Horrible place, my mom travel specially from Miami for a very important event in Punta and stay at this place, not only she was accused of being a thief by the Hotel people!!! also the place is disgusting, moments later they found what was missing lol, I couldn’t recommend less this place, also, everything is very poor quality, if you’re in a vacation, DONT COME HERE! Worst stay ever!!!

I never take time to write a critic on tripadvisor but this time I felt it is essential to prevent others from experiencing such an ordeal. I have spend my life travelling around the globe and I have never seen such a terrible hotel. Fully paid reservations were made in Oct 2016 (160 USD X 4 nights for a super deluxe suite) and here I was entering the hotel on Feb 23rd 2017. ||||UPON ENTRANCE a dog is always present in the hotel which belongs to the manager, eating and taking a piss anywhere in the lobby! ||||RECEPTION DESK. Nobody speaks a damn word in English. Young people who look at you making no effort to communicate. I got the key and I enter the suite. I am referring to a cage with not a single window!!! ... I run downstairs and raise hell with the reception. Finally I speak with the lady manager who in poor English she offers me a suite for an extra charge of 35 USD per night. I show her my reservations where it clearly stated that I paid for a suite. She smiled and said that she will give me the suite with no extra charge as if she was doing me a favor. ||||ROOMS No need to make any comments for the suite. PLEASE LOOK AT MY PHOTOS ALL TAKEN on the 23rd of Feb 2017!! ....|||| BREAKFAST??? For 4 days I didn't touch a thing as I was afraid that I might get sick. The coffee pot was broken and stitched together with duck-tape!! The dog kept walking around people having their breakfast. No need to mention that the TV set was not working. Needless to explain this to people who don't speak English. TOWELS are not be changed daily unless specified by the customer. ||||People please stay away from this filth!!! If you want your money worth try the place where my brother stayed during the same period with the same rate 160 USD per night!||||https://www.tripadvisor.co.nz/ShowUserReviews-g294066-d11999164-r455013734-Hotel_Sea_View-Punta_del_Este_Maldonado_Department.html

Two nights off-season in the beautiful seaside city of Punta Del Este, Uruguay. Hotel Aqua was, as expected, fairly empty off-season mid-week. The location is more "town" than "beach" but not a problem with the early autumn winds of Punta howling! Central city location meant, even off-season, there were lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Nothing particularly negative to say about the place but nothing stood out either. The room was large, clean, and had an outdoor terrace where parrots noisily but enjoyable flocked every morning. The only real problem was an almost complete lack of electrical outlets. To recharge any device, I had to put it in the bathroom sink and recharge via the shaver power outlet. There were NO unused outlets in the room. The staff, as I found true everywhere in Uruguay, were pleasant and always anxious to be helpful. Breakfast was adequate and the servers very pleasant but English was a bit of a problem. Would I stay there again? Yes. But it must be accepted for what it is--a pleasant beach town hotel where one spends very little time in his hotel room.

Room doorknobs will open with a Hairpin. Safebox set so high most persons will find it difficult to Rea ha. Room Floorcarpet worn out and stained. Room small but for the price wouldn’t have expected a larger one even at a 5* hotel. Breakfast: skimmed milk only on demand brought to youu in a cup, but cups on the table are Dirty. Hot water hard to get because they bring a pítcher at a time. A guest asked for fruit salad (Canned type, not fresh) and the answer was there was no more because they had replaced the bowl where it is served already twice. Untasty fruir. Umbrella juice coffee ( in spanish we call that a black water with no taste or smell of coffee) Overall aspect is dirty, disattended. Forget getting there with a car: no parking and hard to find where to park, even payed parking lots.||Very central. Employees are Uruguayans and that means that they are nice and good people, but these have Little or no ttraining in their jobs

My boyfriend and I used Hotwire to book a 4 day/3 night trip to Punta del Este and we were assigned Hotel Aqua. We got a standard room with a queen sized bed. Upon entering the hotel, it smells like mildew and feels stuffy. The room itself was extremely small.....but understandable given the low price of $95/night we paid during high season. What isn't justifiable is the stained bedsheets that felt gross. These were super thin bedsheets that weren't even typical hotel sheets. They were almost translucent and had stains on them. The carpet is stained and smells very strange. The shower was extremely small and had a flooding problem. Towels are stained and look like they have been used for years. The room is extremely dusty and in extreme need of cleaning and renovation. Breakfast was all stale. Wifi did not work in the room, only lobby. We ended up getting allergies from all the dust and stuffiness of the room that we cut our trip short to 2 nights because it was unbearable. You may be paying a lower price than the other places nearby, but it is NOT worth it. You might as well find something a little farther or maybe even opt for a hostel (which probably is a cleaner option that this awful hotel).

Spent 3 days too many over the weekend. Great location - over priced for the lack of quality of experience. ||||The entire building needs a massive make over. Strange smell in lobby, skylight covered up by blue tarp, carpets are so worn and stained, doors and security into rooms were like hollow wood doors. At least they had a safe. No wifi in room, only in lobby.||||Breakfast buffet was disappointing - from sugar to coffee to the bread was stale - for a world class Resort Barrio - i would say this hotel does not help Punta Del Este reputation.

From the stained carpets in the hallways and our room, to the threadbare towels and linens (also stained) and the chipped paint on the walls, this hotel is a disgrace. Breakfast was put out in a very unappealing manner and the tables were rarely cleared promptly. ||On a positive note, the staff (front desk and cleaning) were generally friendly and helpful. They deserve to be working in a finer establishment.

I will give Aqua 3 1/2 stars. It has many positives and negatives going for it, but the most important thing to keep in mind is context that A) this is an older hotel and B) this is Uruguay. First the good stuff - aqua can be very affordable on the booking sites, with tiny bare bones rooms for 89 us. We stayed in a jr suite for 150US a night and had a huge 10x20 terrace that made the place ( only 4 rooms have these). The breakfast is big and plentiful, one of the better we have had in South America. Location - a few blocks from Mansa beach, Gordelero, shopping, bars, restaurants, great location right amongst a fashion district. The not so good - its old and kinda dirty, and in need of service and upgrade, but to their credit they are making improvements that i could see, fresh paint, new towels, ect. So effort is there. I read some spanish reveiws that the service is poor but we never had any problems, Uruguayans can be kinda gruff so remeber to tip a little bit and it makes all the difference. So stay here if you can look past the gritty and get a good deal on a hotel in the heart of the punta peninsula.
