We absolutely love this quaint hotel, loaded with old world charm and picturesque views over the pretty village of Meersburg. The hotel is steeped in history and the allure still remains. Michael, the Owner/Chef (pictured with us outside the hotel), is truly amazing, running the whole place, even helping us park our car, carry our luggage, answering all our questions, and being the best chef ever! His food is mouth-watering great and the very best meal we had on our entire one-month trip! Kudos to Michael and his team for making our visit to Meersburg so wonderful! We hope to be back soon! The hotel has historic charm, outside and inside. The owner is very kind and helpful. We enjoyed the furniture in room 21 very much. The beds were comfortable and the view outside the window of the other beautiful historic buildings was pleasant.

This is a very charming old building at the entrance of Meersburg’s old town. Rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and well appointed. Prviate parking is available.|When my wife and I checked in, we noticed the housekeeper had inadvertently made the bed only for one guest. When we pointed this out, the owner (also the head chef of the very popular onsite restaurant) personally intervened to resolve this and was very apologetic – a testament of how they take guest comfort and feedback very seriously. |Breakfast is a generous spread served in a breakfast room on the ground floor. Overall, a very atmospheric place to stay with warm hospitality to match.

We absolutely loved this hotel, our room was decorated in a traditional style, and overlooked the pedestrian street. We arrived by car and had pre-booked parking space, but the instructions were very clear and easy to follow, to unload, then park in the garage. We were also warned before that we could not pay by credit card, so I had enough cash to cover us.||||The owner was so very helpful, and as non german speakers (which is very embarrassing), he was happy to talk in English and offer advice on laces to visit. We admired the photos of all the family who have owned and run the hotel through the generations.||||Breakfast was included, and was plentiful, we ate dinner one night, and though the wait staff did not speak English, we managed and had a very pleasant meal. The loctation is great, just inside the pedestrian zone, at the top of the hill. So if walking down to the lake, be aware of the hill to get back up. No issues for us, but worth noting.||||The building is amazing, and so beautiful. We were very happy with our choice of family run accomadation.

We came here twice as our first visit pleased us so much. Huge portions at a fair price, friendly service, and therefore always booked solid. We loved the fish platter and liked the fact that they also offered a local fish not ususally seen (Grüttchen) (quappa? in latin): The fish was fresh, so there were different fish on offer every day, according to what was caught. Highly recommended.

This is our third trip to Meersburg, and our third time staying at this lovely hotel. It’s located right in the center of this picturesque little town with all the atmosphere you could ask for. The reservation process and communication were very easy, the particular room we asked for was fulfilled, and the breakfast was delicious! The hotel owner, Michael Gilowsky, had a very interesting conversation with us about the history of the hotel and how the look/size/location of the windows and walls came to be. He was very helpful with advice and helped us park in their garage. Definitely would recommend this pretty little hotel and hope to make another trip to Germany sometime in the future and stay there once again. Michael, you might remember us as Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Pearson from South Carolina, USA. Thanks for everything!

I have stayed at hundreds of hotels throughout the world, and there is truly something special about this place. If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend staying there. The owner is fabulous and incredibly helpful. The town is adorable, and everyone in our party wished we could’ve stayed longer.

Hotel Baeren is quite unlike anywhere we have stayed in before. The building is one of the most beautiful in Meersburg and dates from the 12th century I believe. ||||The location is excellent; it is only a two minute walk from the bus stop Meersburg Kirche. The hotel is also very walkable from the lake front and car ferry but be warned that you have to walk up a very steep hill to reach the hotel.||||There is no lift as is to be expected in such an old hotel. Our rooms were beautifully decorated with fabulous green wardrobes. The beds were comfortable, albeit the pillows were a bit soft. The bathroom was fine however the only shower gel supplied was two tiny bottles which were not replaced each day! We had to ask twice for new ones.||||The breakfast room was very tastefully decorated in the traditional German style and the lady who manages the breakfast was very nice. The food selection while good quality was slightly limited. A better selection of breads and some kind of fruit salad would make a big difference.||||Also you cannot pay by card which meant that we had to withdraw a large sum of cash.||||I highly recommend Gasthof zum Baeren if you want a historic German hotel experience.
