Hotel Astoria Luzern

Incredibly thankful to room service & hotel staff for finding & posting an item of great value that I had inadvertently left behind. Everything was posted intact. Thank you so much. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 2 night stay as part of tour group on 18 & 19 Dec 2025 recently. Location is very convenient & safe to venture out at night for nearby Xmas markets & Lucerne lakeside city hub precinct. There are restaurants within hotel itself & also just outside. Room in 2nd floor was comfortable, quiet with enough amenities. Bath/toilet a good size for pax 2. Cons: Very average buffet breakfast & fairly limited variety. Elevators are very limited & very slow. Have to go to another building for breakfast but within hotel complex. Inconvenient entry point - long flight of stairs to get down & escalators to go up is next door. These are small annoyances compared to convenience & comfort 🌼🌼

They fleece tourists at every chance I guess! My wife had booked a king size room (not twin), she made an error in choosing 1 adult while searching. The hotel insisted that there will be a 50 francs per day fee for the extra person. This was a king room and we had booked for 4 nights. I was okay initially since an extra person may change the price. But then I checked and it's only 5 francs a day extra when you go from 1 person to 2, on any dates! I requested to reduce the fee, and not charge 200 francs for the 4 days when it should be 20. The manager, Adam, was giving silly reasons but at the end, there isn't much I could do if they've decided to fleece you. The king room is not that small in size - but it feels very claustrophobic, super closed with no circulation. You can hear anyone talking in the rooms next to you. The breakfast was amazing, great spread - will recommend for the breakfast. Edit 1/15/2026: Replying to Management's response - There's no question that there's an additional charge for a 2nd person. The issue is how much will you charge at check-in, if it's only 5 Francs/ day extra for a 2nd person? Anyone can verify this 5 Francs/day by going online and changing the number of persons from 1 to 2 on your website. If you charge 10 times that, 50 francs/day, which you did, that is not right.

I stayed for 4 days and had an amazing corner view room with spacious windows. The room was very clean, and they provided two water bottles daily plus a nice coffee machine. The hotel has four restaurants, and the concierge can help you book dinner reservations. The gentleman at reception was especially helpful and made the check-in experience very smooth. Overall, a great stay.

While the hotel has some positives, the room design contains a major flaw that I cannot overlook. Our double room featured an "open concept" bathroom with absolutely no door separating the toilet/shower area from the sleeping area. ​For a double occupancy room, this offers zero visual or acoustic privacy. At this price point, guests expect a standard level of comfort and separation. This design choice makes the room uncomfortable to share, regardless of who you are traveling with.

This is an upscale hotel that is located in the heart of downtown Lucerne. This hotel is surrounded by mountains, close to its lake boasting crystal clear waters, the historic old town, and famous Chapel Bridge. Shopping and ding are also within walking distance as well. I was lucky enough to get a corner room that had lots of windows so I did not feel claustrophobic. The bathroom was wonderful too and the bed was comfortable to sleep in as well.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely incredible! The location is truly unbeatable—right in the heart of Lucerne, making it easy to explore the city on foot. The staff was unbelievably sweet and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, even helping us coordinate public transportation. The cleanliness was exceptional, and the breakfast far exceeded our expectations with a variety of delicious options. One of the highlights was the stunning rooftop bar—breathtaking views and the perfect place to unwind. A special shoutout to Tommy! He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely cared about creating a great experience for us. He went above and beyond in every way. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended! 🌟🇨🇭✨

Overall we had a really nice stay at Hotel Astoria in Lucerne. We did NOT hear any noise from the rooftop bar over the weekend, the room was very nice and clean, and the breakfast was delicious.||I really loved their coffee machines, and the to-go cups were a nice touch as coffee is expensive in Switzerland (5 CHF ($6.50US) for 1 shot of expresso at most places.)||Also, the room price was very reasonable by Swiss standards, and we received a nice room upgrade.||I would come back to this hotel.

Update to my review I still think design of the rooms are terrible but they worked with me finally in getting a better sized room that can actually fit my luggage .. also the front desk manager and the general manager are definitely fine gentlemen who are trying very hard to do the correct thing. Also there is a sweet girl in the front that we met the following day that’s way more personable..she’s from Albania I forgot her name. Very disappointing, here’s the breakdown why it is disappointing. 1. Rooms are claustrophobic. 2. They are passive aggressive in how they answer when you confront them with the description on the “ third party “ which in my case is delta and Amex website I.e Expedia… as if they know they’re advertising some of the room incorrectly and they are defensive about it. 3. Front didn’t work with me at first until I insisted on seeing the general manager of the hotel who was nicer but still his hands were tied! 4. Rooms are smelly and extremely basic be very careful what you chose online…. Again it seems they have two buildings so pictures are very deceiving. I never easily get tricked choosing a hotel, especially with delta and Amex but this time it’s a joke, we are 4 people in 2 rooms and we can’t find a place to put our suitcase in the “ upgraded - panoramic view “ room that is the panoramic view of 3 neighboring buildings. BEWARE
