Hotel Bahnhof exceeded my expectations from the moment i stepped out of the Zermatt station - it was just across the street and so central that you were right on the shopping street and the goats passed it in the morn and afternoon on their trek to the mountains. |I stayed in the hostel portion in a women’s room with 4 sets of bunk beds and I was very happy with my bottom bunk by the window, which had the illusion of privacy and cool air from the window. The facilities are very clean and well maintained, and the kitchen fully equipped for major cooking or in my case, microwave food and kettle for tea. There seemed to be enough showers and toilets to go around and the coin operated washer/dryer was a welcome luxury that other hotels i stayed at didn’t seem to have. The desk clerks were nice and helpful. Overall, it was a great stay.

This hostel is excellently located in the town centre right next to the train station and it has beautiful views of the town below and the Matterhorn from its balconies. The dorms were clean and cosy and the beds were comfy too. Towels are provided and the showers and toilets are all clean and function well. I did not use the kitchen or living areas but they looked nice and well equipped. The reception area also had lots of handy maps for the hiking trails and leaflets for activities. I recommend this place to everyone.

The best hostel I’ve stayed at during my stay in Switzerland. Thank you so much for such a lovely place. The dorms were extremely spacious and some fairly private. Perfect location right across from the station. The Gorgergrat is right next door. Check in was perfect and staff were really friendly and helpful. Has laundry services for 2chf per cycle. Bathrooms were spacious. Can’t fault it. Highly recommended. Perfect spot’

For a first-time hostel-goer, this spot exceeded my expectations. Zermatt was my first solo, abroad trip, and I was so nervous. However, Aggie's calming presence was just what I needed when I got here. Her encouragement to explore Zermatt and experience its highlights was needed and got me out of my head and comfort zone. Hotel Bahnhof has an excellent location. I really wanted to avoid walking with my luggage through the town. With it being right across from the train station, it was so easy to arrive and depart. Additionally, it's by all the main streets with restaurants and shops. The location made it easy to venture out, and stay oriented when learning a new place. As far as amenities, I thought everything was well-kept. The kitchen is massive, and allows for a few people to cook at a time. It is well supplied with dishes and appliances, too. The beds were comfortable, and the all-female dorm was such a plus for me. I appreciated that my bed had a ledge I could use as a shelf and I could feel a little organized. The locker you receive is not large, but it is enough to store your valuables. I fit a laptop in there without a problem. I highly recommend Hotel Bahnhof & Zermatt for anyone visiting -- especially a solo female traveler!

My brother and a friend stayed at this hotel in May, 2025.|Thus was the worst hitekmive ever stated at in Switzerland. I am part Swiss and my mother was Swiss (from Aarau). I also went to echole hôtelière de lausanne . Anyway we travelled to her home town (Aarau) to scatter some of her ashes as she passed last year.|We didn’t get any sleep during the 3 nights we stayed at Aarauerhof hotel! There is a bar and a discotheque in this hotel. People were yelling, slamming doors (as they don’t close properly) and singing at 2 am. |I used the intercom system to make my complaints but they couldn’t help me. Having on one at the hotel is NOT a good system just for these types of situations.|My room wasn’t cleaned once during my stay. |My bathroom was full of black mould! |The carpets in the hotel are disgusting and are all ripped up and smelly. |The safe didnt work 😡|More pictures available|Once I returned home I wrote the hotel and asked for a partial refund due to the above mentioned issues. They initially refused! |After several emails they offered me a 5% refund. Well 2 months later they haven’t issued the refund and are no longer responding to my emails..hence this post.|Stay clear of this hotel as they don’t care once they have your money.

A mix between a hostel and a hotel! This hotel is very close to the train station, it's across the street, which made it ideal for us to walk to with our luggage! This also makes it a prime location if you're going to do the Glacier Express! We got a hotel room, instead of dorms and it came with it's own private bathroom. The room is on the small side but they also give you access to a locked locker space in the basement which is pretty sizeable. It fit our luggage and two large osprey framed bags. The "locker room" also has ski racks and placed to put your ski boots. As well as large wall length shelves. The basement also has a large common dining area, kitchen, and living room. It's very comfortable. The thing that stood out the most about this hotel is the fact that our private bathroom not only had a shower curtain, it was rough to cover the whole opening for the shower which allowed us to keep the bathroom floor dry. We were essentially back packing and Europe and we stayed in 5 hotels in 3 different countries and this is THE ONLY ONE that has a shower curtain that was able to cover the whole shower opening to keep the water in!! So nice!! Aggie (I'm sorry if I spelled your name wrong) was our receptionist and she is very friendly. We arrived early to try and get a climb in and while we couldn't check in, she did allow us the use of the storage area in the basement. She's also on call if you need anything! Over all an amazing location! Highly recommend!!

I stayed here as I was shifting from hiking hut to hut up north to around the Matterhorn, and I liked it so much that I stayed again off my trek. Large, remarkably well equipped and clean hostel, near the railway station but I never noticed noise. Spacious kitchen, I ended up cooking all my meals here because the facility was so good and I didn’t dig paying Zermatt tourist restaurant prices, save my money for beer! And I really appreciated the free storage lockers, I was able to leave extra gear to lighten my pack for the Matterhorn circuit. Lastly, if you like climbing, the nearby kletterstiegs / via ferrata are free and a lot of fun.

Yelp
This place is an institution for mountaineers. It is very basic (no frills) but clean & affordable in this otherwise expensive ski resort. Literally steps away from the railway station, Gornergrat station and eBus stop; less than 10 minute walk to the Sunnegga station. Speaking of no frills - towel rental and bed liners are CHF 5, each. Communal kitchen is spotless (besides cleaning lady, courteous guests clean up behind themselves) and unbelievably well-equipped - fondue pots & lamps, raclette oven, stove top coffee makers, silverware, pots, pans, dishes, etc. Plenty of refrigerator space, washer & dryer on site and strong wifi signal were greatly appreciated. The staff really helped me out on a couple of issues - I really thank Katerina for going way beyond the call of duty on an issue (nothing to do with the hotel) that came up. For what it's worth - a couple of hints: * brochure racks in the lobbies of "luxury" hotels have 15% discount coupons for ski rentals (unfortunately the Hotel Bahnhof didn't have any of these around). * Denner discount, which is on the other side of the street, about 200 meters in the opposite direction of the Matterhorn has the lowest prices on groceries and booze.

Yelp
This is a decent hostel type hotel with various priced rooms. It is popular with climbers, there are lockers to put your items in, a kitchen and many bathrooms and showers which are shared. There are different options for sleeping. Either a private room with an ensuite, a private room and shared bathroom, a dorm room which sleeps about 20 people in bunk beds or the random attic which is literally a floor covered in mattresses don't roll over in the night as you might find yourself asleep next to a random bloke!!! Pleasant experience, flexible with dates, we booked when we arrived for a couple of night as we wanted a break from camping. Beautiful location would LOVE to go back there
