A decent place to stay in Montreal. It's a small, unpretentious apart-hotel in an older building. Everything is fairly clean. The rooms have kitchenettes and they used to leave a croissant in a bag on your doorknob in the morning which was a nice touch. Service is always friendly. Hotel is very well-located right on St-Denis; lots of places to visit and see in the area. The rooms on the courtyard are very quiet and relaxing. I've found that recently the experience hasn't bees as great considering prices have stayed around the same but the rooms seem less clean, and no more croissant / drinks included :(

Staying at this place was a great experience. The receptionist was so lovely, helpful and friendly. The free croissants every morning were an added delight! If you're looking for an affordable place to stay in this neighbourhood don't hesitate to book a room here.

I got one of the smaller hotel rooms. It was small but just fine for me. These are older European style buildings so you can not expect a massive room. For the price point the rooms were nice and clean. Reception staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. In the mornings you get a choice of some bread or a croissant that they leave on your door in the morning ready for you when you are ready to eat. The rooms have a little kitchen with an oven, refrigerator, microwave and toaster oven. Just pop what ever you choose to have for breakfast into the toaster oven and put some of the jellies they supply to you and your good to go! Also they stock the fridge with juice and water. You are welcome to have them free of charge. They also supply wines. Those are not free. My one complaint and it's really not the hotels fault. But if your room is in the same floor as the check-in area, it can be quite loud at night as there is a Jazz club right under you that plays late into the night. Again this is not the hotels fault as they have no control over this. Also I wish they had curtains in the room. I felt as though the blinds did not close enough and people outside can see in and let a lot of light in at night. Overall. I had a good stay and would choose to book again.

Very quaint little hotel. It almost felt secretive with how small their sign was. But once inside, I was met with friendly service and a clean room. It was a little warm in the night, but bearable. I also scraped my shin on the bed frame because it was hidden under the sheets and I didn't know it came up so high. It was my fault, but just look out for that if you stay here!

Google
We liked the location, from which it was 1.5 miles to old town and shorter distances to the Latin Quarter and park on top of the hill, with many restaurants in all 3 neighborhoods. There were many steps up to our good-size room, with a kitchenette. The staff were very helpful and fluent in English.

Google
A friendly, charming boutique hotel in the midst of a great Bohemian neighborhood. It had a small in-room kitchenette with cutlery and plates, cups and wine glasses, with free bottled water and juices. They hang croissants on your doorknob in the mornings. You can warm them in your toaster oven and use any of the individual jams and butters that are in your mini-fridge. Make some coffee to go with your pastries! There is only an extra charge if you decide to open any of the wines they leave in your room.

A delightfully charming little hotel, located on top of a Jazz bar. I've been there a couple times, and always planned on taking a girl up there on a romantic getaway. The staff is friendly and helpful (even patient with Americans), and although it's a far cry from the uber-modern anesthetic hotel skyrises of Downtown Montreal, this quaint stopping point on Rue St. Denis is everything you could want in a quiet little hotel.

This was a cute hotel in a great location, but it’s getting worn out. The mattress and pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, the toilet wouldn’t stop running and our room filled with the smell of onions through the vent at 7am. Time for a reno, or lower the price.

Yelp
A decent, less expensive hotel in a good location of Montreal about 8 minutes walking from Mont Royal metro station. Staff is friendly and are able to speak English. They hang one of a choice of 3 different breads on the doorknob each morning around 6AM. The hotel is above the ground floor, so you have to climb some steps to get to the main hotel floor. The only complaint I have was being on the first floor, it was so noisy. I think there was a night club downstairs or something. If I were to come back, I would most likely ask for a room at a different side of the hotel.

Yelp
I've stayed at Anne Ma Soeur Anne twice now and I always think of it as quite the bargain. The first time I visited Montréal, I stayed at one of Delta's properties, your usual corporate/salaryman hotel. Needless to say, it was underwhelming. On the other hand, Anne Ma Soeur Anne has done all the things right. For example, at the Big Corporate Hotel™, there was no free Wifi access and even worse, not even a fridge. Little Hotel That Could™ had both. Anne Ma Soeur Anne is nothing fancy but all I'm looking for in a hotel is a clean place to hang out and watch some television (or surf the internet) while I relax from a long day of sightseeing. While it's not fancy, that doesn't mean that it doesn't have its charms. The daily croissants left at the door are cute and if you have a room that's facing away from St-Denis, you really have no idea that on the other side of the hotel is one of Montréal's busiest streets. My favourite thing about this place is its incredible location. It's within walking distance to many of the areas of Montréal I usually hang out in (Plateau, Mile End, etc) and it's close to a ton of great restaurants and shopping along both St-Denis and The Main. Not to mention that La Banquise is a very short walk away for that drunken three in the morning Poutine snack. Highly, highly recommended and a great value for a hotel. Just don't expect a flat screen HDTV, room service and an in hotel spa treatment centre and you'll be fine.

