Hotel Alte Schule Lindau/Bodensee

Wonderful stay, room 9 was spacious and we loved it. Breakfast was excellent, real attention to detail and eggs cooked as you wanted, really professional and friendly. The owners are great, really friendly and informative, they have an excellent hotel in a great location and we would definitely stay again. They don't have many visitors from the UK apparently so we would encourage you to visit.

What a great place. Lovely friendly family run hotel. Comfortable, spacious, spotlessly clean rooms. Photos don't do it justice. Everything looked brand new. Great breakfast and a perfect location. If I return to Lindau I will be staying here.

We had a delightful two night stay at the Alte Schule Hotel while doing some hiking in the region. It’s centrally located on the island and the accommodation is modern, very clean and spacious. We were warmly welcomed at this family-run hotel and the staff were always friendly and very helpful. The room had lovely touches such as towels to bring to the beach as well as flip flops. While the building is historical, it had all the modern conveniences such as air conditioning and beautiful furniture and fittings to ensure a comfortable stay. There are a great deal of restaurants and cafes nearby as well as a supermarket. The ferry terminal and island train station were an easy 7 minute walk from the hotel. Check in was simple using an app to deliver your key code. There’s also a fridge in the reception area where you can purchase cold drinks and beers leaving money in an honesty box which I thought was a nice touch as well. We look forward to coming back to Alte Schule Hotel again!

Spent nearly a week at Hotel Alte Schule in June 2022 and loved everything about the hotel. It’s a unique hotel in an old school building and the rooms were wonderful. The air conditioning was excellent and needed in the summer. The breakfast buffet was excellent but they also offered to prepare eggs any way desired to order. The owners were wonderful and their young daughter was adorable. The hotel was also conveniently located and the waterfront was nearby. We also received great recommendations from the owners for activities. We highly recommend this hotel for staying in Lindau

Very beautiful hotel in the center. Large room, good equipments, very clean and staff is helful, discreet and friendly. Good location to visit the island by walk. Easy to park the car not too far. Breakfast is also very diversified, but a little bit expensive.

Our family of four stayed here for the night during our two week trip through Bavaria. The suite was spacious and comfortable. It was the only place we stayed that actually had air conditioning (although we didn't need it). The bathroom was modern and well-appointed. The beds were comfortable. The husband and wife who run this hotel were very kind, warm, and hospitable. Our check-in and check-out were easy. We had a delicious breakfast at the hotel, including made-to-order eggs. The owners were very helpful and accommodating, especially with helping us find a place to eat dinner when most of the restaurants on the island were fully-booked. We absolutely loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lindau.

Easy to find, not far from the road bridge onto the island, this hotel is delightful. An old building which is completely up to date, but still retains heaps of character. Lovely decoration and state of the art luxury items.||||We were in Room 11: a double bed and and double sofa bed (probably left as a lounge when not used as a bed) so probably classed as a suite. Spotlessly clean and very modern amenities, including a combined toilet/bidet, Italian shower and a large Loewes TV in each area. On the 2nd floor, immediately off the lift area, with a charming view of roof tops and terraces but not overlooked. ||||The hosts are charming and do what they can to ensure your stay is enjoyable (including checking how you want the cooked eggs/bacon for breakfast). Breakfast is well worth the little extra on top of the price, and includes a full continental buffet as well as the cooked component. My husband assures me the coffee was excellent.||||Everywhere in Lindau is a short walk away. Turning left from the hotel and walking in a straight line will take you past the shopping area and straight to the yacht club, next to the lively harbour area. ||||Please note that although you can park outside to drop off and pick up luggage, the nearest parking is around 200m away in a public carpark: however this is not expensive.

I wish we had been able to spend more time in Lindau. The Hotel Alte Schule was the perfect stay for our one evening in town. The owner Mark was so accommodating to our every request, and so friendly and informative. Breakfast was delicious and Mark prepared our eggs just the way we like them. It was like staying in the home of a good friend. The hotel itself has a family charm yet also is so new and modern. It is beautiful! The room and bathroom were well appointed and we could not have asked for more. WHEN we return to Lindau, we absolutely will stay here again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to one and all !
