Hotel Astoria Luzern

We are writing to express our deep disappointment with how our reservation was handled. Due to a high-risk pregnancy and our son’s severe illness with influenza B and a high fever, we were unable to travel. We provided all the necessary medical documentation, including a notarized statement, to support our request for a change of dates. Our reservation covered four nights for three rooms, which is the equivalent of a 12-night single-room booking. Despite your strict non-refundable policy, we expected at least some understanding given the exceptional circumstances. Even in our last email, we proposed a partial compensation, such as offering us at least a couple of nights in the future, yet we received no response. This clearly demonstrates a lack of humanity and professionalism, taking advantage of the situation. Even if you had not been able to rebook the rooms—which we find unlikely given that we provided three days’ notice and it was peak season with overbooking in the area—the fact remains that the rooms were not used. This undoubtedly resulted in significant cost savings for your hotel. Ultimately, this approach reflects an opportunistic attitude rather than a customer-focused service. This was the second room I booked at the same time for my family. According to hotel staff, the room's heater was not able to adjust. It was quite hot. The hotel staff told us to open the window. Same as another room, this room was without fridge. No tea and coffee bags provided. Very poor services. Definitely will not recommend this hotel. In the morning around 10am on 30th December 2024, I checked with front desk if we could extend checkout time for 1 hour， the male staff was rude and straightly said NO. He is in service industry. I do think he could refuse me politely. Now I have arrived at the Hyatt Place Zurich Airport the Circle, the lady at the front desk was very polite and extended my check out time by 2 hours that I did not ask for. How come Hotel Astoria can provide that kind ofpoor quality of services and survive, is that because they are in Lucerne???!!!!!!!

A very nice, clean hotel within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, etc. The bath towels were big, but no safety handles in the shower and I had to mop up the water from the shower. The room was small but had a refrigerator. Maybe they could remove some furniture for more room. Plenty of charging ports. Staff was very nice. There is a restaurant and outside bar with a great view in this hotel.

Room was small and lacked amenities, the shower was exceptionally small for both myself and my wife. The service was adequate, what made the stay worth it was the location and restaurants downstairs. The price was lower than most other stays in the area with that central of a location. Breakfast was not included. Would stay again if I was on a strict budget and they had a good deal.

This was a nice hotel room with a funky bathroom. Everything was clean…the sink was TINY and the shower entrance required you to turn sideways and step about 18” through the opening. They allowed us to store our luggage before check-in and after check-out at no charge. The Asian restaurant on the first floor was wonderful (although they need to add more spice!). The location is good..short walk to old town, the main train station and waterfront.

Great location in the heart of the city near the train station, but not close enough that you hear trains. Nice rooms and friendly staff. The one downside is that there is a nightclub on the roof. Which, if you plan on partying all night, is a positive but is loud for those trying to sleep.

This was a great value for the service. Excellent accommodation, and all the staff, particularly Aaron and Altina, were exceptionally friendly and helpful. When one of our activities was cancelled, they suggested another that was just as spectacular.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Was worried about street noise because I had a corner room, but it wasn’t an issue. Comfortable beds and a great strong shower which is important to me. |Great location with a quick walk to the city centre.|Only small issue was the packed breakfast room with all the tour groups. I was part of a tour group as well.
