AXA Hotel, a Design Boutique Hotel Prague, Czech Republic

"Re-opened in June 2014 after an extensive renovation, 3-star AXA Hotel was built in the early 1930s in a Functionalist style in a central Prague location 1,100 metres from Wenceslas Square. Free WiFi is available, and for surcharge, guests can use a swimming pool, sauna, fitness centre, and sun bed. The modern and bright rooms at Hotel AXA come with a flat-screen satellite TV, a seating area, and a bathroom. Bílá Labuť Tram Stop is only steps away, the Florenc Bus Station is 300 metres away, and the Palladium Shopping Centre is 400 metres away. It is 450 metres to the Masarykovo Train Station and 1 km to Prague Main Train Station. Prague Airport is 11 km away, with transfers available at an additional cost. In 2014 the building was declared a cultural monument by the Czech Ministry of Culture." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Somewhat expensive for what you get. Reasonably clean rooms but we visited in October and didn't need to cool down (there were 2 table fans in the room, apparently for summer). Staff was pretty underwhelming between just basic & somewhat rude. Like when we asked what time checkout was and the reply was "It's on the card we gave you." Or when I tried to move a bench so a group of us could sit for like 10 minutes and eat at a table in the lobby (that didn't have enough chairs) and one of the staff came running over to say the bench had to stay exactly where it was on the wall (with nobody else in the lobby at that time) -- and didn't offer any alternative so our group could all sit together. And then called a colleague to also come look at me disapprovingly after I slid the bench back against the wall. A different staff member was more helpful around tram/tourist planning, so maybe it's individual. Also the location while downtown isn't quite in the most interestting part(s), though it does have a good tram / bus stop right outside the door and down the street. Also the staff didn't mention the pool at all, guess we missed that one. Breakfast was reasonably OK. Wouldn't stay again though.

The hotel is in the heart of old town and I have walked everywhere. The rooms are spacious and clean and the breakfast is abundant and varied. Nice customer service. My only criticism is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms especially in the very hot August nights.

The hotel is conveniently situated near numerous train and bus connections, making it easy to explore nearby attractions and reach the central station. It boasts a gym and a pool, which are pleasant amenities. However, the hotel falls short of its modernity. The rooms lack air conditioning, which significantly impacted our overall experience. Additionally, the shower was very unpleasant to use. The breakfast options are diverse, but I personally didn’t find them particularly enjoyable.

Very clean and well situated hotel. Located close to all attractions and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good and had lots of options. It was easy to walk into the old town or to the Charles bridge. Lots of good restaurants and shopping within minutes of walking from the hotel.

Pool is great, but when there are more people it can be chaotic due to lanes missing. Otherwise it's nice and clean. Staff is generally nice, except a cleaning lady that once shouted at me for going in swimsuit from the shower area back into locker room area. She requested to go back naked, which is super weird and not written anywhere, probably just wanted to avoid cleaning some extra water that would be left behing. Other than that rude lady everyone is nice.

My family and I visited Prag recently and I am glad I made a good choice. Hotel AXA is centrally located just one stop from the main train station with line C. Service is great from the time you arrive at the reception to when you leave. Tasty buffet breakfast ( I loved the cake and salads) Rooms are so spacious and clean with air conditioning ( we was there in this Sommer). Highly recommended and I would advice booking direct with from the hotel website.

Unfortunately, the staff left a very negative impression. After visiting the pool connected to the hotel, my 5-year-old urgently needed to use the restroom. While looking for one on the ground floor, we were approached by an older woman in a pink t-shirt who informed us—rather coldly—that the bathrooms were only for hotel guests. Refusing a restroom to a small child shows a shocking lack of empathy and basic decency. It’s hard to understand how someone so lacking in compassion is tasked with guest interaction.

Solid hotel for a short city trip. Everything was clean and well-kept. My personal highlight was the gym with plenty of machines. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance and you can get to all tourist attractions by foot or public transport.
