Bastion Heritage Hotel (Zadar, Croatia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Zadar’s location on Croatia’s sparkling Dalmatian Coast could be reason alone to visit, but this ancient settlement is also teeming with more than 3,000 years of history. In the center of it all, Hotel Bastion bridges old and new. This boutique hotel is built within the remains of the ancient city walls, yet inside, it’s the very definition of contemporary European elegance. The rooms and suites are defined by a soothing color palette of soft gray and cool white, while handmade furnishings, teak floors, and modern comforts complete the picture. Dine in house at Kaštel, where Mediterranean and local cuisine takes center stage and the best tables are on the terrace." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel Bastion was definitely a mixed bag. The hotel itself is beautiful and conveniently located just inside the city walls and near the harbor. The rooms were clean and the staff was polite. Marina, one of the people who staff the front desk, was incredible. We wanted to book a private boat tour, and she was able to do that for us the night before. She also helped us locate several services in town that we needed.||The lowlights were breakfast (at one point, there were no plates at the buffet, no and glasses, and they had run out of fruit and certain breads. The orange juice, apple juice and coffee varied from poor to undrinkable in the case of the coffee (contained grounds, was lukewarm, etc.). Orders from the kitchen took 40 minutes or more. The dining room was full of people at a buffet who could not eat because the food and the dishes were scarce. This happened on both mornings we were there.||Finally, we asked for late check-out in order to do laundry, and they flatly said no. We had to go out and do our own laundry and check out at 11:00, despite the guest book in the room saying they offered laundry service and checkout was at 12:00. We also were running late because of the breakfast issues, and ultimately left breakfast without getting our hot food orders.||Again, the rooms and location (and Marina!) were excellent. Otherwise, they were seemingly understaffed and/or unwilling/unable to help with some essential services.

This is a great hotel for visiting Zadar. The team, especially Ivan at the front desk, Helena the masseuse, and the lovely dining staff, were top notch outstanding. The food was very, very good, albeit pretty pricey. Our room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The view was very nice. The location is perfect. Walking distance to everything in Old Town. The only downside is that it’s a little hard to find if you’re driving and have to park. I can’t recommend highly enough. Excellent Hotel.

Wonderful boutique hotel in a prime location. The staff were absolutely great, especially the front of house team. They were happy to valet our car, making parking a breeze. Getting in and out of the center of the city was surprisingly easy. Breakfast is both a buffet and a la carte. The room (we had the 002 suite) was cute and clean. I would happily stay here again. There’s a few waterfront bars nearby but despite this it was still quiet and dark in the room. Really great four star hotel.

I cannot say enough good about the staff, the front desk, the bar, the restaurant. Everyone is so helpful and friendly and there to make your stay wonderful. Great night's sleep. The room and the location cannot be beat. This is the place you need to stay.

This hotel is luxury at its finest. The rooms are luxurious, the service amazing, breakfast daily fresh, cocktail bar loved it daily, location is the best. We don’t want to leave. I’d rate this over 5 stars. One of our favorites. The restaurant are close, morning walks so quite.

The Bastion Hotel is in the old city of Zadar, near its Western end, (and therefore near to the Forum, the Sea Organ, Greeting to the Sun, etc), It’s a relatively small hotel, because no big ones have been permitted in the old city, but it has a spa (not used by us), a very good restaurant with views over the water, and a bar which also serves coffee. Perhaps because of the restaurant, the breakfast was of a particularly high standard, with a wider than usual set of freshly cooked options which clearly were fresh and beautifully presented.|Our room was a very good size, with adequate storage and in very good condition. The bathroom had a toilet, sink, walk-in shower and a lot of storage space and was in really excellent condition; it looked as though it might have been recently refurbished.|The staff were very helpful, professional and knowledgeable. Our interactions with them gave us the feel of a 5* hotel rather than a 4* one which technically we believe this is. Thoroughly recommended.

The Bastion Hotel is conveniently located in the old town, not far away from the forum and just a few minutes’ walk from the main points of interest. The staff offers a warm welcome and is very helpful—service is one of this establishment’s strong points. We stayed in the “Design” suite. This room was relatively small for a suite but well designed, with a sitting area and a good-sized bathroom. The fact that the suite still feels cramped suggests that the regular rooms might be very small. Light sleepers will find the room noisy—there is a club directly opposite that can be loud. In my opinion, while this hotel is pleasant, it does not have the standing of a “Relais & Châteaux” property: there is no turndown service, and the food is very average. The rather poor breakfast discouraged us from trying the restaurant for dinner. That said, it’s still a hotel that offers good value for money, friendly service, and a very convenient location. However, it is not a luxury hotel.

Hotel Bastion is a beautiful boutique hotel with stunning decor and impeccable top-tier service. We genuinely felt welcomed from arrival until our departure. Honorable mention to the Front Desk Manager at Check-in and Check-out for anticipating our needs without being asked! Our room for one night was stylish and comfortable with luxurious amenities and a beautiful view of the water. During our holiday, we were steps away from all the Old Town sights. Before retiring for the evening, we enjoyed a perfect nightcap and chat by our talented and knowledgeable server in the swanky hotel bar. Breakfast included not only a wonderful buffet, but also delicious made to order items and delightful service. Thank you for your flawless attention to detail throughout our visit.
