L'Hermitage Barrière (La Baule, Brittany) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Fashions may come and go, but despite the marks left by the passage of time, the charm of this 1920s luxurious hotel remains intact. Its stands amid the pine trees, its Anglo - Norman façade facing the beach. Vast, classic rooms, as well as a pool and hammam." - Tablet Hotels

Oh I can’t say enough of this great hotel located in the beautiful town of La Baule on the Brittaney coast. If you are lucky enough to stay here even for a night or two it will be an experience that you won’t forget.. the beautiful guest rooms and the impeccable service from all the staff is just so great., this hotel closes in the winter so you can stay here in the spring summer or fall.. we had a delicious breakfast each morning a lavish buffet and the beautiful beach was just across the street. Each night we opened our large floor to ceiling windows to fresh ocean air., and our large modern bathroom was fit for a queen! Or just pretending to be one., it was a totally relaxing stay and I will definitely be back! Bravo Hotel Hermitage!!

Came for a relaxing two day stay. After 7 hour drive to the hotel we sat relaxed with a glass of rose and a bottle of local beer and bottle still water. We then decided to organise dinner at one of the two restaurants at the hotel. We then discovered the main restaurant was closed and their seafood restaurant was full. Our only option was room service or find somewhere else. Sunday France everywhere was closed. We were super super disappointed- this was not a good start. We were not the only ones - bar staff couldn’t really care and just said we could have sliced meat and cheese if we wanted. The other staff were having a tough time trying to sort out a family who were in the same situation. Im sorry but if you have guests expected and you have at least one open restaurant you reserve a table for your guests! We sat in our room duly ordered pizzas. The cheapest item on the menu because everything else was 5* restaurant prices which we were not prepared to pay to sit in our room to eat. They were disgusting clearly shop bought with extra toppings. We couldn’t even have a cup of tea. We looked at the breakfast 30euros each for continental or American style breakfast at that point we realised this hotel is a rip off and we would not be staying any longer and made alternative plans. When we came to check out the next morning they did not care. The only saving grace after much discussion baring in mind the following costs; our drinks were 32euros one glass rose and one bottle beer & bottle still water, pizza 50euros and 33 euros a day to park your car - our car was parked outside the hotel entrance- they also did not like it because we used booking.com and not booked direct - we had to accept that we had to loose the room money - they agreed to not charge for our food and drinks - we were so so disappointed and had very much looked forward to our stay - this hotel needs to stop trying to be like the shard or a hotel in Monaco and focus on what it should and can be. Clearly some guests dont care how much things costs like 33 euros a day to park your car- we are more than happy to spend if it is justified but this hotel is not. This was part of a 13 day holiday where we stayed in 6 hotels and this was by far the worst and yet promised to be the best - such a shame. Oh the chaps who park your car and take tour bags? 5* super lovely super professional couldn’t be nicer thank you.

From arrival to departure, everything was perfect! The whole team made us feel at home.. even better than home 😉.||They would anticipate our needs always with a bright smile and friendly, but professional words.||The hotel is just beautiful and the view from the room is unbeatable! The location is spot on. You have the ocean at your feet, and can enjoy the busy and charming life of La Baule in a few minutes walk or take a ride on the hotel bicycles to discover all the beautiful houses around.||For the golfers, the La Baule Club is close by and offers fantastic courses. And not to forget about the tennis courts just a few minutes away at the over 100 years old Club.||We enjoyed every minute of our stay. The only “downside” is that we could not stay longer!! We will definitely be back..

We’re just coming back of the most beautiful and dreamy stay at L’Hermitage. ||I didn’t get a chance to stay there since they last refurbished it. From arrival to departure it is exquisite, authentic and so welcoming. ||||The team was truly wonderful and made us feel very welcome. The room was bright and spacious with the most wonderful view on the beach and pool. ||The pool is perfectly sized for the hotel and has this kind of old luxury French vibe to it that makes it very refined. ||||The surroundings of the hotel is absolutely stunning. We took the opportunity of a gorgeous sunset night to drive along la grande cote du Pouliguen: dreamy. By day don’t miss walking and driving around those gorgeous villas Bauloises. ||||The valet parking was the best. Entering this hotel always feels very special but departing was as exclusive with the valet cleaning the windows of the car before we left to the airport. Such a nice and genuine touch. ||||I definitely look forward to come back soo!

L'Hermitage really exceeded expectations, it is quite glamorous, the welcome was top class and the service throughout was exactly what you expect from a 5 star resort hotel. We loved the beach club, even though as a hotel resident you have to pay for sun loungers, it keeps the beach quiet (and almost child-free!) so you can enjoy reading, sunbathing and sleeping. The Head Concierge was top class, great recommendations and absolutely on it for any request. We had not been to La Baule before, so as uninitiated Brits it was a real delight. The bay and its beach have a real charm, the sea is relatively warm for an Atlantic coast resort, and the constant sports and activities on the beach gave it a good vibe. 2 things about the hotel were that the beach restaurant menu felt a little too formal, we thought there should be more casual dining options during the day. Also our prestige "sea view" room did have a sea view in fairness, but it was on the side of the hotel so we felt a little let down as we had expected it to be a full sea view room on the front of the hotel, suggest you double check whe you book, which we didn't. Staff throughout were plentiful, very attentive and clearly very well trained, which was a real pleasure. We would definitely recommend the hotel and the resort, and would certainly go back.

Yelp
I visited this hotel in 2015 for a work conference. Driving up to this hotel is very impressive. It has a presence unlike any other hotel I've seen. It is the epitome of an elegant beachside hotel. There are fresh flowers everywhere, beautiful marble surfaces and antique furniture. Outside there was a luxurious pool which really made you realize you were in the lap of luxury much like in the French Riviera. The breakfast offering was exquisite & bountiful. The bars offer all types of fine liquors. We had lunch here as well and it was all excellent. We used the conference rooms for out meetings. They were sufficient for our needs. As for the rooms. It was quite grand. I love how the TV displayed a greeting.." Welcome Cecilia P..."it was a nice touch. I did not like how the toilet is in a separate room a little too far from the main bathroom which offers a shower & tub but I realize this is typical of European bathrooms. I took a wonderful hot bath in this elegant bathroom because it was so inviting. The room was tastefully decorated but I found that the French don't use air conditioning so it was a little too warm for my entire party staying at this hotel although it didn't bother me. I would love to go back if I'm ever in this region of France again.
