We spent a week travelling across Switzerland by train and spent one night in this hotel during September. We walked from the railway station which took about 10 minutes, following a map downloaded from Multimap. As we approached the hotel we realised it was a traditional looking Swiss building, and my partner immediately said, We're staying in a cuckoo clock!
The front door opens in the main bar/restaurant area. The area to the left is a bar, and several locals were enjoying evening drinks. To the right is a restaurant area, also used for breakfasts in the morning.
After checking in, at the bar, we were taken up two flights of stairs to our bedroom, one of the girls carried my bag for me. Our bathroom was next door to our room, and though for our exculsive use wasn't ensuite. The room was large, clean and airy. As in all the places we stayed in Switzerland, there were two single beds rather than a double. There was lots of hanging space. The window looked out towards the mountains behind the hotel. Our bathroom inlcuded both a bath (the only one we found during our six nights) and a shower. The bathroom felt spacious and clean, towels and shower gel were provided, though no soap.
We ate dinner in the restaurant, both staff members present were very friendly. There seemed to be locals coming into eat as well as other hotel residents, probably twenty people eating altogether. The menu included fondues, pasta dishes, two vegetarians dishes, pork and beef dishes as well as starters and ice cream desserts.
Breakfast was a buffet, with tea, coffee or hot chocolate brought to the table. The buffet included three cereals - cornflakes, museli and something that could have been Cinnamon Grahams. There was also bread, a selection of cheese and cold meats, and orange juice.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The total price for a double room, breakfast and our evening meals was CHF 177.40.
