L'Hermitage Barrière (La Baule, Brittany) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Fashions may come and go, but despite the marks left by the passage of time, the charm of this 1920s luxurious hotel remains intact. Its stands amid the pine trees, its Anglo - Norman façade facing the beach. Vast, classic rooms, as well as a pool and hammam." - Tablet Hotels

As a destination wedding photographer, I love travelling to capture weddings in some of the most beautiful locations, and the Hermitage Hotel in La Baule is truly one of the best. Situated right on the seafront, it combines wonderful French elegance with a relaxed coastal atmosphere. It truly was a delight to photograph at this amazing venue. The Hermitage is especially suited to couples dreaming of a chic seaside celebration. The hotel also offers bright, luxury but comfortable rooms for getting ready in the morning, which is always a huge plus for photography. Natural light pours in, giving those moments a calm yet exciting atmosphere before the big day begins. One of the highlights has to be the setting itself: the combination of the beach, the historic architecture of the hotel, and the beautifully kept grounds makes it a photographer’s paradise. Every corner offers something special for portraits and candid moments alike. The reception spaces are just as impressive. Whether you’re dining in one of the elegant ballrooms or hosting cocktails with sea views, the hotel has a wonderfully sophisticated yet welcoming feel. The events team at the Hermitage are also fantastic. They really go above and beyond to make sure the day flows seamlessly, which makes such a difference both for couples and for the professionals working alongside them. If you are looking for one of the most stunning wedding venues in France, right by the sea, you really should take a look at the Hermitage Hotel in La Baule.

Poor service and value compared to other barrier hotels couldn’t get into room until 4.15! Bags arrived past 4.30 |Dirty pool area with outside people using pool and leaving nappies and rubbish |No free car charging even though paying for parking only need a quick charge |Bathrooms flood when you have a shower over bath as small screen and as shower is over a very narrow bath and it’s dangerous as sides are curved and you slip as you need to get close to the fixed shower head||On checkout no one asked if we had a good stay just young staff who were not interested

Oh I can’t say enough of this great hotel located in the beautiful town of La Baule on the Brittaney coast. If you are lucky enough to stay here even for a night or two it will be an experience that you won’t forget.. the beautiful guest rooms and the impeccable service from all the staff is just so great., this hotel closes in the winter so you can stay here in the spring summer or fall.. we had a delicious breakfast each morning a lavish buffet and the beautiful beach was just across the street. Each night we opened our large floor to ceiling windows to fresh ocean air., and our large modern bathroom was fit for a queen! Or just pretending to be one., it was a totally relaxing stay and I will definitely be back! Bravo Hotel Hermitage!!

L'Hermitage really exceeded expectations, it is quite glamorous, the welcome was top class and the service throughout was exactly what you expect from a 5 star resort hotel. We loved the beach club, even though as a hotel resident you have to pay for sun loungers, it keeps the beach quiet (and almost child-free!) so you can enjoy reading, sunbathing and sleeping. The Head Concierge was top class, great recommendations and absolutely on it for any request. We had not been to La Baule before, so as uninitiated Brits it was a real delight. The bay and its beach have a real charm, the sea is relatively warm for an Atlantic coast resort, and the constant sports and activities on the beach gave it a good vibe. 2 things about the hotel were that the beach restaurant menu felt a little too formal, we thought there should be more casual dining options during the day. Also our prestige "sea view" room did have a sea view in fairness, but it was on the side of the hotel so we felt a little let down as we had expected it to be a full sea view room on the front of the hotel, suggest you double check whe you book, which we didn't. Staff throughout were plentiful, very attentive and clearly very well trained, which was a real pleasure. We would definitely recommend the hotel and the resort, and would certainly go back.

Yelp
I visited this hotel in 2015 for a work conference. Driving up to this hotel is very impressive. It has a presence unlike any other hotel I've seen. It is the epitome of an elegant beachside hotel. There are fresh flowers everywhere, beautiful marble surfaces and antique furniture. Outside there was a luxurious pool which really made you realize you were in the lap of luxury much like in the French Riviera. The breakfast offering was exquisite & bountiful. The bars offer all types of fine liquors. We had lunch here as well and it was all excellent. We used the conference rooms for out meetings. They were sufficient for our needs. As for the rooms. It was quite grand. I love how the TV displayed a greeting.." Welcome Cecilia P..."it was a nice touch. I did not like how the toilet is in a separate room a little too far from the main bathroom which offers a shower & tub but I realize this is typical of European bathrooms. I took a wonderful hot bath in this elegant bathroom because it was so inviting. The room was tastefully decorated but I found that the French don't use air conditioning so it was a little too warm for my entire party staying at this hotel although it didn't bother me. I would love to go back if I'm ever in this region of France again.
