HOTEL AMALUR

We stayed for two nights in a small apartment they have available. It had AC in the bedroom (although it didn't work particularly well), hot water, a fridge and a propane burner for cooking, a kitchen table/chairs and a small living area with chairs in it. The owners and the staff were super helpful. We never wound up eating there, but the local expats have told us their seafood is fantastic, although a bit on the pricey side for Canoa. We were looking for a place for a six week stay, although we wound up choosing something else, I have no doubt this place would have been just fine, and the owners offered us what I consider a fair price

The veggie sandwich is awesome and the yoga classes 4 times a week are a must! My family stayed there for a long period and were very pleased and felt super safe! There is a nice garden area so that children can play around without stress.

We had dinner at the Amalur Restaurante 2x in the last few weeks. The first time 4 people had the shrimp spaghetti and one had the nachos. Both dishes were very good. The second time 5 of us had the shrimp spaghetti for $7.50 US and were all very satisfied. |On our first visit, the ladies in our group who ordered white wine were very disappointed in the quantity served. It covered only the bottom of the glass. The second time the quantity and quality of the white wine was fine. Maybe they were running short on our first visit. We’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.|We’d recommend the shrimp spaghetti. Very tasty!

This hostel is very beautiful, the rooms are nice and most of them come with mosquito nets. It is only two blocks from the beach which is very convenient and they have a kitchen with a relatively cheap menu. While the rooms were beautiful, the owners would not lend us towels to take onto the beach. Additionally, although I came with a group of eight (so needless to say we were paying plenty to be there) the owner of the hostel would not let us take water from their water fountain once we checked out. Also, a few of us left before others. My friends and I planned to shower in our friends who were still staying there's room, but the owner also said we were not allowed to do this so we ended up showering in someone's backyard... quite the experience. ||||Overall, great location and comfortable beds... grouchy owner.

January 24th, 2019.... Started with a veggie and hummus plater, presented well and tasty, followed by Salmon and shrimp ceviche which was delicious... my partner enjoyed her Carbonara Spaghetti and was happy to take home the extra for a nice lunch. Highly recommend...

Stayed at Amalur on all my visits to Canoa, and it has always been an excellent experience, they have the best food, great coffee, local brews, yoga and the owners are absolutely amazing, they make you like you are home! ||Canoa is a magical and surreal small town full of vibrant people and I highly recommend!! ||

The best election if you want to sleep in a clean, comfortable and cozy room in Canoa after a day in the humid heat. The staff is very charming and attentive. They will help you with anything in both English and Spanish. Hungry? Check their yummy menu! Best dinning in town. They have plenty of vegetarian and healthy options. Hungry? Nice coffee, local crafted beer, local breweries and cocktails. Yes, COCKTAILS!! Bored? Yoga, massage, tours!

Rooms are really nice and clean. The design of the hotel is so relax, it makes you feel good. A very good restaurant too (perfect if you're a bit bored from the "almuerzos"), I recommend it. Cheap for what it is really!
