Hotel B&B Stossplatz

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel, just a few steps away from the beautiful town of Appenzell. The rooms are tidy and well-kept. Breakfast is complete and varied, including local products. I stayed in a double room with private bathroom and can say it was very comfortable and convenient.

INCREDIBLE STAY! The hosts were extremely welcoming, kind and helpful. Immaculately clean and comfortable accommodation. A beautifully decorated seating area downstairs where they serve the most delicious breakfast!! In close proximity to many beautiful hikes. Many other good benefits of staying here. Cannot reccommend enough.

Hosts are warm and welcoming. The place is very clean and well decorated. We enjoyed breakfast there and you can have coffee, tea or fruits any time. Location is right next to train station and very near the quaint town. Also, a convenient place to set off to Ebenalp for hiking. Will be back. Thank you for serving us.

My sister and I stayed here for two nights and enjoyed its convenient location and quaint feeling. The room was clean and the staff was polite. Breakfast was good, but the room was stifling hot one day! Parking is simple and it is located just beside the train tracks. The train is not loud, as we slept with our window open both nights. You can walk into the town and browse around. The walk was about 7-10 minutes depending on how fast you walk.

We spent two nights in this hotel. The experience is quite nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. We spent a lot of time in the restaurant. It is cozy and comfortable. The price is reasonable. It provides basic facilities and continental breakfast. The location is excellent as it is just next to the train station. We came here for hiking at Ebenalp. There are trains that bring us there in just 10 minutes.

A simple clean room with a typical German breakfast included, bread, meat, cereal, yogurt, coffee/espresso. This is a great hotel for those traveling the area by train. It's situated across the tracks from the rail station and a few blocks from the center of town. My wife and I had an easy walk into town the first evening for dinner, Restaurant Gass 17. The second evening we ate at the hotel. After a long day of hiking it, it was nice to relax and have dinner in the hotel. I'd classify the food as "Mom's home cooking". On the functional side, the room was large (European standards), bathroom looked new and was very functional, room was quiet, WIFI worked great, not everyone spoke English (deal with it).

Good:||1. The room is basic and clean with almost everything you need.||2. Very convenient location as everyone mentioned, right next to the train station and short walk to the old town. ||3. The staff are friendly and helpful. Some of them speaks limited English but enough for basic communication.||4. A 3-course dinner only costs you CHF15.50.||||Everything is basic and fine but we wish it could improve the below:||1. No hot dishes at breakfast but I know it's a very personal preference.||2. Bathing water is not hot enough. It's especially important when it's cold outside.||3. We left on Sunday and wanted to store the luggage at the hotel after check-out. But the staff said the hotel would close by 10 am on Sunday and open for check-in from 4pm - 7pm, so we could only take back our luggage between 4pm - 7pm. It's inconvenient as we very much wanted to spend more time in Appenzell while the weather was exceptionally good. We then went to the lockers at the train station but they were too small for our bags. Luckily the staff at the train ticket office allowed us to store the luggage at their office.

Awesome clean and comfortable room. Great food in the attached Restaurant. Kind and helpful Staff. A 10 minute walk to main area of the town. Awesome views. Would stay here again and it's only a 3 minute walk from the train station.
