Hotel Baglio Basile

Former grand hotel in a partially dilapidated state today. Park and exterior facade mostly neglected. Insufficient quality of communication from hotel staff. For example, no information was provided in advance that swimming caps must be worn in the outdoor pool. Then the pool attendant rudely reprimands the guest in the pool with a whistle. In the dining room the staff only talk to Italian guests and exude unprofessional hostility. Buffet at breakfast unhygienic and not worthy of 4 stars. Entertainment program at the pool is way too loud.

Gaspare behind the bar was so friendly and helpful at all times. His cocktail making skills are remarkable and he always made wonderful "surprises" for us!. He took the time every day to greet and acknowledge us, we really appreciated that. His bar staff, Annmarie and others were also very friendly and professional ☺️. Thank you Gaspare for taking the time to be so warm and friendly to these 2 Irish Travellers 🙏☺️

The room was large, clean and comfortable. A little “end of season “ tired. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but a very efficient little fridge. The staff who had limited English ( and we had limited Italian )were very friendly and helpful, especially Salvatore C, who gave us an Italian lesson most evenings! The food was plentiful and well prepared. Our only real complaint was of a lack of information, no info folders in the room, the hotel was so large with many function rooms- a map would have been useful, and also local attractions. The pool was lovely and “refreshing”!!!

This is the second time we have visited this hotel as a family with young children. We have been made so welcome, with great professionalism and friendliness. All the reception staff from Giuseppe, Alessandro, Loredana, Gabi and Sonia were so helpful. The hotel is lovely and the rooms spacious, clean and elegant. ||We were on full board and the food was great despite it was the busiest week of the year. There is also lovely entertainment for the children all day with a dance show every night.

Great food, elegant rooms and facilities, helpful receptionists and a fantastic bar team professional managed by bar manager Gaspare. He has a particular good knowledge of cocktails.| He made me the best Negroni I have ever had.

It's a very nice hotel but they can do much better. I think the best times of this hotel is gone. There is animation for the kids which is positive. The swimming pool is nice but why the hell are they playing loud music or DJ. I thought it was a relaxing spa hotel. Nothing relaxed about it. Too many people, not relaxing at all during our stay. I'm glad it was only for one night. Also breakfast was terrible. A lot of people on a small place, food was less then average.

This hotel is uniquely Italian and misses the tastes of International tourists . It has the setting and facilities to be great . Our room was spacious and well fitted but the Aircon was not functioning well enough for comfort and cntoled by the front desk .. Breakfast is mostly cake and chaotic and messy . A queue for coffee took to long . The buffet dinner was like a function and lacked elegance and at times a stampede. Plastic cups in rooms instead of wine gasses are cheap and not 4 star for a hotel in a winery setting and wine region . To ask for a wine gass at the bar caused outrage and insults from a staff member .||The location for touring the region is great and the hotel could be very good if it wants international tourists . If it does not want international tourists it should say so . The pool is great.and the nearby beach nice .

There were quite a few negative reviews of the hotel so I was wary. First thing - the hotel is huge! Rooms were very comfortable, quiet and the wifi worked.||||Dinner was an excellent buffet in a huge ballroom - really good catering.||||Breakfast was odd. Lots of cakes in fact a whole table of them but no fresh prepared fruit just tinned stuff. Also there didn't appear to be a single metal spoon in the whole hotel. Staff were friendly and efficient.
