It is located in a strategic position since it is near both the train station and the old town. The rooms are good as well as breakfast, especially for the gluten-free bread availability. What is very negative, is how the payment is handled. They ask you a card so that they charge the amount before you arrive and they do it by themselves! That’s crazy, especially because every bank now requires the card owner’s authorisation to approve every ‘big’ payment and the hotel doesn’t tell you the exact moment when they charge the sum of money (it is generically said “two days before the arrival”). So, it wasn’t possible for me to approve the payment and they sent me an email telling me the news. Therefore, I wrote several emails offering solutions and explaining why the payment didn’t work, but they didn’t reply. On the contrary, some hours later a very rude man called me demanding another card (was it so difficult to to do the payment with the card I gave them?) to pay and I lost some money due to the necessary bank transfer from one card to the other. He wasn’t collaborative at all and he was very impolite. Very bad service. I don’t advise to use this system and I don’t recommend coming here if you don’t want to have this trouble. Fortunately, I didn’t meet this man during my sojourn at the hotel.

This hotel is recommended by my colleague as it is just across the train station and is not difficult to locate . From the look outside the hotel , it is very pleasant and homely, this is evident from the moment I was greeted by the staff at reception . The key system is rather unique because you need to exchange your room key for a smaller set of keys that open the main door since reception is attended till 7:00 pm.||The room is typical of European which is very small with a single bed if you are staying alone . Well designed and clean room that I have nothing to complain about .||Breakfast was simple with limited spread but no complains as this is very typical for such European hotel. ||Throughout my stay , every things runs good except the very weak internet making work rather challenging .

The rooms are quite small and old, but clean and tidy. The architecture of the building also won't allow for more spacious rooms. From previous reviews I was a bit scared about the service, but I must say I was always greeted with a smile and the service was excellent. Of course the location is also perfect, right next to the train station and the town center.

This hotel checked all my boxes for a short stay in Solothurn. I have stayed in the city many times on business trips but this time I was passing by privately.||||The hotel offers a very convenient location south of the river. A few parking paces for guests are available but they were occupied when we arrived. But the staff was very helpful in finding an alternative. There are a few parking garages (one with charging option which we were looking for) close by.||||Reception was very friendly and all the hotel details were explained very patiently.||Rooms are basic but with comfortable beds and clean, properly working showers. There are no in-room coffee or tea facilities but guest can get free coffee from a machine near the reception. There is also a fridge with drinks and a request to write down anything you take from it. Very friendly.||||Breakfast also basic but good and it can be enjoyed on the small terrace in the back of the hotel.||||Prices are very friendly compared to the other (slightly more upscale) hotels in Solothurn.

I'd rather sleep on the street next time than pay the 160 CHF I paid to stay in this veritable jail cell. The bed was a tiny double and was so uncomfortable, old and worn. The halls are extremely narrow, windows are small like in a deluxe jail cell, and we had smoke blowing in from under the big gap under the door of the room as someone was smoking in the hallway. It was hell staying here and I feel genuinely robbed. Worst hotel experience in my lifetime thus far. To add insult to injury, as per other reports, the owners are entitled, grump, and utterly unfriendly. No sense of gratitude, service or humanity.

I had a really great stay at the Hotel Ambassador! The hotel is extremely conveniently located (it's just a five minute walk from the train station - see below - and around the corner from the pedestrian bridge to the old part of the city), and my room was very comfortable and clean. A couple of grocery stores are nearby, as are quite a few restaurants. The staff was the best part though - they were all very warm and welcoming, and when I checked in, the person I spoke with had a lot of information about Solothurn. I really liked the hotel, but the kind staff really made it a very nice stay. ||||(Rather than cross streets, take a left when you exit the train station, and walk toward the McDonalds and Subway. There is an underpass there that leads you right to the Niklaus Konrad Strasse and the hotel is right there.)

I stayed at the Hotel Ambassador for FIVE weeks earlier this year and found it to be a pleasant experience. My room was comfortable and functional, the bathroom was adequate and a decent size. I would have appreciated a small fridge perhaps as I was staying for such a long time as the kitchen and staffing at weekends is liberal. There is no staff present after midday on Saturday and Sunday. However you are free to come and go as you please. Breakfast is good with enough choice. I did miss the full English though after week 3! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to the train station and bus routes. I found this very useful. The city is very nice with plenty of good restaurants and bars. Also plenty of tourist attractions, museums and landmarks. I stayed during the festival season so this made for some lively evenings. |I would stay again if I was visiting the city in the future and would recommend to friends and colleagues.

The rooms are very small. When you ask two seperate bed they give you a big bed with two seperate duvet in the same bed😀 I slept with my business friend in the same bed. Thank for the seperate duvets. Rooms and bathroom are clean. Breakfast moderate.
