The 17 Best Hotels in Berlin

"Vladimir Nabokov, Brigitte Bardot, and Alain Delon all have stayed at this luxury hotel at some point in its history. It opened in 1913 on a quiet, leafy square in posh Charlottenburg and received a renovation a century later as part of the Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The boutique property retains its alluring Art Nouveau flourishes, including a sinuous canopy above the entrance, Moorish arched windows, and exquisite stucco work throughout. The flawless redesign integrates historic decorative elements with contemporary touches. The luxurious boutique vibe and ideal location—just a short walk to the shops along Kurfürstendamm and the Berlin Zoo—make it an enduring draw, even post re-do." - Jennifer Ceaser, Liz Humphreys

Hotel am Steinplatz, Autograph Collection

"Start us off with an overview and an entrance.Vladimir Nabokov, Brigitte Bardot, and Alain Delon all have stayed at this luxury hotel at some point in its history. A double-sided gas fireplace warms up the black-and-white Deco lobby, which is outfitted with marble, modern leather seating, and enlarged vintage photographs from the hotel’s glamorous past. What’s the crowd like? This hotel is a Marriott property, so you'll hear a lot of American accents. What are rooms like? The 84 rooms and three suites are a seamless blend of Art Deco and modern, with elegant blacks and creams, punctuated with pops of deep red and chrome. Ceilings are wonderfully high, and tall windows let in plenty of light. Some rooms face a tranquil courtyard; others, the street or leafy Steinplatz park. As this is a historic property, each room has a slightly different layout, but all are spacious, and comfortable. Sleek black-and-white marble bathrooms have heated floors, lighted mirrors, and large rainforest showers; suites have separate freestanding tubs. Luxe toiletries from Saint Charles are a nice touch. The top-floor spa suite is the ultimate in relaxation, featuring an in-room sauna. Cute toiletries and pricey sauna suites aside, are there other amenities of note?High-tech features include an electronic monitor that you can turn on to see who’s outside your door. There are also blackout shades controlled by a bedside switch. Onsite, what are our best options for food and drink?Breakfast is served in the Restaurant Am Steinplatz, a small, attractively designed restaurant with a glassed-in conservatory area and a courtyard. Make time for a drink at the neighboring Bar am Steinplatz, which has a fine selection of cocktails inspired by the Roaring ‘20s—the Rose Gimlet, with Doppelwachholder (a local juniper-flavored spirit), gin, rose cordial, and seeding spice, is a favorite—along with drinks perfect for an aperitif and non-alcoholic choices. Any other facilities we should check out during our stay?A top-floor spa offers massages, body treatments, and facials. One floor up is a spacious, windowed rooftop fitness area; you can work out on high-tech machines while taking in views of the Berlin skyline and TV Tower. Bottom line: Why will we love it here?Because of its luxurious boutique vibe and ideal location—just a short walk to the shops along Kurfürstendamm and the Berlin Zoo." - Jennifer Ceaser

Roomers Berlin Steinplatz, Autograph Collection (Berlin, Germany) 4 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Going back to 1913, the hotel now known as Roomers Berlin Steinplatz has always had a glamorous reputation, counting Vladimir Nabokov and Brigitte Bardot (separately, unless there’s a great story we don’t know about) among its famous guests. One hundred years later, the Art Nouveau landmark reopened as a boutique hotel with corporate backing — it’s a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The sleek twenties-inspired hotel is one of a few properties prompting visitors to venture outside the Mitte and book a room in a comparatively residential but up-and-coming West Berlin neighborhood like Charlottenburg." - Tablet Hotels

This is the second Roomers property I stayed at, and it was another lovely experience. ||The rooms are comfortable, thoughtfully stocked, and interesting. The shower is amazing. (I love the robes! Hooray for the candy bar.) The breakfast is splendid. It’s on a quiet street about 10 minutes walk from the U2 line, which takes you straight to the sights. ||The service everywhere was thoughtful, sincere, and accommodating. For example, a package is being mailed to me from Denmark, and it was arriving after I had checked out. They easily and quickly made arrangements for a plan to make my life better. ||(I stayed at the Ritz the night before and ughhhh. Hard pass.)||Danke sehr. I’ll be back!

We traveled as a family of 5 (grandparent, parents, 2 older teen/20s kids). I chose this hotel because it was smaller and just outside the city center. My assumption was that this would make our stay a little quieter and more neighborhood-like. I got what I wanted. The attendants at the front desk were wonderful -- friendly, welcoming and helpful. We especially appreciated the water and candies in the reception area when we arrived in the morning fresh from the plane. To our surprise and delight, our rooms were ready, and we could check in right away. ||The rooms were clean and spacious. We had no issues at all. Our room on the 5th floor was right near the gym/spa, which was convenient. ||I agree with another reviewer who recommended not taking the breakfast. At nearly 50 euros per day, there is no way it would be worth it. There are adorable cafes and coffee shops nearby that are a fraction of the price. ||The U/S Bahn are a 7-minute walk and very easy to access. We easily took the train into the city each day during our stay. ||I recommend this hotel fully, and I'd stay here again if the opportunity arose.

