Wow, wow, wow this hotel. We booked one of the rooms with the courtyard and bathtub and it was well worth the extra $. Our room was spacious and spotless. We were obsessed with the provided pajamas. Staff were very helpful and kind. The lobby was gorgeous and we loved the little gift shop. Do not sleep on the ice cream in the lobby or the breakfast. Both are 10/10. Getting around Kyoto from this hotel was really easy with cabs seconds away and subways, trains within a walkable distance. I loved Kyoto and when I'm back I'll definitely be staying here again.

A really cosy and pleasant experience at the Anteroom Hotel Kyoto. At first we were a bit tentative to book this hotel, given it is a little way out of the city centre. But it's only two stops on the subway, which is frequent and easy, as well as being located close to several bus routes that can take you to other parts of the city quickly. Taxi service quick and efficient too. The rooms are spacious, and as we had a garden room the outlook was very relaxing and pleasing. The common areas are comfortable and welcoming, and the bar area is great for a drink after a busy day sight seeing or night out. I would definitely recommend staying here for your trip to Kyoto!

A Cozy Slice of Cool in Kyoto 🍵🛌||We stayed at Anterooms for three nights and left feeling like we’d just vacationed inside a minimalist art gallery curated by a very hip Zen monk.||Yes, the rooms are small—but in a delightfully efficient, capsule-of-calm kind of way. The bed is basically a big, marshmallowy mattress on the floor, which felt like a sleepover for grownups (in the best possible way). We practically rolled from the bed to the bath, which, though compact, is a deep, steamy little cocoon of bliss. Perfect after a long day temple-trekking and noodle-slurping.||The whole vibe is effortlessly cool without trying too hard. Think concrete chic meets Kyoto soul. Would we stay here again? In a heartbeat. Just maybe bring a suitcase you can maneuver ninja-style.

We loved our stay here. We were here for 5 nights, and checkin was easy. Staff were really nice and always greeted us when we left for the day or on our return. The room was quite large (for Japanese standards). We had a lovely view from the 9th floor. There is a desk with bath salts which you can add various scents to (these were fantastic after long days of walking). The hotel is a small walk from a train station.|Breakfast is an extra cost but so worth it. They have what they call sandwiches which they change up every day. Absolutely delicious. These are handed to you as you enter, then you help yourself to the buffet. |A bar is on site but we never used it.|There are combinis nearby and a coffee shop on the way to the train station. We would recommend Hotel Anteroom Kyoto and will return.

I loved this hotel! The rooms were very big and spacious, with plenty of room for our luggage and shopping bags. The only downside was that the shower wasn’t the most comfortable. We really liked the hotel’s vibe and the breakfast was a solid continental spread with plenty of options. Even though it’s not located right in the middle of the tourist attractions, we appreciated the calm and quiet surroundings and there’s a great teppanyaki restaurant nearby.

Loved our stay in the concept room designed by Teppei Kaneuji. Massive room! Loved the bath and the bath salt bar in the lobby. Great after a long day walking around Kyoto. Love the general vibes of this place from the art in the lobby to the funky bar and the gift shop. Appreciated the ice machine and the filtered water dispenser - vital during the epic heatwave. Plenty of places to eat nearby as well as a Lawson, Family Mart, 7 Eleven and a supermarket. Staff friendly, super helpful and very accomodating our lack of Japanese.

Warm and friendly staff and atmosphere. Beautiful art and decor throughout. Breakfast is totally worth 2,000yen especiallyif you're hungry; delicious and a wide assortment. Comfortable beds and the largest room we have had during our hotel stays in Japan.

I have mixed feelings about Intergate Kanazawa — here’s why: Location: Not terrible, but definitely not central. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the nearest metro, which isn’t ideal. Building/Design: The place feels like a stylishly repurposed warehouse or factory, with an industrial-cool vibe. The rooms are surprisingly spacious — a rare find in Japan at this price point. The bathroom looks like a mini public bath, which oddly adds to the charm. Lobby & Gallery: Visually interesting, but the “art” leans heavily into the tortured, misunderstood-artist genre. Nothing that really stands out. Breakfast: This was the biggest letdown, despite the rave reviews. The house sandwiches are tiny and overly processed, with cheap sauces and generic bread — honestly, a Family Mart toast would hit better. The rest of the buffet has its moments: smoothies, microgreens, yogurt, granola, potatoes, and some veggies. But the protein options are disappointing — limp commercial sausages, watery scrambled eggs, and oily bacon. And by the way, as an Italian, I can assure you: what you’re serving as “olive oil” is definitely not olive oil. Stylish setting aside, the breakfast doesn’t deliver.

Yelp
Stayed in the Hotel Anteroom for three nights. It is a 10 minute walk from the main Kyoto Station with a bus stop & Kujo Subway steps away. There is a small gift shop & art gallery in the lobby. There is s separate smoking room so we didn't see or smell any smoke. The small washers and dryers were really appreciated! Our room 201 was quiet, comfortable & clean. It was large with a frig @ patio. Breakfast was included from 6:30 until 11 daily. The warm pastries, salads, fruits, juices, smoothies, sandwiches, cereals, cappuccinos ... were a great way to start the day. The English speaking knowledgeable staff made our trip very special. There were too many wonderful people to call out! They helped us navigate the attractions, transportation, shops ... everything Kyoto!!! I hate to leave!

Yelp
If you plan to long stay this is nice to stay. They have wash machine ( automatic detergent in ) and dryer! Clean nice place. Refrigerator, pot , tv in room. They have special breakfast. If you need anything, no worries. Close to hotel convince store, small market. They have map for close restaurants. About 20 min to Kyoto station, 10 min to Kujo subway station by slow walk.

Yelp
Excellent place to stay! We arrived later than expected, and as we were checking in (around 11pm), one of the staff promptly brought us out cold bottles of water. The walk from Kyoto Station was longer than we'd have liked, but you get used to it. There are other closer stops on the metro, but we usually just walked. It is very convenient and close to shops, restaurants, shopping, stores, and attractions. The staff was absolutely amazing. I wish we had been able to stay longer! The décor was fantastic. The Art-Pop theme works in what looks to have been a complete revamp of an older run of the mill Japanese hotel with smaller rooms that have been renovated in to larger rooms by knocking down a wall. The lobby was fun and funky, as was the bar area and breakfast restaurant. The hotel hallways were 'standard' utilitarian japan, with that tan color paint and green lettering, but it worked so well, especially because there would be odd touches like a door handle that was a skate board wheel chassis, or some funky artwork at the end of a hall. The room was large, comfortable, ultra modern, with great furniture and fixtures. The bathroom was lengthwise down the side of the room, and the bath area was large. I loved it. Lets talk about the breakfast. It was phenomenal! Its prepaid at the front desk, or you can add it on each day when checking in. You choose a main item (I think you could add multiple main items, but there was a slight language barrier), then you can get drinks, salads, and other stuff off of the buffet as sides. And it was all good! I can't recommend this place enough! I will DEFINITELY stay here again when in Kyoto. Price was good, worth the money. Next time I'm there, I will have to schedule at least a half day to just enjoy the hotel and art.
