Hotel Bastion was definitely a mixed bag. The hotel itself is beautiful and conveniently located just inside the city walls and near the harbor. The rooms were clean and the staff was polite. Marina, one of the people who staff the front desk, was incredible. We wanted to book a private boat tour, and she was able to do that for us the night before. She also helped us locate several services in town that we needed.||The lowlights were breakfast (at one point, there were no plates at the buffet, no and glasses, and they had run out of fruit and certain breads. The orange juice, apple juice and coffee varied from poor to undrinkable in the case of the coffee (contained grounds, was lukewarm, etc.). Orders from the kitchen took 40 minutes or more. The dining room was full of people at a buffet who could not eat because the food and the dishes were scarce. This happened on both mornings we were there.||Finally, we asked for late check-out in order to do laundry, and they flatly said no. We had to go out and do our own laundry and check out at 11:00, despite the guest book in the room saying they offered laundry service and checkout was at 12:00. We also were running late because of the breakfast issues, and ultimately left breakfast without getting our hot food orders.||Again, the rooms and location (and Marina!) were excellent. Otherwise, they were seemingly understaffed and/or unwilling/unable to help with some essential services.