Went with 2 teenagers on a family city break over half term. Had 2 x Deluxe Rooms. Quite dated looking room but clean and big rooms.|Breakfast was good. Didn't eat any other meals in the hotel.|The hotel is in a residential area but there are plenty of choices of restaurants within 10 minutes walk.|The hotel is about 15 minutes from the zoo where there is a metro and about 20 minutes to the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church where there are lots of shops and restaurants. We got Ubers around at night if we went more than 10 minutes walk away.|Great staff and service.|A good family trip.

This hotel really surprised me. I didn’t expect much because of the price, but it was better than many 4-star hotels I’ve stayed at. The room was spotless, towels and sheets smelled fresh, and everything worked. The receptionist was extremely helpful and even printed some documents I needed. The best part was how close it was to everything — train station, restaurants, even a park. Highly recommended for anyone traveling on a budget.

Was in Berlin for a quick get away and stayed at the Roomer’s Steinplatz Hotel.||What a wonderful hotel and experience!||Check in was fast and soon I was in my stylish and spacious room. Everything about the hotel and room oozed class. I loved the images throughout the hotel. Even wanted to go to different floors to see if the images on each floor were different.||The room was comfy with plenty of storage throughout and one of the bigger rooms I’ve had in recent memory. The bathroom area was in the style of the entire hotel and the shower was so refreshing.||After a long day out, I ordered room service and the meal (Croque Monsieur and perfectly seasoned fries) was delicious.||One night I had wine at the bar. The three bartenders were extremely personable and great fun making for a memorable evening.||Undoubtedly, I’ll be back!

Google
Absolutely stunning, period. The service, hygiene, and ambiance are 5/5 ⭐️’s, this is a MUST VISIT boutique hotel. The attention to detail from your check-in, up until departure experience is memorable, and will be cherished. You’re greeted with a smile, and still/sparkling water. The room was just perfect! Size, elegance, and cleanliness was 5/5. The breakfast experience was also very exquisite. Freshly made Benedict, omelet, and crepes were delicious! Fresh green juice to pistachio creme, yummers! 😋 Thank you for this memorable experience, well done!

Google
Stayed here with my wife recently. Fantastic reception—they made us feel welcome upon check in and in check out (offering us a water bottle for the trip back home as we checked out!) The room itself was very comfortable. There were some details we noticed (a stranger’s hair in the bathtub/the edge of a lamp peeling off), but the service and the amenities of the room made up for it.

This has been one of my favorite hotels. But the new Roomers style is quite worrisome. I like the videos from the 1920s that they still have in the hallways. But in the elevator they replaced them with dark videos that suggest they don't want anyone over 40 staying there. I have heard many others say the same. A nice lady at the St. Ermin's in London, also an Autograph property, when I said the hotel is good, said "But it looks very dark. I don't like that dark look." Of course she was referring to the website. One wonders if it will get worse. In the elevator, you can't escape the photo of a bond woman about 25 who has an expression on her face like she just stepped in dog poop. It cycles over and over. This has replaced the videos of the 1920s. Maintenance seems to be slipping. The spa is not as good. A plus is that the restaurant is much better. Their email system for guests to contact them does not work. I tried 3 times. It is too bad they did not retain many of the employees I liked. Daniel at breakfast is excellent and I hope that they keep him. And the others from the past, such as Maria. The present ones are fine, but many feel that a mark of a good hotel is staff who recognizes you and says, genuinely, that they are happy to see you again.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel in the Charlottenburg part of Berlin featuring incredibly modern but comfortable accommodations and amazing hospitality staff. Our check in was straightforward, there is access to fitness and spa facilities for guests, and we were very happy with the courtyard view. I only wish our stay could have been longer....

Yelp
This hotel is amazing, and the staff couldn't be nicer. Beautiful, historic, amazing ambiance. The wonderful bar switched to only making "clear" cocktails, and I wish they would go back to making fun beautiful cocktails.

