Visiting Quedlinburg was a spur of the moment idea so it is one of the few places we have travelled to without booking a room in advance. Instead, as we were driving there, I checked Tripadvisor on my phone and read that Am Hoken is the no1 choice. We called them, they had a room and in 30 mins we were there.||Well, again, we could not have stumbled on to a better place. ||When we walked in, my husband and I looked at each other as it is all very narrow. The old building is narrow, 2 rooms in width. And, the stairs going to upper floors are very narrow and ,yes, the floors are a bit creaky, BUT, it' so wonderful to stay in an authentic old, full of ambience hotel. Must be one of the oldest buildings we have stayed in...1650!!!||It's location could not be any better. It's right on the market square, next to the Rathaus. Our room was actually 2 rooms, more like a suite. From the one window we faced the side of the Rathaus and could see the Market Square to the right and the Church to our left and from the window in the other room we had the view of lovely old houses on the street leading to the market. As I mentioned, the 2 rooms we had are the width of the building!!!||The beds were comfortable and I liked the choice of colours and fabrics. All very much in harmony with feeling of house.||Breakfast was wonderful in a small breakfast area, full of ambience..no lights, only candles!||The beautiful town of Quedlinburg was at our doorstep. The little train which took us around town, stops just by the hotel. The whole town has been UNESCO sited and houses are beautiful. 45% of buildings have been restored since unification. Most streets are still cobbled and a big bonus is that they are not crowded by tourists, yet!||For, me, it's one of the most authentic, beautiful towns in Germany. A place I must go back to. And when we do go back , we will definetely stay at Am Hoken again!
