Normandy Barrière (Deauville, Normandy) 2 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Côte d’Azur has its devotees, to be sure, but there’s always been a contingent that prefers the coast of Normandy — what it may lack in Mediterranean balm it more than makes up for in proximity to Paris, not to mention London and Brussels. And for close to a century the smart money has been on the Normandy Barrière, a sprawling palace of a hotel, which just happens to lie a stone’s throw (or a quick dash through an underground tunnel) from the Deauville casino." - Tablet Hotels

Our stay at this hotel was truly exceptional, and we’d especially like to thank Julia at the reception for her kindness and care. From the very beginning, she made us feel genuinely welcome and helped make our stay incredibly comfortable. We booked a Family Apartment for two adults and three children. It was spacious, full of light, and ideally located near the kids’ club and the pool. Everything was spotless and super comfortable, ideal for a family stay. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a bottle of champagne and sweet treats for kids and adults, such a thoughtful gesture. We spent two weeks traveling across France, staying in different cities and many hotels, and this one exceeded all our expectations in terms of service and comfort. Truly a standout experience. The entire team at the reception, restaurant, and pool was incredibly kind and attentive. The kids’ club staff were also fantastic, keeping our children happily engaged with creative and fun activities both on the beach and in the club. Not just screen time like in many other places. In the evenings, live music in the restaurant created a romantic and relaxing atmosphere a perfect way to end each day. We’re truly grateful for this experience. A perfect family getaway we’ll never forget!

This beautiful hotel looks like something out of a fairy tale! Beautiful exterior and interior. It is located a block from the beach, and we had wonderful beach and sunset views from our room. It is adjacent to town, with restaurants and shops. We enjoyed seeing the celebrity cabanas on the beach. The room was very comfortable, spacious and nicely furnished with very comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent with a wonderful selection of. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return.

We were on a Globus tour and they had us stay here. Property is stunning with old world charm. Rooms were sumptuous and A/C worked nicely. While the bar prices are a little high they came with elegance and free nibbles. Breakfast was a cornucopia of options sure to please anyone's palate. I would highly recommend if in the area and want to relax in style.

This hotel has it all. Prime location, old world feel yet provides premium service and food. Suites are meticulously maintained with service points multiple times a day. Laundry is efficient and speedy. Staff cordial, well mannered, and extremely attentive. Staff went above and beyond our expectations we will be staying here again in the future.

One of the nicest hotels that we have ever stayed. It is beautiful and elegant. The breakfast was a buffet feast. It is just a block from the water's edge. You can take a 5-minute walk and see a beautiful sunset. Our room was very nice. Large, clean, and well furnished.

One of the best hotels for comfort, luxury, family and kids friendliness and amenities. Facing all the major superbrands, it's interior is stunning and sets you back into a different timeline. Team at the reception was very friendly and upgraded us to a suite to fit our big family. Their breakfast is versatile, however, the coffee wasn't great. They offer you a nespresso coffee as self service, or you order one with the waiters which isn't any better. The pool is stunning and kids friendly. And Matthis at the entrance was more than helpful taking us to nearby restaurants with the hotel's buggy or pool car. Thumbs up, will 100% return!

Le Normandy Barriere Hotel in Deauville, France was great. This charming, up-scale hotel was a fantasy come true. I felt like a great lady in this place. The staff were hospitable throughout. The room was comfortable, clean, and very spacious. I had an emergency situation in the night and the concierge Jerome was able to help me. He offered to interpret for us at the emergency room and even picked us up after the treatment. Since we were on a scheduled tour, the hotel picked up my medication so I could continue that day. Great place, you will truly enjoy this hotel.

Fabulous hotel, high quality fixtures, food, service, setting and ambience.||It is not the cheapest but you definitely get what you pay for, with the premium price being fully justified.||Try and book secure parking though. As the hotel parking was full we had to park on the street outside (no more than 50 yards away) and had our car broken in to. Not the hotels fault, but a disappointing and unexpected outcome from what otherwise felt like a very nice and safe area.

