This is the best hotel to stay in Heidelberg. Easy to get to via public transportation; parking garage 100m around the block if you are driving. Easy walking distance to the funicular to the castle as well as the fussganger zone through Old Town. Breakfast included is plentiful.

I've got to thank the staff at the hotel for above and beyond service. When my prebooked taxi failed to arrive (after several calls) the gentleman at reception came out and drove me to the train station in his own car. He did so without asking or payment. Thank you!||BTW - taxis in Heidelberg are stuck in the 1970's - poor service and you need cash for most of them.

We stayed at the Hotel am Kornmarkt from Friday 9.27 to Sunday 9.29. Much to our surprise, there was an autumnal festival going on in Heidelberg that weekend. The hotel proprietor did email me back in July to let me know, but I tend to woefully neglect my personal email account, and therefore missed the memo. However, we were so pleased as our humongous (by European standards) room overlooked the Kornmarkt square, and had a balcony with table and chairs. We toured Heidelberg, enjoyed the fest- boots on the ground, and then were able to retreat to our balcony to enjoy a glass and watch the festivities. The view of the square was lovely and the proximity of the hotel to the funicular up to the castle, were the selling points for me. There is a lovely little cafe just next door, and many excellent restaurants just a few steps away. ||||The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was on the firmer side. There was a couch which was nice for relaxing after walking all day. Everything was clean and comfortable.||||I would not hesitate to stay at the Hotel am Kornmarkt in the future.

As well as being right in the center of things (though very quiet), I also liked the tasty breakfast and helpfulness of the management. My room was, I think, very recently renovated and I really appreciated the sense of cleanliness and comfort. It was not very luxurious but was spacious, had a comfortable armchair as well as a desk chair, and a good sized bathroom and shower.

I love staying here and find the owners and staff very friendly and helpful. I am a guitarist and they let me practice in the breakfast room. I am so grateful for that. I would love to keep this hotel a secret, but must admit it is the only place I want to stay when in HD. Haven't been since covid but hope to soon!

Great hotel and great rooms! We had room B, which was gigantic for a very reasonable price. Receptionists, while a little gruff, were very helpful in guiding us around the city and arranging taxis for us. The room even had a little balcony that over looked the tiny square below. Huge fan of the location in proximity to everything except the train station, which we made the mistake of walking from with our luggage.

My family and I stayed here December of 2016. There was a misunderstanding between the hotel owner and the receptionist on the check out time, for the particular day we were checking out. The receptionist had confirmed that check out time was the normal check out time for that day, but according to the owner, that day there was an “early” check out time. Since my family and I were completely unaware, we all stepped out. My mother and I came back before the rest of my family, and to our surprise, we saw all of our luggage (7 suitcases) thrown outside of the hotel, onto the street. We walked in and saw the owner, who was very upset, and starting yelling at us because we were checking out “late.” I tried to calmly speak to the owner, but he continued yelling at us and telling us we were wrong about check out time. Eventually, we stepped out to wait for the rest of our family to come back. While waiting, the owner called the receptionist, confirmed that she had given us a different check out time (the one we knew), and stepped outside to explain and tell us he fired her, as if that was going to excuse his behavior. He didn’t even have the courtesy to apologize. Please save yourself the headache of having to deal with the arrogant, stubborn owner and his nasty attitude. Book somewhere else.

This was my first experience visiting Germany and my first hotel stay. The hotel was very clean and very friendly. The owner was especially kind to our group of 13 that took over most of the hotel, and with such great service. Our group spent two nights while we visited Heidelberg so this was a perfect location to stay while we experienced the city and all the history. Some of the rooms are small compared to western expectations but you have to keep in mind that this is an old city and the buildings reflect the era they were built. I highly recommend this hotel.
