Hotel Astoria Luzern

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely incredible! The location is truly unbeatable—right in the heart of Lucerne, making it easy to explore the city on foot. The staff was unbelievably sweet and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, even helping us coordinate public transportation. The cleanliness was exceptional, and the breakfast far exceeded our expectations with a variety of delicious options. One of the highlights was the stunning rooftop bar—breathtaking views and the perfect place to unwind. A special shoutout to Tommy! He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely cared about creating a great experience for us. He went above and beyond in every way. We would definitely stay here again. After reading the good reviews of this hotel, we decided to change our Lucerne stay from another hotel to this hotel for 5 nights. The Good: The location of this hotel is within 10 minutes from Lucerne train station. A plate of welcome fruits in the room. This hotel has a few restaurants; Thai garden, La cucina, Mekong and Pacifico. The hotel room is clean and simple. The staff are friendly but somehow lack to provide more helpful information to guests, until we asked. The Bad: No bedroom slippers are provided. Only 4 clothes hangers are provided in the room with a small space for hanging clothes. Limited space to open up our luggage. We have to close up our luggage for more walking space and also easier for the housekeeper to clean up our room. After housekeeping, no replenishment of vanity set. Luckily, a new roll of toilet paper and drinking water is provided. The sound proof of the room is very bad. We can hear the sound of chairs being dragged and people making out in the next room. 😶 I understand that a Lucerne guest card will be given to overnight stay guests upon arrival. We are staying for 5 nights and it was not given to us when we arrived until I remembered and called up the receptionist to ask for it on our 3rd nights. We tried to walk in to one of their restaurants, La Cucina for early dinner but was rejected as fully booked when there are so many empty tables. Blessing in disguise, we walked in to another restaurant not under this hotel, about 10 minutes away with no reservations as well and the attending manager was nice to let us have a table for 2 hours. Verdicts: Would I come back to this hotel in the future. No. I would definitely explore other hotels. I’m visiting Lucerne for the first time, reading the hotel reviews from other people leading me to believe it is a good place to stay. The truth is the location of this hotel is not bad. It’s within a short distance from the old town, train station and bus terminal. The services of this hotel must be improved in order to attract more tourists.

Here now. Check-in efficient, room clean, bed nice and firm. "Hidden" bathroom on the other side of a frosted glass wall is intriguing but makes it impossible to turn on the light at night without illuminating the whole bedroom. Rooftop bar servers cater to the younger crowd, lesson learned. Cost 70CH for 1 pizza, a mojito and a beer. However, GREAT LOCATION makes up for other shortcomings, including lack of amenities like decent bath products (combo soap/body wash, no conditioner or lotion, ugh).

Towels feel like a white flat loofah. Ridges that are great for exfoliating, but otherwise be careful to only pat dry. See picture.||No shower door, draft on butt while showering, everything in bathroom gets wet from condensation.||"Rooftop" bar that was mostly inside, but did have nice balconies. We had a few drinks, nothing out of the ordinary, turned out to be $25 each.||The hotel is actually three different adjacent buildings, each with just one slow elevator.||Curtains dimmed but did not block light.

The hotel is conveniently located where it’s easy to get to the train station and the river. Additionally, there are plenty of restaurant options in/around the building. The rooms are clean and modern. I had a package delivered to my room and the hotel handled it flawlessly.

What an amazing hotel.. The room was spacious and the bed was so comfortable.. The shower was top class.. Overall..if you need a place to stay in lucern which is central then this place is a must.

*Astoria Hotel Lucerne Review* We had a fantastic 3-night stay at the Astoria Hotel in Lucerne. The hotel's rules were a bit strict, requiring a room key to access the floor and a deposit upon arrival. Additionally, rooms were pre-assigned, and our group of 8 wasn't able to get rooms near each other. However, the hotel staff accommodated our needs by placing the kids' rooms on the same floor and the adults' rooms on separate floors. *Highlights:* - *Great Rooms and Breakfast*: Our rooms were comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. I'd give it a 10/10! - *Dining Options*: The hotel has multiple restaurants, including Thai, Italian, Asian, Chinese, and Japanese Ramen. The Rooftop Bar offers a great selection of wine and spirits, with a fantastic view. - *Staff*: The staff were friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home. - *Hotel Layout*: The hotel has a spacious layout, with a sitting area on the 1st floor and easy access to the main desk via escalator, stairs, or elevator. *Overall Experience:* Despite some initial challenges with room assignments, we had a great time at the Astoria Hotel. The hotel's amenities and staff made our stay enjoyable, and we'd definitely consider returning. *Rating:* I'd give the Astoria Hotel 4.5/5 stars. While there were some minor issues with room assignments, the hotel's strengths outweighed its weaknesses.

Great location. Room was clean and comfortable. Overall, I would have given this a 3 or 4 rating. Unfortunately, the noise from the rooftop bar was bad and prevented a good night sleep. Therefore, it's a 2 rating. I would not eliminate the Astoria as an option in the future. However, I would definitely and seriously look at other hotels based on location, price, and reviews for a future stay in Lucerne.
