One of the most expensive places 1 took an overprieced beer. Very unfriendly service lady (took and moved my private items), asked to move my chair back to the place where I took it (we where 5 people) at a table of 4 and was disrespectful when serving our order. Cannot recommend place

No complain if is for a simple night stay. Be ready to climb the stairs with luggage as there is no elevator in the hotel. Sound proof was real bad as we can hear the noise from next door and down the street. Water heater not stable as the temperature can change to Super cold when In hot showers temperature. They provide simple breakfast, good enough to fill our tummy before the day. Reception Counter staff is friendly and can speak English fluently.

This pension is located right at the entrance to the old town. Our room look down over the river and the bridge. It is it in easy walking distance to everything in the old town. The room was large and clean. It had a nice deep tub and after traveling for two weeks was nice to take a soak. The staff was friendly and helpful. They did a load of laundry for us for a small extra charge. Breakfast was A typical European continental breakfast. It was good and plentiful.

I stayed 2 nights in Pension Barbakan in the middle of a trip through Central Europe. This couldn't have been a better place to relax and recharge for the 2nd half of my trip.||||Location: I saw so many people dragging their suitcases on the cobbled streets and was glad I wasn't one of them. My taxi and shuttle were able to drop me off and pick me up at the front door. There is a coop market 2 minutes walk from the pension. The pension is at the end of a bridge into town, with lovely views down to the river, which is reachable via steps near the property.||||Staff: the staff were so helpful and friendly; checking my train arrival time to coordinate a pre-arranged taxi; providing reasonably priced laundry service with clothes washed, folded and back in my room in a few hours; and offering hot tea (or coffee) when I was taking a mid-day break on their balcony overlooking the river.||||Room and pension: I was in charming Room 3, a Comfort Double with River View and a very large soaking tub, up 1 flight of stairs. It was a wonderful and quiet getaway from the day's sightseeing. The terrace was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a quiet cup of coffee or tea. The wifi worked perfectly in the room and on the terrace.||||I was delighted with the Pension, felt pampered by the staff, and appreciated the easily accessible location for my 2 day break to relax and recharge.

Good price for the location. Decent space for the double bed room with attached toilet. Only stair case up to the top floor. Check in is at hotel garni side. There is a picture outside the door of hotel. Reception is very friendly. If you are checking in late after 6pm hotel can arrange keys for you on the key lock. You have a key for the main door and a key to your room. Hot water is good flow but sometimes stopped for a while. Sound proofing is not that great, you hear noises from the street at night. there is safe box inside the room, one small TV. Bed is comfy. Pillow are on the softer side. Comforter is warm and fluffy. Breakfast was great. Overall, good for short stay.

Had a pleasant one night stay at Hotel Barbakan. The studio for 3 was spacious with nice views. Very easy to walk to the sights. The hotel provides (paid) parking which was very useful. Breakfast was not that exciting.

We arrived by bus at noon for our one night stay on Sunday, 2 Sept. 2018. Its about a 6-7 min. walk with luggage from the Cesky Krumlov, AN bus station to Penzion Barbakan located on the left side of the road just before crossing a bridge into Old Town. It was two flights of stairs (no elevator) to our Rm #4 with a nice view of the bridge, town and castle tower beyond, see photos. The simple room was quiet, with comfy bed, nice shower and bathroom, no hairdryer, small TV, small corner desk w/coffee maker. There is no A/C but it cooled down quickly at night. Breakfast: breads, meats & cheeses, apple cake, OJ, coffees & tea, toast, sausage, scrambled or hard egg, cereals, yogurt & whole fruit. We took the 2pm English walking tour of the picturesque town starting outside the Info Center in the Old Town Square. We then went to see the Seidel Museum, ate at the Nirvana Indian Restaurant and took photos at night. The Old Town Square is only a 3-4 min. walk uphill. We would recommend Penzion Barbakan, $70/night.||Did this review earn a “Thank you” vote?

Just 5 mins from the bus station, the medieval accommodation is as cosy as the little hamlet. Jakub has really helped us with all the necessary information and allowed us for an early check-in. The town center is less than 5 mins walk from the hotel. The breakfast was also good. |P.S.: If you are staying in some of the more modern properties around the town square, you will need to drag your luggage through the cobbled paths up and down the terrain, and that might not be very easy.
