and pleasant to stay in. The room was clean, the furniture new and stylish. The staff was very helpful. Among other things, they gave me a map and a city guide to help me get around. Overall, a good experience.

The hotel would probably rate a 3.5 if possible. ||Positive: Very friendly staff at reception, convenient and fair priced parking, room modern and clean.||Why not rated a 4? A 4 would reflect a "very good" rating and it would take the hotel management to add a little touch of surprise here or there to be "very good". Everything is OK, but not more. Room in bland colours (grey, brown), no touch of any emotions anywhere. Wallpaper behind bed provides impression of leather, however is simply an economical furnishing. Small fridge in the room, but empty. Shampoo from cheap dispenser. View from window, nothing to talk about at all (something that can't be changed). In other words, a hotel OK for one night.
