Clean, modern hotel in the middle of all the action of Kabukicho. We booked a Japanese king room which was a mistake on our part not realizing that the room was essentially a mattress on the floor with very little space to walk aside from the narrow hallway from the door. We are a couple in our sixty’s so rolling around on the floor and struggling to stand was problematic. The room itself was clean and had everything we needed. We loved the bathroom. The shower had excellent pressure and the tub was great to have a relaxing bath at the end of a long day of sightseeing. The staff all speak English and were very helpful and kind. We ate breakfast buffet in the hotel a couple of times. The food was geared towards western tastes and there was a lot of variety. We would stay here again but next time we would opt for a regular twin room.

Had a great stay at Hotel Amanek! The location was super convenient — close to transport, shops, and attractions. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made us feel really welcome. Clean, comfortable rooms and great value. Would definitely stay again!

Well located, 10 minutes from Shinjuku Station. The furniture and decor look a bit cheap, and the room was dusty. There isn’t really a comfortable place to relax within the hotel. The bathroom is nice and spacious, but the bedroom is quite small. The breakfast area is in the basement and has a slight unpleasant smell. The breakfast itself is quite basic, with limited options, and the coffee, tea, and juices are from low-cost brands.

The hotel's services are not at fault, but I'm writing this for tourists who might consider staying here. This is an area with poor public safety that Japanese people tend to avoid. The hotel is located next to a love hotel, which is an establishment where people go for a few hours for sex, such as unmarried couples living with their parents or people having affairs. The surrounding area is where drunk people vomit and litter. When I walked by, a heavily intoxicated host and a woman who likely spent millions of yen on him were staggering and bumping into a utility pole together. This is a troublesome area with sex workers lingering around. The neighborhood is full of shabby bars and "muryou annaijo" (free information centers) that arrange sexual services. You can often see people who are having financial difficulties passed out on the street. Only those who are willing to weigh the risks of poor public safety, location, and the cost should challenge themselves to stay here.

Very comfortable and tourist friendly higher end hotel in the heart of Shinjuku (close to all nightlife activities but if staying on higher floors you can't even hear the outside fun)! The staff was very welcoming and they even had a welcome bar downstairs (along with washing machines). Highly recommend staying here but be aware this is a more adult oriented area to stay in Tokyo.

The room is a decent size for Tokyo and the location is fantastic. The only negative is that the breakfast buffet is not very good, so even though I paid for breakfast for my entire 3 night stay I only ate there once. I would skip the breakfast option as there are so many better options right outside the hotel door.

Great location in walking distance to three subway stations. Even though it is situated amongst nightclubs, it was quiet at night. The bathroom is especially huge compared to other hotel bathrooms in Tokyo. The room and bathroom look exactly like the pictures shown on Trip. Would gladly stay here again.

A clean modern hotel in the heart of Shinjuku Kabukicho, Tokyo's famed entertainment (and red light) district. Great for adults, but you should think twice if you are traveling with young children.||While it is in the heart of Shinjuku Kabukicho, it is a decent walk from the JR Shinjuku station. It is probably not an issue for your daily touristy activities, but if you are planning to take JR East's Narita Express (NEX) to or from the Narita Airport, keep in mind that NEX stops at platform 5 and 6, the southern-most platforms in this gigantic station. Google Maps may tell you it's a 8-min walk from the station based on you exiting the East Exit, in actuality it's more like a 15-min walk since you will likely be exiting either the South Exit or New South Exit on the other side of the station. And that's 15-minute with you lugging your luggage along. This may or may not be an issue for you, depending on how light you travel.||Speaking of luggage, the rooms are tiny, particularly the Japanese King rooms, even with Tokyo standards. There is no room for you to sit, let alone opening your luggage, especially clamshell style luggage. If you only have clamshell style luggage, your only option is to spread it on the bed. Top-open is definitely more practical to use here. You can thank me later.||The room, while tiny, includes a decent size bathroom with separate shower and tub area. You almost have to wonder if it is better to get rid of the bath tub to free up more space for the rest of the room. Maybe separate shower and tub is a Japanese thing that they cannot leave without.||Essentially amenities are available in the bathroom, and more are available for free in the lobby.||The staff are friendly and helpful.||We haven't tried the breakfast onsite, but be warned that there aren't a lot of breakfast options in the Kabukicho side of Shinjuku. Most of the food options available during breakfast hours are geared towards hangovers (starchy stuff like ramen, gyudon, etc) than what you think of as breakfasts. A couple of convenient stores (Lawson and Family Mart to be exact) are within a stone's throw though.||I would definitely give a higher rating (4) if the usable space in the room is bigger.