Yelp
This is the best hotel experience I have ever had. The minute we walked in we were greeted in the reception area with a welcome cocktail. A thorough explanation of the hotel and it's facilities was followed by a brief history lesson by the very polite and professional bellhop. I have been to quite a few hotels in my life but I have never experienced anything remotely close to this. The size of room was massive, the quality of the bed and furniture was amazing and the room even had a balcony. The bathroom was spaceious, fresh and well equipped and I really want that type of shower back home. I am rarely envious of hotel facilities but this was truely something different. When the staff retreived our car from the garage they had written a note to us thanking us for choosing their hotel and put it on the dashboard together with a small box of mints. I have never felt so genuinly welcome at any hotel before and I can not praise them enough. This is surely world class.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel that is in the Marriott chain. Super history, classy massive rooms, lots of atmosphere that makes you want to stay inside all day. Spa with gym as part of the package and wonderful personnel. Couldn't ask for more and my new work home for abetting trips.

Yelp
Great hotel located close to transportation. Great staff and great service. Only ate breakfast here and it was perfect. Everything was spotless clean and very modern. I would recommend staying here.

Yelp
I haven't been to Berlin for a long time now. I looked for hotels and found this little gem. I got a good deal with breakfast. It may not be cheap but its worth every penny. This property is actually part of the Marriott group, they call it autograph collection. This building has a long history in Berlin and underwent extensive renovation recently. Check in is quick and efficient, the staff friendly and very knowledgeable. The rooms are extraordinary, modern with great well thought equipment, not lacking any comfort. The bed was very comfortable, the curtains were thick making the room dark enough for a great sleeping experience. The aircon worked well for a warm summer night and was quiet enough. Breakfast service was super in a stylish and modern environment. Service was impeccable, attentive and very friendly. The food on offer was fresh, many regional products, didn't miss anything. This hotel is on my repeat list if I come back to Berlin again!

Yelp
A bit of perfection, tucked away from the nearby main drag, but a short walk to the trains and the Berlin Zoo and shopping, this boutique gem not only has big, spacious rooms, but it also has the best bar and restaurant at a hotel that I've ever been to. The chef summer of 2017 should get a Michelin star, and Benedikt, the head of their amazing craft bar, is an artist (See my separate reviews of these places). The staff was very helpful and made the stay memorable.

Yelp
What an incredible hotel. I travel a lot and have stayed at four and five star hotels from New York to Dubai and in between and I have to say this hotel was one of the better ones. It's hard to believe it's even part of the Marriott chain not that the chain is bad but this collection was laps ahead of any Marriott. I am going to Vegas in a few weeks will try the cosmopolitan there that is also part of the same collection. The service was spot on. The rooms spotless. The design incredible. Can't wait to return next year.

Yelp
Everything was perfect... until the front desk ruined it. We asked for a taxi-van because we had a lot of baggages. Apparently, the front desk decided to get a regular hatch-back car instead, despite insisting 20min before that we needed a van. When the taxi came, it was showing 9€ already. This place will never be a 5* until they think more about customer service. Avoid. Or never - ever - ask something to the front desk -ever.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! Room was incredible as well as the view of the city. Spa on the 5th floor as well. Best of all was the customer service!! My friend came to see me and she was greeted by all 4 employee at the front and she was even offered coffee, juices, and water while she waited. One of their manager "Trey V" shout out to him as he was incredible in his service. I was lost at the train station and he recognized me and immediately help guided me to where I needed to be. Will definitely stay here again!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely perfect service delivered with sincere smiles and a wish to be helpful in every possible way -- even when one of us had to go to a nearby ER. Even when we were just passing by the front desk they smiled and waved to us. The room was spacious, the bathroom a dream, the lobby great for sitting and doing work, and the neighborhood, Charlottenburg, beautiful, quiet, and full of interesting restaurants and galleries. One of the best we have ever stayed in.
google avatar

Yelp
Stylish boutique hotel is a nice quiet neighborhood. The rooms are on the small side but the beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are excellent. Housekeeping is also excellent. Only real fault would be with the service in the restaurant. We ordered drinks and appetizers tonight with a waiter who was initially very friendly. 20 minutes later still no drinks so we ask for the waiter to come back which he eventually does to tell us the bartender doesn't understand our order. He's much less friendly this time. We tell him the order again, and I even offered to come to the bar and tell him the order directly. The waiter looks offended and says no. 15 minutes later, still no drinks - even though we are now nearly finished with the food. So I get up, go to the bar and tell the bartender the order. He says no problem and a few minutes later leaves the packed bar to bring us the drinks himself with much apologizing. He also, in a very elaborate gesture, tells us he is here for us and there's no charge for the drinks. He looks like a German Ricky Martin. In essence, Ricky Martin has just bought us drinks. Meanwhile, the waiter never returns. And when we get the bill, we are charged for the drinks.

Yelp
Awesome staff and very stylish hotel. Loved the rooms - super comfortable, great TV w/ easy access to hdmi inputs for laptop/movies Will definitely come back again.