Yelp
Faded glory! Once a great hotel, now living off its reputation. Unfortunately, very tired with mediocre service. Good for large tour groups.

Yelp
This hotel is a fifteen minute walk from the Deauville-Trouville train station...we had to walk as no taxis or Uber's were available when we arrived. The hotel is beautiful from the outside with a nice little garden area with benches just in front of it. The lobby has nice sofas and tables and there is a bar on one side with the restaurant behind it. We were charged 30-something euros per night for buffet breakfast for me as my husband was part of a conference. I tried to opt out of it as I would have preferred to try the small cafes outside but I could not. The back entrance has some outdoor bistro tables and chairs and across the road are tennis courts. Along the back road is the convention centre, Olympic pool and Deauville beach. Right beside the hotel is the Deauville Casino and tons of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The room we had was a smaller one with king bed. A door separates the bedroom from the entrance and closet. The washroom has its own door from the entrance area and the toilet area has its own door.....allows for quiet sleep for one person as the other is getting ready. There was no iron in the room....we had to request it and the cleaning staff would try to remove it daily but I told them to leave it for our entire stay. There is a safe and coffee maker and a small closet. They replenished toiletries daily and I requested our towels to not be changed (by hanging them up) in order to be "green" but it looked like new towels daily. The disposable coffee cups and lids, and daily plastic water bottles negated any "green" initiative. I did like that common washrooms on the main level lit up with movement and were not left on at all times. There is a tiny elevator but stairs are close by. The gym is small and limited and the pool is decent (small) with loungers and sofas. The pool was not busy during our stay. The concierge was not too helpful when I asked for info on tours. They said they had none and we could hire a car for 100 euros per hour and hire a guide for 500 euros for the day The walk over to Trouville took me about an hour to get to the beach...at a strolling pace. We used our rental car to go to Juno beach. The buffet restaurant in the hotel was large, extensive and good quality. Plenty of pastries but I would have liked more fruit.

Yelp
On the first night of my stay air-conditioner was barely functioning , It was one of the hottest days. I asked to be reimbursed for sleepless night and after a few days they finally promised money return . Since we left , no return on credit card and no responding to my emails. Hotel is outdated. Dated decor, standard room did not appear to be 5 stars, but location is great. Outside is much more beautiful than inside.

Yelp
Great location on the seafront. The hotel was renovated in 2016, but it wasn't a major makeover, as the place still retains its dated décor, and the quality of facilities, amenities and service is more 5-star-minus than 5-star-plus (eg. Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-La, Four Seasons, Park Hyatt, etc). Housekeeping responds extremely politely but not so swiftly to requests to fix the aircon or to change the batteries for the TV remote control unit. This is only a 4-* because, along with its sister Hotel Barrière Le Royal, it's the best hotel in a Deauville.

Yelp
I want to personally thank the staff for going out of their way to reassure me and make me feel so comfortable. My Airbnb across the street from hotel had given me the wrong lock box code so I could not enter. It was 11:30 at night, I was frustrated, tired and just wanted to sleep. The Airbnb support told me to find the closest hotel for the night, which was this hotel. I entered reception in tears. They were so kind, gracious and reassuring. Thanks so much for making my negative experience a positive!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
No trip to Deauville is complete without a stop in this well known and chic hotel. Personally I like to have a cocktail or coupe de champagne in the bar. The service is impeccable and the little nimbles that accompany the drinks are yummy. The walls of the cosy bar are covered in paintings of polo ponies in action as well as some paintings of French celebs (see if you can spot Gainsbourg!). I could live without the new green neon lights though...

Yelp
Caviar Fouquets restaurant: good food. Expensive bill (145 for 30g caviar). Appalling service: 1 waiter and 1 maitre d' for 12 tables. Why should a 5* hotel save on staff will remain a mystery.
