Excellent choice for a budget friendly place with excellent location to stay in Oaxaca. Silvia and the staff make you feel comfortable like being welcomed as a guest into their home. The rooftop with garden is perfect for a delicious breakfast or winding down with a ice-cold drink on a evening available from the common fridge. The views of the city and sunset are great! The location is 10 min walk from the main Zocalo; it is slightly up a hill but the walk is doable. The neighbourhood felt safe and there are people around day and night. The rooms are small but have all the necessities. There is only a fan in the room and shuttered windows with nets. As the walls are solid and windows/doors wood, noise does travel easily from outside into the room, but generally the place is calm and quiet.

This is a charming family-run hotel in Oaxaca. The place is spotless, with a great rooftop for breakfast—delicious, cheap, and with free coffee in the morning! The staff were super friendly and always smiling.I know photos doesn’t look great but it’s much, much nicer in real! The only minor issue is the main door at night—it’s locked, so you’ll need to knock and might wait a bit if the staff are asleep. Other than that, it’s clean, affordable, and full of character. Highly recommend!

Silvia, Edson, Clara and Amanda made our stay a joy. Delicious breakfast choices including Mexican eggs, sitting on a beautiful plant filled rooftop terrace. Attention to detail perfect, you can feel the love they put in. Silvia speaks fluent English and sorts out all of your queries with a smile. Highly recommend 👌

We loved staying at Hotel Azucenas |for our week in Oaxaca. This small hotel is in an old hispanic building only a few minutes’ walk from the centro historico. It has a leafy central courtyard and a lovely roof terrace with lots of pot plants. The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful and Silvia speaks good English. It has the atmosphere of a family run business. We liked the simple rooms which are colourful and clean. We were in an outward facing room but a double glazed outer window kept the noise levels down. The beds are comfortable with clean cotton sheets and there is a fan. ||The kitchen area on the roof terrace was a real bonus, breakfast is optional but there is a fridge where guests can keep food to do their own thing. We liked being able to make our own hot drinks, while cold drinks are always available from a chiller at a very reasonable price. ||Oaxaca has grown massively in recent years and a huge amount of new hotels and AirB&Bs have opened up, offering varying standards and spiralling prices. If you are looking for an small, authentic, quiet and friendly place at a reasonable price, then you will love Hotel Azucenas. If you want something more fancy, with things like Air con and TVs, there are other places at much higher prices but remember that tourism is placing enormous resouce pressures on Oaxaca, especially water, so wherever you stay, be responsible in how you use it.

Now I see why there are so many great reviews. What a gem this place is! Location is excellent, staff are as sweet as could be, super comfy beds and rooms. And the breakfast upstairs is great, eggs any way you want them, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, tea and fresh squeezed oj. Such a sweet experience here!

Amazing little hotel in a perfect location in Oaxaca centro. From the moment we walked in to check in, Ariana (the owner) received us with a huge smile, super welcoming and enthusiastic. The rooms and decor all super cute. The star of the show is the roof-top terrace where we sat every evening with a beer or glass of wine and snacks while taking in the night views of the city. We also chose to have breakfast a few of the days during our stay and Clara who made our delicious "huevos" was just lovely and a mother-like figure. Amanda too (who kept the place in order) was always there to greet us with a lovely smile every day and chatted with us and asked us how our days were going. You truly feel like you are visiting family members you had not yet met before. There is a fridge in the kitchen where one can keep the goodies bought at the market (i.e. fresh Oaxaca cheese of course), also a small stocked mini-fridge with reasonable priced beer and other drinks, so it is perfect for an evening night-cap at the terrace. Everything is within walking distance, a perfect location, close to the zocalo, xochimilco, jalatlalco and reforma neighborhoods, the guelaguetza auditorium, planetarium and observatory etc (we walked everywhere), but at the same time it was on a quiet street away from the louder happenings of the city This will be our go to for any future visits to Oaxaca

Super friendly staff, great location, 5 minutes walk from the Zocalo. Some rooms are a bit on the small side but ask to see if room 10 is available and room 1 is spacious. Good wi-fi. Delightful rooftop terrace, nice kitchen area, good breakfasts and free tea and coffee. Fridge with beer and soft drinks that you can add to your room tab. Have stayed here twice now and would heartily recommend it.
