Hotel Astoria

Lovely hotel, we had a recently refurbished lake side room which was perfect. Big bed, lovely bathroom, plenty of hanging space, clean, extra pillows provided with no problem. Reception friendly, pool area perfectly lovely, hotel looks beautiful with fresh flowers everywhere. Breakfast also spot on and service excellent. My only gripe is the note that says if you put your own things in the fridge the staff can remove them. That annoys me as I feel if we want to put water or even some wine in a fridge in a hotel room we have paid good money for we should be allowed to rather than having to pay extortionate mini bar prices.

Nice hotel with great views of Lake Maggiore. We had a lovely double room with a good sized balcony overlooking the lake. |The furniture in the room is a bit dated but I thought it added a bit of charm. |We enjoyed drinks in the garden which is beautiful and so well kept. |Breakfast was very good. |The town centre, ferry station and train station are all close by. |We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in a lake front double room (210). The room clean, bed a little firm for our taste but a good size and pillows very comfortable. Plenty of sockets in the room, lighting excellent and tv showing some UK channels. Bedside wardrobes adequate and both have full length mirrors on the doors. Mini bar and safe in wardrobes. If you wear dresses be prepared to fold the bottoms up as the hanging drop quite short. Air con good and adjustable in the room. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room but they don’t advertise having this feature. Bathroom modern with wash hand basin, toilet, bidet and large walk in shower. The shower has a rainfall head, body jets and hand held unit. No handholds in shower so if you need one you should bring your own suction one. Fixed hairdryer in bathroom but underpowered. If you have long or thick hair I suggest you bring your own.|Balcony a fair size with a small table and two chairs. Our balcony was fully in the shade from about noon onwards which suited me perfectly.|Breakfast buffet good and half board evening meal is 4 course with a limited choice for each course. |We found staff to be friendly and helpful.

Incredibly friendly staff & excellent service. A great range of food for breakfast- the fruit salad was fresh and vibrant and contained a good mixture of fruits. The best scrabbled egg !! A great variety of pastries , lovely fruit juices and breads. The hotel is immaculately clean, and very quiet at night. Excellent!! Thank you for a great stay.

really pleased with the hotel. had a room overlooking the lake, marvellous.|great breakfast, nice pool friendly staff.|Room kept very clean.|lovely warm weather, one evening thunderstorm only. Swimming in the lake warm, easy to lay on the beach, even though stony. Just take sand shows and you will be fine.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Clean, spacious and very traditional. Wonderful location overlooking lake Maggiore. Lovely swimming pool with poolside bar and jacuzzi. Staff were so helpful especially with parking the car which they took to the underground car park and the service impeccable. Could not fault the place at all.

We stayed here with friends as part of a Riviera tour. We have been so pleased with this hotel, we paid extra to upgrade to a lake front room which has a balcony with two chairs and a little table. We are so glad we did, watching the lake at different times of day has been amazing, great for a pre breakfast and pre dinner cup of tea. On that note, we brought our own travel kettle. |Our room was 204, it had everything needed including a nice modern bathroom with shower. |We used the bar pre dinner, very friendly barman, reasonably priced cocktails delivered with nibbles.|We can’t fault the food. The breakfasts have been brilliant, whoever makes the cakes and pastries are to be congratulated and the scrambled egg is the best I’ve had in a hotel. Cakes and pastries changed daily, very imaginative.|Evening meals have also been a pleasure, lovely staff, food tasty and well presented.|One of our favourite things to do after dinner was to sit outside on the sofas on the lawn looking over the lake in the evening and watch the comings and goings.|This hotel has a great location, you can walk to town and catch a ferry easily or walk the promenade in both directions.|Thank you all Astoria staff for making our stay a happy one.

We stayed at the Astoria in Stressa as part of a Riviera travel package. We payed extra to have a lake view with a balcony and this was definitely the right thing to do . If you like to have an early morning tea invest in a travel kettle . The room was clean and sufficient with a lovely shower . Now the food what can I say . It was delicious ,for dinner there was several choices and breakfast so much choice . From cakes to cheeses ,cooked eggs to breads . (We were half board ). The staff were friendly and helpful. It had a lovely swimming pool and also a gym ( didn’t use this so I don’t know how good this was . I would definitely recommend this hotel.
