We were very happy we opted to stay in Ferrara instead of Bologna. Peaceful, walkable town. Loved this hotel. Beautiful, very clean, and really good smelling. Family of 3 and had a spacious room and awesome bathroom. The breakfast is indeed wonderful. Great customer service. All sights and eating establishments are accessible via foot from this hotel.

The location was perfect across the piazza from the castle and a block or so to the center of the historic district. The room was fine and breakfast was a quality standard buffet selection. The hotel does not have its own parking, but could pay the city rate for daily public parking at the front desk. We needed to park a couple blocks away and were fortunate to find the last open space beside the post office.

Never by bicycle! We had to pay 5 euros per bike for an uncovered(!) parking space in another building about 200 meters from the hotel. We have been travelling by bike for over 20 years and this was the first time we had to pay. Even in Rome, Bologna and other cities, the bikes were always kept safely in a storage room or a closed garage, free of charge. The hotel itself and the rooms are absolutely fine, the staff very nice, the breakfast top class and the price fair. We can highly recommend the hotel without bikes.

Location is great. Room is okay, but odd layout. Very little pressure with the shower water. No coffee or tea in the room. You have to go to the front receptionist to heat water if you want hot water. Will give you a thermal for free or let you use a small glass cup for 5 euros. Again, doesn’t make sense. What kind of 4 star hotel doesn’t have that in each room? It should be basic and very standard. This hotel needs to up its standards. Overall should not be this highly rated.

Fantastic family vacation for New Year’s festivities at Hotel Annunciata. If you book one of the castle view rooms, you can watch the amazing “castle burning” New Year’s Eve fireworks show from the comfort of your room. The hotel has a wonderful hot and cold breakfast, with a very large assortment of teas and and jellies… real honey and even had salmon and caviar! Truly the best assortment of choices we have ever seen. As a family, we spent time playing cards in the accomodating lounge, and played some vinyls on the new record player. There is also a bitters bar, art gallery, bicycles available to use, and excellent dining suggestions. There is a refillable water machine for free to the guests—you can choose the exact type of water you want to drink. The room was very comfortable and because the hotel is well-located in the center of town, there’s an abundance of shopping, bars, and restaurants very close by. We put our adult children up in the newly refurbished loft annex which was very roomy. All four of them were very comfortable in the suite which had a very large bathroom and an extra space with a fussball table! In the main area of the loft there were exercise machines and an exercise ball for use. The annex is just steps away from the main hotel in the heart of Ferrara. All in all, the owners and staff were very professional and kind!! Fabulous family run hotel that we highly recommend!

I can't say enough great things about this hotel and the staff. Everything and everyone was fantastic. When I go back to visit friends, I will stay there every time. Thank you, everyone, for being so kind. And the location is perfect. Right across the parking lot from the castle, restaurants, shopping, museums, and so much more to see.❤️

This review is specific to the Annex, not the main hotel building. We stayed there in early June 2025 as we toured around Italy on a bicycle. The hotel (annex) is bike friendly - they have a nice storage area for bikes inside the annex, complete with a tire pump and some tools. They even provide locks. Well done in this respect. Unfortunately, our experience quickly became the most uncomfortable of any hotel or B&B during the three weeks we had been touring. There was a slight sewer smell as we walked into the annex, and as we entered the bike storage area, the smell was very strong. However, the real issue was the lack of adequate air conditioning. The room temperature was 24.5 degrees Celsius when we initially entered the room. We turned the air conditioning on, but the AC unit was blowing only slightly cooled air. Within an hour, the temperature had risen to 25.5 degrees and stayed that way all night, long after the outside temperature dropped. The hotel staff insisted that since the AC unit was blowing even slightly cooled air, it was working properly, which is simply ridiculous. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that room would be in July and August. We are aware there was another guest in the annex with the same issue that night. Either the AC unit needs to be serviced (e.g., check the refrigerant charge), or it is woefully undersized for the room. We tried opening the windows late in the evening to cool the room, but the sewer gas smell was too strong outside...our room was right above the bike storage area. While there are some positive aspects to the hotel (e.g., large rooms), we would absolutely not stay there again, nor can we recommend it.

The hotel is in a very central location and is a small boutique hotel. Excellent and very helpful service by Max. A visit to the castle is worthwhile and is directly opposite the hotel. Rooms are small but good. Follow closely the directions to find it!

Yelp
The hotel annunziata is amazing, but nothing is better than the service from Massimo, he is the absolute best. Not only did he help us coordinate our transportation for the weekend, but he also gave us a fun and informative history lesson on Ferrara. 5 stars for Massimo.
