We had a great experience staying at this hotel! Although it's rated as a three-star property, keep in mind that it’s three stars in Venice—which is definitely not the same as a three-star elsewhere. The charm and quality here exceeded our expectations. You won’t find a lot of reviews about this hotel, but I did come across a YouTube vlog by a mother who shared her family stay here. She said it was a really good choice—and she turned out to be absolutely right! We booked a Prestige Room with Canal View and specifically requested Room 101, which we saw on TikTok or YouTube (can't recall exactly where). The photos already impressed us, but the reality was even better. The ceiling was much higher than expected, which gave the room a beautiful, airy feel. The hotel still shows older pictures online, with an outdated TV, but we were happy to find a newer TV already installed. The amenities were excellent—truly some of the best I’ve experienced in a hotel of this category. Breakfast was on the smaller side, but absolutely sufficient. The cakes and pastries were quite decent, and having them in such a beautiful, old-style interior made it feel like we were stepping back in time—in the best way possible.A huge shoutout to the staff, who were all genuinely kind and accommodating. We felt their hospitality in even the smallest gestures, and it was very much appreciated.Lastly, the location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the Rialto Bridge, close to everything. Being so near the heart of Venice made it easy to go out and explore, then return to rest and recharge. It's also conveniently close to shopping areas, which is a nice bonus. All in all, this hotel was a hidden gem. If you're looking for a stay that combines charm, comfort, location, and authentic Venetian vibes, this is a fantastic choice. That mother on YouTube was right—it really is a great choice!

We stayed at Hotel Antico Doge for three nights in May 2025. We had anticipated there would be some Venice quirky, like sloping floors, small rooms / bathrooms. Unfortunately, our most expensive hotel stay in our thirty-five days in Italy was memorable, but for all the wrong reasons. When we arrived, we were told that the Air Conditioning was “deactivated”, the following day that became “not working”. We knew from a previous visit to Venice that sleeping with the windows open is an open invitation to the resident mosquito population. Worse yet, our “Superior Room” overlooked a restaurant patio, that closed around 10:00 PM, at which time they started packing up tables and folding chairs. We voiced our concerns to the Resident Manager, and she offered to refund a percentage of the cost. She also offered a fan (which proved to be useless) and a plug-in mosquito repellent, oddly not offered at check-in. As of twelve weeks after the offer was made, no refund has been received, just a lot of stalling. The hotel includes breakfast, it’s not great. The rubbery, steam table scrambled eggs were about the only hot item. If you don’t pick the first sitting and arrive early, the small selection of fresh fruit will be gone, and like many other items, not replenished. The server was unfriendly, spent a lot of time hiding in the back while we, and others sat with empty coffee cups. There is no lift, except the entry stairs that has a handicap platform-type apparatus for wheelchairs. This only provides access to the reception level, the hallways are also quite narrow. Hotel Antico Doge is in a very good location, I wish I had more good things to say about it. Based on my experience, and that of our travel mates, Hotel Antico Doge survives solely on its location.

We stayed at Hotel Antico Doge during our honeymoon and had a lovely experience overall. Pros: * The staff was fantastic—very friendly and helpful. They assisted us with our bags upon arrival (note: there’s no elevator) and gave great advice on navigating Venice, including how to get to the airport at 3 a.m. * The hotel and rooms were charming, with a classic Venetian feel. Our room had a private hallway with a door, which helped reduce noise from other guests. * The windows were well-sealed, keeping out street noise unless opened. * The room was well-equipped with a mini-fridge, TV, make-up desk, closet, bidet, toilet, mini-safe, sink, and stand-up shower. Cons: * The air conditioning was underwhelming. It kept the room from getting hot, but never quite made it cool. * Breakfast was average—not bad, but nothing memorable Overall, a great stay in a beautiful, historic hotel with excellent service. Would recommend, especially for couples looking for a romantic, authentic Venetian experience.

Nice hotel in a great location. Close to Rialto bridge and other sights. There is a small gondola station right outside and water taxis can stop there or across the canal by the ice cream shop. There is no lift and you have to take your luggage up some stairs to get to reception. Room was reasonably large and nicely decorated. We asked for canal views and that's what we got. It is not quiet though, so bear that in mind. Shower doors wouldn't close properly, so bathroom floor was wet after every shower. Breakfast is very limited. Croissants, muffins, bread and a toaster. Almost no hot food options. Coffee was good. Staff were generally nice and helpful. This is a 3 star hotel, so don't expect lots of luxury. It is great for what it is, especially considering its location and accessibility.

