Hotel Añaterve

We stayed at Hotel Añaterve for two nights on a walking holiday. We didn't receive a warm welcome on arrival, maybe because we turned up early in the day. The room had a lovely view but was basic and didn’t have much in the way of storage. A piece of fruit and a chocolate were provided in the room but there was no drinking or bottled water and no provision to make tea or coffee. A notice in the room said that filtered water was available in the kitchen but this was obviously only with permission from the owners (we made the mistake of helping ourselves). Breakfast was good, as was the mushroom omelette provided for a picnic lunch.

What an amazing place! Herman and Amala where the best hosts you could wish for. Fabulous breakfast, amazing gardens and views across the valley and mountains. The beautifully restored building is testament to Herman’s artistry and restoration skills. The rooms are unique and spacious with everything you would need. If you are looking for an amazing place to stay look no further. We were here for 4 days and can’t wait to come back again!

The hosts are amazing! Had a great time here, they gave me tips on hikes to do, had some nice little conversations, overall i felt really good here even though I was a solo traveller there. The place is also super cute and has a nice garden, very well placed too Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay with Amala and Herman who were friendly hosts. Their work on the hotel is a real labour of love. Room 1 was accessed through the garden and wonderfully private. Comfy bed, great shower, shady outside seating.

Small hotel in an enormous, steep, hillside garden. It is enthusiastically run by a friendly vegetarian Flemish couple who have rebuilt this amazing old house. Their attention to detail is amazing with furniture made to fit the bedrooms. Everything is very clean. They provide a good breakfast.

If you take a good foundation, apply very hard work and twenty years of a loving finishing touch, you will be left with Hotel Anaterve. An absolutely beautiful hotel, with a stunning garden and the most wonderful hosts Amala and Herman. We stayed for three nights so also had the pleasure of a beautiful evening meal cooked by Amala, as well as the wonderful breakfasts each morning. The view overlooking Vallehermoso each morning is also a big plus!

Visited with my Dad last November on a hiking trip arranged by On Foot Holidays. Lovely hotel. The hosts were exceptional.

This small family-run hotel is a heaven on earth. Situated on a picturesque hillside in Vellehermoso it is quiet, clean, comfortable and offers the perfect base to explore the island of La Gomera. For a quiet day in, explore the local town by taking a leisurely stroll through the garden path, where you will find lots of little surprises and maybe even meet the house cat Sutra inspecting the grounds.||||Amala and Herman are the most welcoming hosts. Make sure to book dinner in the hotel when available and the breakfast is the best in the whole Canary Islands (with good coffee. GOOD). Our vegan diet was accommodated very well, we are still dreaming of that lasagne we had for dinner!||||One can really feel the love and energy the couple have put in this place. We cannot wait to come back. After all, who would not want to wake up to the sun rising over the mountains, with the morning breeze coming through the open balcony.

Amazing views! Cozy and charming inn high in a mountain top town. The yummy vegetarian food and lovely couple who run the inn are really fantastic! Highly recommended as a special treat. Pro tip: Ask to arrange for a tour by super friendly local guide Enekoiz Rodriguez. We went on a full day tour of the local national park area for a great excursion day. Really enjoyed it. But he can do other trips as well.