Yelp
great location, great service, beautiful rooms and a really cool spa.

Yelp
Wonderful boutique hotel but has all of the services of a large hotel. Part of the Marriott chain, but it is so charming you would not know it. Have stayed at the Ritz Carlton, Hilton, the Grand Esplanade, the Weston Grande in Berlin, but this one will be my choice in future visits to Berlin. A nice surprise was the teapot in the room, not found in many German hotels. They also have a nice restaurant, food is freshly and expertly prepared, with traditional dishes with a modern twist, spotlighting what is in season. During my stay, I had salmon served with fresh pfifferlings (mushrooms) and white asparagus (both in season). Dessert featured fresh strawberries and johannisberries. I enjoyed a nice Riesling from the Rhein region. Perfect.
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
What more to say? Previous reviews are spot on. Breakfast is a little overpriced by European standards but not by American. But it is magnificent. I want to return to Berlin just to stay here again.
google avatar

Brooke W.

Yelp
Truly the best hotel in Berlin. The staff are absolutely wonderful. They're friendly, knowledgeable and go out of their way to accommodate guests. If you really want to know more about the city and where to go, ask the staff. They will give you a slew of great local recommendations.

Paul M.

Yelp
Great facility with modern, spacious rooms and extremely friendly and helpful staff! My room was perfectly appointed and very comfortable. The lobby was attractive and modern, while the staff at the front desk went out of their way to do whatever they could to make my stay excellent.

Yelp
One of Berlin's hidden gems. The bar at the Hotel am Steinplatz (smoke free, yippee!) is top in its class. Christian and his team (Benni, Lynn, etc.) are creative, attentive, friendly, helpful and well-versed in their field. They serve up a lot of both Berliner and German-made spirits, making it fun to try new things created close to home. The hotel staff is also willing to give you a tour of the hotel and one of its rooms (I am sure this depends on how crowded the bar is) if you are interested, which is worth it, the rooms are gorgeous. The home-made syrups as well as the unique and fresh ingredients make for a pure palate explosion. I tip my hat to the Bar am Steinplatz. Well done!

Yelp
Loved this little boutique beauty! No expense was spared in the renovation, from the beautiful glass encased elevators with exposed mechanicals, to the sleek design of the rooms and bathrooms. Restaurant was nice for breakfast, never had an opportunity to try for dinner. Spa was fantastic on the top floor. Loved the friendly but professional staff. Emily checked us in warmly, Angelique took great care of us throughout and I enjoyed spending time in the mixology bar w/Nils and Danny.

Yelp
Our first trip to Berlin including my wife and 5 year old daughter. We stayed here since it was part of Marriott, but it not like a standard Marriott. it is very upscale and we were incredibly happy with our stay, the hotel itself and the location. This really is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in throughout many travels, and just a great experience. The room was top notch, the amenities were fantastic and the restaurant was also great. We had dinner one night and enjoyed the buffett every morning for breakfast. The breakfast was a great way to start the day with a big meal that got us through to dinner most days even with alot of walking. The staff that we deal with were also top notch and very helpful. You feel like an important person when you are staying at this place, and you quickly learn about some of the history of the building and hotel. Nearby are some good restaurant, access to S and U Bahn, the zoo, lots of parks and shopping.

Yelp
What a wonderful hotel! Found it through Marriott as I'm a Rewards member and just needed one night in Berlin on my way back to Seattle from Leipzig. While it is boutique-y and a nice combo of vintage and modern, I wouldn't necessarily call it hip or for hipsters. But that is perfect for me as I don't want a place that is too hip for its own good or that will make me feel like a rube. I received a complimentary upgrade and was "VIP for the day" (however that is decided), and the room/suite I got was spectacular. Spacious, with large opening windows looking out across Steinplatz. Incredible bathroom setup with big walk in shower (directional and overhead rain can shower heads) plus beautiful tub in separate area. Location was great for West Berlin and Savignyplatz area, but also easy U subway ride to Brandenburg Tor, Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie, etc. Best part was that the price was reasonable (location and quality considered)--under €200 for room and breakfast.

Calvin Y.

Yelp
My hotel experience was incredible. From the time we checked in to the last day, the staff were excellent. After a very long trip, I was surprised at the quality of the dining experience at the hotel restaurant for dinner. The food was on part with some of the best dining my wife and I have had and very reasonable prices. The waitstaff have been attentive at every opportunity and cheerful. It has been a refreshing experience. Our concierge even went out of her way to help us send a package back home. I rarely write reviews but of the hundreds of hotels I've stayed at, this was one of the best experiences I've had and I highly recommend it to anyone.