This hotel was awesome! The only drawback was that because of how old it was it had a wet smell at times. They have a great sitting area at night for relaxation. Service was amazing and so was the breakfast!

We wanted location and value specifically, which this hotel impressively features, but we were just as thrilled with our room, the staff, and breakfast amenity. Our family of four (with a 10 and 13yo) had a spacious suite with two full bathrooms. The kids comfortably slept on a couch and roll out bed. The hotel is beautifully decorated in ornate, baroque decor which is fabulously Venetian. Most importantly, our rooms were clean and well-kept. Another plus is that we couldn't hear outdoor or hallway noise. The staff we encountered were exceptionally kind and always helpful. Beginning each day with an amazing warm breakfast and cappuccino made-to-order was a welcoming, wonderful way to enjoy Venezia. Once we learned routes filled with many turns and twists of alleyways, we realized the walk to major sights were close and enjoyably scenic. We suggest taking a scenic water taxi ride of some sort (although crowded) from the St. Lucia train station. It's a bit of a walk even with just carry on luggage, but Antico Doge is the place to be in Venice!!!

Pungent smell immediately when entering room, which never left.|We left the light and fan on in the bathroom all night in an attempt to rid us from the smell. No joy.|Bathroom tiny, approx 30 cm between toilet/bidet & vanity.|Shower mixer wouldn’t stay up so rather awkward to shower.|We plugged our phones into the bedroom sockets and got a few sparks, decided not to leave them plugged in.|Air con didn’t work so had to leave window open in order to try and air the smell, loud outside all night.|Air con had an LCD screen but couldn’t locate any ducted system, assume the old heater vent is the exhaust?|Sticky doors hard to open and close.|Aside from these defects, lovely quaint character place

The best hotel I’ve ever stayed in on my travels!!!! Wow, amazing location for making your way around the city and the rooms are absolutely gorgeous. You truly feel like you are indulged in the Venetian experience here. The staff are incredibly helpful with any queries, assistance with luggage and helping you find your way around the city. Breakfast was well organised and always well made. I hope to stay here again in the future!!

Yelp
A nice hotel in a fantastic location. The rooms were very Venetian--over the top decorations, while still being livable. We had an extra bed in our room, for our third person, which was a more than comfortable enough divan. The bathroom got a bit loud at night (we faced a courtyard, rather than the canal) but I didn't notice any noise in the main room, and it didn't keep me up at night. The room had a private bathroom with a bidet (can't say how it worked, but if it's important to you, it's there) and a nice shower, and they provided a 2-in-1 shampoo/shower gel, and ample towels. The breakfast had good coffee (cappuccino, hot chocolate, pretty much anything you wanted, they could make), with a limited amount of mostly sweet pastries and fruit. I'd stay again, if I returned to Venice, as its location was near both the water bus station, a private taxi mooring, and several restaurants.

Yelp
If you want to be in the heart of touristy Venice, this is your place. Despite the crowds this hotel is completely quiet. The morning continental breakfast is terrific. It's a bit of a walk from the train station, but that's not so bad when you think of it. Before noon on the walk? Cappuccino! After noon? Glass of wine. Or you can miss all the action by taking a water taxi to arrive. (Shame on you!) There are plenty of good restaurants just off the beaten track, right over that bridge. What bridge? Oh golly, I have no idea. Just be sure to get a bit lost to guarantee the best exploring. If I ever make a third trip to Venice I'd stay a couple of hundred yards further from the hubbub, but you can't go wrong at Antico Doge.

Yelp
Great hotel and great location.... our first time in Venice, helpful idea get a pocket compass and you will be good to go! Easy to get lost in Venice streets are not straight lots of bridges. Staff was great & helped us call our airline and delivery company with regards to a lost suitcase during travel! !! Breakfast was lovely, fruit , pastries and coffee! Always a selection of boiled eggs, sliced cheese and meats... staff was super helpful. We would definitely repeat our stay at this hotel.

Yelp
Been to this hotel twice and twice the service and cleanliness of this hotel is immaculate. They have this cute indoor garden sitting area on the second floor and they serve the best morning breakfast to all their guests with fresh cappuccino. The rooms we stayed at on two of our visits had Windows facing a beautiful antique building with not tenants. We would see the tides move in bellow when night time would fall and it was the most romantic experience ever. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will most likely stay there again if they have availability. Might I mention you don't have to share a restroom like some of the hotels in Venice and the restrooms are something out of a magazine. The hotel is a close walk to every shop and site in Venice.