Yelp
Funny name. Too bad this place didn't have a little more character to match that. But it's still cute. Small boutique/bed and breakfast-style hotel. Rooms are quite small, but most have access to outdoor balconies. Ours had a hammock which we enjoyed on a beautiful summer day! The bathroom was small, but really, how much time are you going to spend in the bathroom during your stay? We were barely in there, because it was our first time in Montreal and we wanted to go explore. Good for the price and in a great area! Just steps away from excellent shopping and restaurants. One of your best bets for the area and price.

Yelp
Pro's: * Location! * Terrace rooms * Friendly & accommodating staff * Luggage storage Con's: * The AC is controlled by the front desk, so if you take a hot shower on a warm day you will bake in your room. * The wifi is spotty. I wound up using the nearby resto's. * If you're sharing a room, make sure it's with someone you're really close with because it's cramped. * A lot of stairs, if you're carrying heavy luggage (they rarely help)

Yelp
We loved this hotel and it's a great discovery. Very well thought out space in a great location. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Parking is an issue and the front stairs are daunting for anyone with a slight disability but there are good restaurants and bars literally in the same block. I felt bad that we only had one night here as we felt right at home and cared for.

Yelp
good for the price hotel close to everything in montreal. the room was clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. the balcony area was nice to wind down the night on before bed and is close to whatever food your trying to eat. if your not looking for anything special and need a place to stay i would recomend this place.

Yelp
No complaints really, it's a great place to stay in a cool area. I have no complaints, I came here with a car and they set me up with directions to a lot that was not too expensive and the room was clean enough, a bit plain but who's here to stay in their room?!

Yelp
Location is PERFECT. We pretty much walked everywhere, and when we couldn't, we drove which was super easy in and out. The room itself was clean, but pretty small. It was overlooking a jazz bar which was playing pretty loud music until 3am, but I brought some earplugs and was fine. The rooms have a Murphy Bed, so when you put it back up, it does give you a bit more room. They give you free bottled water, OJ, wifi access and croissants in the morning. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, check in was easy and again, talk about location. I am a bit annoyed that I paid over $100 to stay here considering the size of the room. I've stayed at the Hotel St-Denis which is bigger, and costs less. That would be my only complaint, but I think that considering all else, made me feel a little bit better.

Yelp
Overall, staying here was pretty good. For me the highlight was the location, in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood, on the main thoroughfare of Rue St-Denis, easy walking distance from so many fabulous places to eat (and the main reason I come to Montreal is to eat!). It's not a bad walk to downtown, either, or if you prefer it's right in between the Sherbrooke and Mont-Royal metro stations, a few minutes walk to either. For such a small and simple place there are quite a few amenities - croissants every morning, kitchenette and coffee maker in our room, complimentary bottled water and orange juice. There was free wifi, but as our rooms were in the far back corner, we couldn't get a strong signal and could only use the wifi while in the hallway. The main reason we stayed here was because we could get a 2-bd suite for a reasonable price. The suite didn't have a common living room area, it was basically just 2 regular rooms attached to each other, but it did have a nice little outdoor porch. I'm sure it would have been much nicer in the summertime, but we didn't use the porch much since on most days it was raining or snowing. The beds were murphy beds, so if you wanted more space you could put them away, but unfortunately we found them extremely uncomfortable for sleeping on. After 5 nights we were definitely looking forward to going home and sleeping in our own beds. I'm not sure if I'd stay here again, but it's certainly a nice contrast to a big hotel, the prices are reasonable, and like I said, the location is great if you're looking to hang out in this particular part of town.

Yelp
It's a very basic hotel. If you want a place to shower and sleep, this is it. If hanging out in a hotel is your thing, don't stay here. It's in a good location. It's also MUCH closer to Mont Royal than Sherbrooke metro station.
