We were tired and lacked the presence of mind to cancel as soon as we saw the place. The staff are pleasant but seem like college kids still learning how to run a hotel. Mature folks wanting a modern well-appointed and convenient hotel should NOT stay here. The street is for young hipsters with purple hair and vape stink. This place is in a traditional building with a long staircases and no elevators. The room looked OK on the internet but "little things mean a lot"- dismal lighting, few outlets, no lights by the bed, the TV was difficult to use, “kitchenette” was a fridge, microwave, and a toaster competing for slots in a surge protector etc etc etc. The last straw was the noise from Turbo Haus, a heavy metal bar a few doors away- we left the TV on until 3AM to drown out the racket. Free breakfast was poorly organized, with one very nice young lady completely overwhelmed with the job and having to do everything, from preparing crepes to handing out the coffee and tea. As we drove away, our last laugh was a high-school age couple who were lounging on the sidewalk who were looking for a room for a Saturday afternoon hook-up. We went out for breakfast and found a nice Hilton not far away. As we lay down in comfort that night, I laughed to remember complaints I have made over the years about “stuffy, stiff, corporate hotels.” As I headed off for dreamland, I blessed the presence of a clean, well-lighted place.
