We didn't stay in the hotel but grabbed lunch in the restaurant. There is a lot of spacious outdoor seating and it's a lovely clean setting. There are lots of options on the menu with a vegetarian burger. A great place to eat.

We didnt stay at the hotel but had a great dinner at their bar/restaurant. Absolutely top quality. Great service, cosy interior and big selection of beers.

Stopped here for a couple of nights during my hike through the gr11. The prices are very good for this town, and the staff are the most helpful, kind and considerate people! They went out of their way to help me risolve every problem I had. The manager speaks many languages which is very rare to find in this area... the rooms are simple and clean, the hotel has good vibes and very good food. Highly recommended!

Upon arrival, we were a bit skeptical of what we were getting into. The entry patio looked a little run down and the reception was dark and empty. Oh boy. We rang the bell and within minutes a lovely couple appeared to welcome us! In half English, half Spanish, we were told to bring our motorbike into the patio area (too many trucks and cars on the road). We paid cash for our room (no credit card??) and were shown to an AMAZING attic apartment.||||To be fair, I am not sure if we had reserved the apartment (I think I just reserved a double??), but the owners were so proud to show us to our room and watch our reaction as we opened the door. A huge attic apartment, small balcony, sleeping area, two couches, tv, kitchen (which had enough types of pots/pans for us to make delightful pasta dinner with vegetables), washing machine (very unexpected and very helpful!), microwave, electric orange juicer, toaster, refrigerator, nice sized bathroom with heated towel racks (handy for drying our laundry). ||||No wifi in the apartment -- had to go to the main hotel area.||||Sallent is a small mountain town with scenery. We found a small (not very well stocked, but found enough for a great dinner) grocery store and enjoyed walking around. I am sure it is much more lively during ski season.

Arrived in Sallent de Gallego while walking in the Pyrenees in late Sept 2012. Had no information on any hotels in the town but this one looked the most open (it was very low season) so we went in. It was a great surprise. Mariano (the owner, I think) was most helpful. The rooms smallish but clean, old features throughout, comfortable atmospheric lounge, good wifi, the breakfast was good quality and plentiful.||||All in all the hotel set the tone for my visit to the town which is a real find. Enjoyed it so much that I am arranging to return to ski Formigal and stay in the Balaitus this winter! Deserves more stars than it has.

Great place if you're looking to ski at nearby Formigal. There are no ski-in, ski-out hotels at Formigal (all the base-area hotels are 1km across the valley, requiring a shuttle), so we stayed at the nearby village of Sallent de Gallego, about 5km away. The village is quaint and has some decent restaurants (including one along the river - best foie gras ever!) and a few bars (though apres ski is better at Formigal - better to party there, then roll back to Sallent for dinner, sleep). Hotel is an old home, in need of some remodeling, but therein lies the charm. Rustic fireplaces, hearty breakfast with great, fresh croissants. Rooms were cozy (ie - read small), but if you're skiing all day, drinking all night, who needs a 5-star anyway? This place is fine and offers a good, fair price - enjoy!

I would have liked this place a lot more if it weren't for the noise. The bar and outdoor patio double as a local hangout where they blast music until at least 11 at night. (I was there on a weekend, so I'm not sure if that applies throughout the week.) Other guests arriving in the wee hours seemed to have no compunction about talking at the top of their voices or even yelling. (Though, Sunday night was much more peaceful than Fri or Sat). I found the hotel staff to be rather indifferent, though the woman who works at the little tourism kiosk is fabulous.||||I would skip the hotel breakfast and go to for a pastry at the excellent bakery up the street (I think it opens at 7 every day), and grab a cafe con leche somewhere else.||||On the plus side, the room was very clean; there was lots of hot water; the bed was comfortable enough, and the rate affordable.||||If I were to stay there again, I would ask for a room opposite the patio.

Very poor service, stopped by at their cafe, waited for waiter to attend, he ignored us several times. After asking politely, he turned his back on us and walked away. In the meantime served several tables that showed up after us. We decided to leave, when saying that we're disappointed with such lack of hospitality, he just said in Spanish "that's great, goodbye". We happily spent our money in another cafe closeby. Avoid this place! If management reads this, it happened 18th July 7.15 pm.
