I really wanted to love this hotel! It gets so many glowing reviews, and has such a great location. I secured a good rate compared to the many other 4 star hotels in the area that I looked at, so we were looking forward to trying it. We got the Prestige room. |The good: location, location, location. It is close to 3 metro stations, and is an easy walk to the Pont Neuf over to Notre Dame or the right Bank. The 6th is my favorite neighborhood to stay in Paris, though some find it “too touristy.” Other assets: the shower is fantastic, and the bathroom is spacious. There were lots of outlets in the room. The hotel breakfast was very good, although the coffee was from a machine and was sub par. |The less good: our main issue with this hotel was that there was no individual climate control in the rooms. Even though it was in the mid 50s outside, the room was uncomfortably warm, and we could not turn on the A/C because the hotel had switched to heat mode for the season. I found this very unusual for a 4 star hotel in the 21st century, and it really affected our visit. We got a fan which helped a little, and we opened the windows when we were in the room . But because we were on the ground floor, we couldn’t leave them open at night. In my opinion, this feature (or lack of) would reduce my grade of the hotel to a 3 star experience. |The staff was good but not memorable. Most times there was only one person at the front desk, so check in was quite slow when we arrived in the morning. |If I could, I would give this hotel 3.5 circles. |I realize that my review is different from many others, so see what you think!
