Even though this review is a bit late, our experience at Bahnhof Hotel Zermatt is still fresh in our minds! The location is unbeatable—just a few steps from the train station, which made our travels so convenient. What truly stood out was the balcony in our room (hehe..), offering stunning views of Zermatt. It was such a treat to enjoy the scenery every morning and evening. The price was also very reasonable for such an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Zermatt! If we get the chance, we’d love to stay here again!

Great location with a great view of the Matterhorn! They have a shared kitchen where you can cook and dine with other guests. They also have a pre check-in that makes everything efficient. Also a free storage of luggage downstairs with a paid option of lockers.

One of the budget options in the area. Location is very good, just next to Zermatt station, but it’s quiet at night. There is a specific check-in time, you won’t find anyone at reception before 2pm. So, if you want to store luggage before check-in time, choices are locker area in the hotel (you need to pay for locker at reception, but no one’s at reception, so you can only leave your luggage unattended) or paid-locker at the station. Another inconvenience was the mattress of our double bed. It’s slightly curved down in the middle, so we slept in an uneven surface. Pillow was also too soft for us.

Zermatt is a very expensive place, but Hotel Bahnhof makes it accessible to those who aren't super rich! It is a HOSTEL (rather than a hotel) but I found it very comfortable and one of the best hostels I have stayed in. I could see the Matterhorn from my bed! The dormitory beds are fairly private, with good shelving to arrange your things, and I had my own light. Most dormitories have a balcony. The kitchen is well equipped including kettle, microwave, hobs (although no oven) and my fellow hostel guests were able to cook up some awesome looking meals. Showers were nice and hot. The location is PERFECT- right by the train station (which is handy because all the hiking signs point to Zermatt train station so you can always find your way home! It is very quiet at night because it is away from the bars that open late. Two supermarkets and the tourist information centre are right nearby. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They have laundry facilities and hairdryers + umbrellas you can borrow. Very responsive to the questions I had prearrival which helped me to pack what I needed. Top Tip: If you have any mobility issues or difficulties with stairs, request a ground-floor room or you could be on the fourth floor, which involves some steep steps! (But the view makes it worthwhile!)

Fantastic hotel. Right next to the main station and some of the key cable cars, 2 minutes from the shops and main street. The dorm room beds are comfy and private, great views. The service sets it apart. Aggie was amazing throughout my whole stay, providing great tips for my hiking and did everything she could to make my stay in Zermatt as smooth as possible. Could not recommend enough

I really like the location! Everything is nice except no lift but understandable if you are looking for short trip.

Nice and cozy hotel, few meters from the train station, in the heart of Zermatt downtown. The rooms are a little bit small. Communal kitchen and living room.

Yelp
This place is an institution for mountaineers. It is very basic (no frills) but clean & affordable in this otherwise expensive ski resort. Literally steps away from the railway station, Gornergrat station and eBus stop; less than 10 minute walk to the Sunnegga station. Speaking of no frills - towel rental and bed liners are CHF 5, each. Communal kitchen is spotless (besides cleaning lady, courteous guests clean up behind themselves) and unbelievably well-equipped - fondue pots & lamps, raclette oven, stove top coffee makers, silverware, pots, pans, dishes, etc. Plenty of refrigerator space, washer & dryer on site and strong wifi signal were greatly appreciated. The staff really helped me out on a couple of issues - I really thank Katerina for going way beyond the call of duty on an issue (nothing to do with the hotel) that came up. For what it's worth - a couple of hints: * brochure racks in the lobbies of "luxury" hotels have 15% discount coupons for ski rentals (unfortunately the Hotel Bahnhof didn't have any of these around). * Denner discount, which is on the other side of the street, about 200 meters in the opposite direction of the Matterhorn has the lowest prices on groceries and booze.

Yelp
This is a decent hostel type hotel with various priced rooms. It is popular with climbers, there are lockers to put your items in, a kitchen and many bathrooms and showers which are shared. There are different options for sleeping. Either a private room with an ensuite, a private room and shared bathroom, a dorm room which sleeps about 20 people in bunk beds or the random attic which is literally a floor covered in mattresses don't roll over in the night as you might find yourself asleep next to a random bloke!!! Pleasant experience, flexible with dates, we booked when we arrived for a couple of night as we wanted a break from camping. Beautiful location would LOVE to go back there
