Stayed there two times for a few nights during a business stay in Basel and can highly recommend it. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and have all the essentials, some even have small coffee machines. The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood outside the city centre, but one can easily get around Basel via nearby bus and tram stations. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable of Basel.

Our stay at Hotel Balegra was truly so lovely and memorable. After checking out, I realized I forgot my favorite pillow, which I take with me everywhere when I travel. Not only did the owner of the hotel immediately find the pillow, they sent it to me free of charge. The staff is so organized, helpful and accommodating, I was really touched by the hospitality I felt while staying there. They take care of you, and make you feel like a real member of the family. All of my questions were answered promptly, the staff was organized and clean, and again the owner was able to find and send me my favorite pillow. We had such a great time and will be back.

The description of the hotel on the homepage is exactly as it is. Small hotel, a bit dated but perfect new beds and i could sleep with open windows, very few traffic. Very nice warm welcome. Fast reaction to all questions regarding booking. Free and tasty coffee !

Not in the old town but very well communicated to easily and quickly move with public transportation including the modern tram. Good quality wi-fi. Local transportation pass.||Rooms very clean, new furniture, comfortable beds and bathroom with the quality basics including the shower.||Very nice breakfast with quality food buffet in charming dining area.||Special mention for its owner and host Beni and his wife that go out of their way to make sure that guests feel welcome and have a great experience at their hotel !

I stayed there for 15 days, for a business trip. The hotel is really nice and quiet. It's close to the tram number 8. The beds are great. The rooms are not so big but for me it was enough. Also good breakfast.|I'll probably go back there when I will have to come back in Basel.

We stayed June 13th prior to a river cruise. The total cost for one night was $ 376.00 and I don't know where the room shown in Tripadvisor is, but we certainly didn't stay there. We were to have two single beds, two women traveling together. The configuration was weird, actually two separate rooms, adjoining, one with a shower, one without. The check in was OK, the receptionist doing so allowed us to leave our luggage as we arrived early. The only thing you could say about the room is that it was clean. There were no amenities (shampoo, conditioner) and, most importantly NO AIRCONDITIONING and Basel was having very hot weather. A single window in the room allowed no air flow. Although it was a nonsmoking property, people smoked right under our window. Most European hotels include breakfast. I should have asked if it was included, so my mistake. Whopping charge for breakfast. The amount I paid was exorbitant but there was an art show going on at the time and so prices were triple what they are now. I expected more for $ 376.00. Would not recommend the property.
