Initially undecided between a 4 and a 5 rating we opted for a "5" since we left the hotel feeling recharged and rejuvenated; exactly what we'd come looking for!||Positives: Romantic and warm --the Wenters have managed to create both a modern, natural and traditional feel to the hotel. Our room, located in the renovated area of the hotel, was clean and linear with a (relatively) unobstructed view of the beautiful mountains and woods behind it. The beds were always made up for us and the bathroom was also both modern and clean.||The newly updated wellness area is small but super relaxing and well-maintained. We really enjoyed our "Pine Bath" treatment in the old wooden tub and loved the small outdoor "sauna" cabin located next to the pool. You can use both in the wintertime and it truly gives you a sense of being immersed in nature. There was no hot tub but two indoor saunas and a small Kneipp center. The "relax" room, found in a newly built glass and wooden addition to the hotel, was just that...fresh and peaceful.||The Sarentino/Sarntal Valley is a real find. We've traveled to many beautiful areas in Alto Adige but this is perhaps the most uncontaminated one that we've yet visited. Driving only five to fifteen minutes from the hotel you will find countless beautiful hikes for all levels, a ski area (with a special slope where you can sled down the mountainside!), a skating rink, a comunal pool, tiny villages perched over small lakes, etc. The "major" town of the valley is at only 2 chilometers from the hotel and you'll find that it has most necessary services and shopping as well as a couple good local restaurants. You can easily walk there following a path running alongside the river or you can drive.||The hotel offers three possibilities for dinner: the veranda (their Bistro), the Stube (a very good multi-course meal with a reasonable price-tag) and the Alpes Restaurant (where you will eat divinely but with city price-tags; michelin rated). Breakfast (included) was also excellent with homemade breads, fine cheeses, jams, eggs made upon request...||The Wenter family was very kind and helped us to plan our three days in the valley. They even went so far as to surprise us with a birthday candle at the breakfast table (unfortunately, we came down too late and missed it... but it's the thought that counts:)).||The hotel really gives you a sense of peace and allows to to "get away from it all." It's also easy to get to from Bolzan, which is a real plus. I would strongly recommend this hotel for couples looking to escape and for families with older children (or newborns).||Minor Details: The room could use a frigobar for longer stays as well as wireless access (although I realize it's contrary to their "escape" philosophy). Also, I'm not sure if it's possible to lunch at the hotel although I would imagine that they'd be willing to something for you if necessary...||Last considerations: the hotel is a bit "hidden away", which can be seen as both a pro and a con, depending on what you're looking for.||Also, if you're traveling with toddlers (ours stayed home this trip!), don't expect to find a full-service resort hotel. The comunal spaces allotted to young children are quite limited.
