Unfortunately, my stay was quite disappointing. The staff was cold and unwelcoming, offering no useful information about the hotel or the area. Whenever I asked for help, the responses were curt and arrogant, as if I were a bother rather than a guest. Definitely not the level of service one would expect from a hospitality business.

A popular restaurant, it seemed. Our room was spacious but the road outside was busy from 5am so we had to shut the window on a very hot evening. Food was ok. We had their wine tasting during the meal, 2 whites, 2 reds & a dessert wine. Packed lunch for hiking was very good. Cooked breakfasts started at 8am but we were able to start earlier. It's predominantly wine growing area, with a wine-related hike, a museum & historic links to the Order of the Knights of Malta. The Green Lizard trail was a simple post-meal evening circular walk.

I recently visited the hotel in March. It's a charming, welcoming place at the center of the picturesque town of Salgesch and exudes warmth and personality. The rooms were clean and included many thoughtful touches. With comfy beds too! The hosts were very friendly and served a tasty and large continental breakfast )complete with a yummy selection of French cheeses). I also enjoyed lunch at the hotel, which was delicious and a huge portion. If you're lucky you just might leave with a jar of homemade jam made from their own grapes that grow along the terrace!

The personalized service and the cordial hospitality was much appreciated. The manager goes the extra mile to make his guests comfortable and feel welcome according to the motto: “Come as a guest and leave as a friend”. Our stay was a delightful experience with cherished memories of a very good stay. We are glad to have stopped here and highly recommend the Hotel Arkanum to anyone considering an overnight or several in Salgesch. Dan H.

Visited for two nights in July. Lovely hotel, great sleepy little village & the staff can not be more helpful. Great menu as we stayed half board & the four course evening meal was superb. Included a vegetarian option as well. Used the train service extensively, which fulfilled all the Swiss stereotypes; frequent, on time & great facilities. However the trains were not cheap.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while traveling through Switzerland. I can’t say enough about the staff. They were friendly and so helpful. You could tell they really wanted to make our stay lovely. The views in Salgesch are beautiful! Luckily the hotel had bikes we could rent. The food was good and very clean.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable, clean and quiet bedroom. Seating / eating on a shaded terrace in front of the hotel on a quiet road in the centre of town. Food very pleasant. Local wines. 15 minute walk to the station.
