I stayed at Anahi for four nights, and I might have been willing to give it three stars if I hadn't woken up this morning with a silverfish-like insect on my pillow and another one on my arm. That was enough for me to say I wouldn't stay there again.
It wasn't all bad. The room is a good size for the price. It was very basic but definitely didn't feel cramped for one person. The bathroom was surprisingly enormous, and the heating worked well. The location was fantastic. It was on a little side street near Piazza Popolo, close to all the tourist attractions, and about a 5-minute walk from the metro, but in an area without any street noise.
Unfortunately, there was a lot to dislike about this hotel. It was overall very run down and looked like it hadn't been renovated in decades. There aren't really any common areas, but the hotel is so old and musty feeling/smelling, that you wouldn't want to spend any time there other than to sleep.
Though you won't have to deal with street noise, you will have to deal with noise from your neighbors. Mine weren't too loud, but I could hear every single word they said, so this is definitely a bad place if you need privacy.
The mattress and pillows were sufficiently comfortable, though the sheets and pillowcases were really rough.
The bathroom was decent, aside from the bugs. It was a good size, and the hot water and shower pressure were good. It took me three showers before I figured out how exactly to position the shower curtain to prevent water from going EVERYWHERE.
The wifi situation was unacceptable. It logs out every time your device's screen times out, forcing you to sign back in with a username and password, and preventing updates/notifications if you're not actively using your phone. My room's location couldn't get reception for my phone or data either, so that wasn't an option. Adding insult to injury, the wifi was completely down for an entire day of my stay.
Overall, Anahi wasn't horrible, and I'm not sure you can do much better for the price in Rome. Next time, however, I will be willing to spend more to stay somewhere better.
