I spent a week in Madeira, staying at a different hotel each night, and Atrio was by far the best one. The whole experience was exceptional. The swimming pool is amazing, the private houses are spacious, spotless, and come with their own terraces surrounded by beautiful nature. The food was excellent, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. It was my boyfriend’s birthday, and they helped us organise a surprise cake and even set up a special birthday table for us. After we checked out, they kindly stored all our luggage - including what felt like a hundred little bags - so we could go for a hike without worry. They even packed up the leftover cake and made us sandwiches for the hike. This was truly an unforgettable experience. I’m already planning to come back, and I couldn’t recommend Atrio more highly.

Had a fabulous 1 week stay here. Extremely peaceful & quiet if that is what you're after, as we were. You'd need a taxi to get down into Calheta itself, or ideally hire a car. Lodges are beautiful and the sea view is stunning. Quality of food in restaurant is top class.

Atrio is a very nice and tranquil hotel above Calheta. One of the Levada starts right on top of the hotel (at 500 steep meters!) and is less frequented than some other ones. The rooms are well appointed and the breakfast is great. The staff at the reception could be more knowledgeable about hiking but lends the Rother guide, the hiker bible so can be forgiven. Having a car is a must.|A special mention for Christina, one the servers in the restaurant: she was friendly and very helpful on hikes and very efficient in the restaurant.

Stayed 2 nights at Atrio in May. What a beautiful find - the service was great and super helpful. Loved our room and little balcony on the first floor. The food was excellent. I would love to go back with a car to explore more but it’s also do able with taxi. Thanks Atrio!

This is a gem! We absolutely loved everything: the gardens, the view, the pool, the rooms, how peaceful the place is, how lovely and helpful the staff was. Breakfast was great, with local, good quality and home made products. We are very happy to have found this place and hope to be back one day.

Good location, parking available, cozy and clean room, warmed up swimming pool and also sauna available upon request. We also had dinner there and it was very tasty.

A small family-run hotel, very pleasant.|Ideal for those looking for peace and quiet. It's located in a higher part of Calheta, so you'll need a car. |Our room was spacious, with a bathroom with a double sink and beautiful tiles around the mirror. There was a window right next to the bath. Taking a relaxing bath with a view is something...|Our room also had a small patio with sun loungers, a table and two chairs.|The place is very sunny and in the middle of nature, so don't leave the doors open too long, as friendly lagartixa make themselves at home.|Breakfast is rich and varied, with lots of homemade products. You can sit on the small patio overlooking the pool and the ocean while the morning sun warms you up. |The pool was enough and always clean.|All the staff were friendly and ready to help. We recommend this hotel!||
