Hotel & Restaurant JAKOB

Great find. The town of Rapperswil is very quaint and lovely, as is Hotel Jakob.Form the moment we arrived we knew we had made a good choice (thanks ChatGTP!!). The check in was friendly, quick and easy, even didn’t have to pay until check out, a rarity these days. The room was spacious enough, clean and tidy. Bathroom a little on the tiny side, but adequate. Only suggestion would be a pillow selection. The restaurant was special. The staff excellent and the food was great as was the wine selection. Recommend!!! Overall the hotel and facilities a definite 5/5

We have visited only the restaurant and for the prices it was very avarage we expected much more. I had a Swiss beef burger which was very avarage and for sure not worth 37 chf. The bun was too big, meat was too small, until I got to taste meat had to eat only bun with four bites, only a leaf and tomato and gurke, there should be a raclet cheese that should make the burger a Swiss burger but was cold and couldn't even taste it. And mayo and ketchup in package was bit odd. They should rework the burger offer for that price! Also fish and chips for 36 chf are not the top food at all. The prices of the food are not justified. We ate the food because we were hungry but left with feelings and left with 120chf shorter. Putting 4 stars since we didn't visit hotel but experience in restaurant was only 3 stars.

Heads up for families with a toddler who want space. The pictures of double rooms advertised are misleading - as they only depict one of the larger superior rooms. The others are tiny in real life. We won’t book again. Location of the hotel is very good.

Recently visited the Jakob again and they completly renovated the rooms 😍. The new rooms and especially the bathrooms are stunning. The beds are extremely comfortable and all rooms have AC. The hotel is located in the middle of the old town, just below the castle and in walking distance to the train station and the port. The peole at the front desk are always friendly and welcoming. They provide information on what to do or where to eat. It is my go to hotel in Rapperswil! ♥️ The restaurant itself is really cool. There was really good jazzy live music when we were there. Our waiter was charming and recommended fish in a salt crust, a speciality from Italy 🇮🇹. It was amazing. My wive had the carbonara, and she said it is the best she ever had 🍝. They have an extensive wine card, with reasonable prices and some some rare finds. Highly recommend staying or eating there. You will not be disappointed

Lovely small hotel with its own lively bar in the middle of Rapperswil. The rooms are well presented, simple and spotless. The bed was very comfortable. The owners are very friendly and can be found serving and chatting with customers in the bar/restaurant every night. The menu is a great selection. I only went for the simple burger, but it was exceptional. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in the area.

We went to this restaurant for coffee and desserts on a Thursday afternoon. It was half empty, only the terrace was full, we were the only table inside. The two coffees we asked for, came fairly quickly. We also asked for a lemon sorbet, and they literally brought it to the table in the carton container from the supermarket!! Very classy.... After waiting for more than 40 minutes, the ice cream my son asked for, finally came. I wish I could write this review with ZERO stars, this doesn't even deserve one. If this is how they operate being half empty, one can only imagine how it would be on a Friday night. Not coming back, for sure.
