Hotel Barrière Le Royal La Baule

We stayed in a third floor room with a sea view. ||Not the largest of spaces, but everything worked well (telly temperamental) had a large comfy bed and a decent bathroom. Quiet efficient aircon and brilliant sound proofing meant you weren’t disturbed by others. ||The staff are very personable and really well trained. Everyone was genuinely pleasant, efficient and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. ||Breakfast, dinner and bar food were all enjoyable. The wine list is really comprehensive and has something for everyone tbf. ||Bloody Mary’s were universally poor, Heinz Worcestershire Sauce borders on disgusting and someone needs to be purchasing a case or two of Lea & Perrins!!

Hotel Barrière Le Royal La Baule was pure elegance wrapped in comfort. As a solo traveler, I felt completely cared for welcomed with warmth, not formality. The sea views from my room were breathtaking, and the spa? Heavenly. Every detail, from breakfast to turndown service, felt thoughtful. It’s the kind of place where time slows down and you truly relax. Whether you're solo, a couple seeking romance, or a family wanting luxury with ease, this hotel knows how to make every guest feel like royalty. Absolutely unforgettable stay.

I found this hotel online and didn't know what to expect. Turns out this place is a gem. La Baul is where French people go for beach holidays and it has a massive beach with lots of restaurants where you can have outdoor lunch and dinner. There's also wind surfing and sailing and a couple of excursions (medieval city, daily market and marshes) but otherwise not much to do. The hotel itself is perfection. Lovely staff, nicely redone rooms but still permeated by old-fashioned European formality. Breakfast, of course, is wonderful. We got hold of the concierge and they booked a cab from the airport and also restaurant bookings.||There are two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) with plenty of chairs and quiet places to read. Also a garden where you can have meals or sit and a terrace and lobby where a pianist plays at night. Adjoined to the hotel is the Thalasso annex and gym where they have exercise classes (in the water and in the gym) and spa treatments etc. Before I arrived it, took me a long time to get someone to answer the phone or email so I was not sure what was on offer but there is a website with a schedule of classes (aqua bike, aqua boxing, aqua fitness, aqua pilates and in the gym you can take Swedish ball, stretching and all the machines etc). Once we got here we were delighted by the classes--several a day in the pool, each lasting for thirty minutes. I guess I wasn't good at navigating the website but they offer packages for people who want to come and have loads of classes and spa treatments. We just relaxed, swam and hung out on the beach with the grandkids. There is a carousel and cafe right outside the hotel gates. Some clothing shops and art galleries and a drug store and beach stores are right next to the hotel. Otherwise it is a 15 minute walk into town. No need to rent a car.

La Barriere Royal La Baule is an absolutely wonderful hotel. The room, the lobby, the pool, the breakfast - everything was great. The staff was very helpful. Great location next to the beach and a short walk to shops and restaurants. We will definitely come back.

We have stayed there many times now and always love it. It is a very family friendly 5-star hotel. The location, the scenery, the gardens... are all so grand. You are on the beach with an amazing view. The staff is exceptional. The food is scrumptious. I ate a lot during my stay and still lost a few pounds thanks to the amazing seafood and the sea baths several times a day.

What a wonderful hotel, classy but not pretentious. The staff were attentive, friendly and a delight. The Concierge team especially Youri were so helpful to us and even sent us off on our journey home with cartons of water and the local speciality caramels. The rooms are comfortable with luxury linens, the food is amazing and the bar was a lovely area to relax in. A beautiful hotel, it did not disappoint. We shall return.

Oh I love this hotel! It is so pretty with a lovely spa and a beautiful seaside view of the Atlantic ocean and a large expansive beach! The staff are very accommodating and the breakfast that was included in our room rate was just delicious! A wonderful hotel to stay at when you are lucky enough to visit the town of La Baule and Brittany a beautiful part of France just three hours west of Paris on their lovely trains., please don’t miss this part of France!

Lovely hotel, in a great position. Recently renovated with excellent contemporary styled bedrooms. We enjoyed a great 2 night stay here, eating once in the restaurant - great menu, good food, great service.||We loved the indoor and outdoor pools, free to residents, but car parking a bit steep at 33 euros per day.||We would stay there again if we return to La Baule.

Amazing and awesome! We stayed at Le Royal for two weeks with the whole family and had an incredible experience on all levels! We have stayed at all sorts of high end hotels over the years and Le Royal now ranks in our top 3. First and foremost, the service is stellar! The staff is very good and they anticipate all your needs. They are very proactive and will go beyond the call of duty to help on any topic. Second, the hotel and its grounds are gorgeous. Classic historical premises, incredible location by the beach front, expansive and flowery beautiful grounds... Last but not least, the food is succulent. They have two restaurants- Le Fouquet's and Le Ponton, which is on the beach. The breakfast buffet is one of the very best we have seen in terms of variety and quality. We will be back!
