We went to Hotel BaXar after visiting some family in Acapulco and mind you this is shortly after hurricane Otis. They have just reopened and everything has been absolutely outstanding. While other hotels have been struggling to get back up, BaXar back at 100%. They greeted us with cocktails and food while we waited on our room as we arrived early. Service wise, it has been top notch and we have the same servers everyday so they understand our preferences and never skip a beat. Not a single issue with service. Food is absolutely amazing, easily some of the best Acapulco has to offer. Generous portions and very affordable. Can't say enough about the food here. Cocktails are great too. The rooms can't be beat, very spacious and clean. They have ac and no road noise, just the soothing sound of the ocean waves. The view, is gorgeous and you'll find yourself sipping on coffee just admiring the beach for hours, total relaxation. The pool is clean and they do their best to keep all areas tidy and ready for use. They have music playing throughout the day, not too early and not too late. Highly recommend

Pros: - The hotel is located in a beautiful area of Acapulco, with amazing sunsets to enjoy. - The food is very good and reasonably priced. - The service is generally good, and Esmeralda deserves special recognition. - The pool is quite nice and a with a good temperature, clean - The facilities are pretty and downstairs close to the beach you have some nice chairs and "hamacas" / swinging beds that are pretty nice to chill in Cons: - The hotel is located on a beach with high waves and dangerous open ocean, which is not recommended for swimming. This should be clearly communicated to guests before their arrival, it should be clear on the hotel description. - The room we stayed in was very hot, with poor ventilation and only a fan, making it difficult to sleep at night, which is not good at all if you want to enjoy your holidays. It would be better if the hotel provided air conditioning in all rooms. - The hotel does not allow guests to bring outside food or beverages to their rooms, but also does not provide snacks for purchase within the hotel. This is inconvenient for guests who want to enjoy a snack while relaxing in their room / facilities. - The included breakfast is a "Continental" type , and it was sometimes inadequate, with one day having no bread available at all and we only received coffee and juice, if you don't have bread at least offer something else instead. The hotel should improve the breakfast offering to ensure that it meets guests' expectations. Overall, with some improvements, this hotel has the potential to be excellent. However, guests should be aware of the beach conditions and room amenities before booking, and the hotel should address the issues with breakfast and snacks.

I have come to Baxar 2 times now and have enjoyed my stay both times. It's a nice little hotel for peace and quiet in Pie de la Cuesta. The rooms do not have air conditioning, but they do provide fans. The decor is nothing special and the beds are decent, but not so comfortable. The pool is small, just good enough to take a quick dip and refresh from the hot sun. There is a restaurant attached that services a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. The food was very good and priced well. I would recommend mainly to couples or solo travelers looking for a nice, quiet getaway.

From the begining the experience was terrible. Even before starting our vacations, we noticed that this wasnt a good hotel to stay in. ||||1. 1 day before arriving they changed the room we reserved one month in advanced, and changed us to a lower quality bedroom. The manager never apoligized for this.||2. Once we arrived, we learned that the change of rooms was due to the owner wanting some of his friends to have a beter room (the one that we reserved). Again, no apololgies.||3. The pool water is salted water, the experience is terrible.||4. The bathroom water is also salt water so you cannot even shower without that awfull salty sea sensation let alone, brush you teeths (disgusting).||5. The hotel need an urgen renovation everything is super old.||6. The owner is tacky, rude and cheap... they denied us a bucket of ice because they were afraid we would use it to cool our own beer of sodas... like for real, they were cheap about ICEEE!!||||||I dont think i can sum up how terrible of an experience this was... all I can say is save yourselves from this. Its not worth it and there are so much better places out there.

We had stayed in the past in this hotel. The owner is a nice guy and also pet friendly person. We invited an American friend of us for dinner and he brought his well-behaved old dog who we love so much. We were sited at the terrace and to our surprise the manager rudely kicked us out of the restaurant! We would never be back at this place. Instead we went to another place, Vayma, to our delight they let us have dinner in company of my friend's doggy and they have excellent food, friendly service and nice approach!

I booked Hotel baXar with high hopes of enjoying a bit of luxury. I was sadly very disappointed to find that the hotel is a far cry from their 4* star rating. It makes me wonder who determines these ratings and why there isn’t a hotel organization out there to check out if this rating is still valid?? ||||We arrived early which the hotel manager, Christopher, graciously permitted. We checked in around 12 noon. We were shown to our room which was right by the street with a view to their construction from our window. I told them this wasn’t okay for us, as we had booked well in advance. The assistant manager kindly showed us another room which was poolside and steps from the restaurant which was nice. When we checked the safe, it was broken and not usable. We were offered to put our valuables in the hotel’s safe or to upgrade to a nicer room on the 2nd floor, but told that we’d have to pay more. I was surprised to hear this considering that it’s low season here and any real 4* hotel would be more generous in offering a free upgrade especially since our room had a broken safe. What happened to the excellent service that is afforded by most 4 and 5* star hotels? Perhaps if we had been offered a free upgrade I would not be writing this review?||||The bed is nice and I like the architecture at baXar, but unfortunately everything else is quite dated and in much need of maintenance and renovation. They are in the middle of renovations as I write this review, so there’s lots of hammering going on. The pool has mold/mildew in between the cracks of the tiles which indicates that either the hotel seldom cleans the pool or whoever maintains it doesn’t know the right ph balance. Normally if a pool is chlorinated properly there would never be any mold/mildew on the pool tiles. The bathroom mirror is oxidized and very old. ||||The food is okay and in my opinion over priced. Three chicken tacos cost 118 pesos. Normally tacos are around 50 or 60 pesos in most restaurants. A soft drink is $2. Now if this was truly at the standard of a 4* resort, of course I wouldn’t mind paying these prices, but baXar falls well short of being 4 stars. ||||I can imagine that 10 years ago this resort must have been lovely. The photos on their website don’t accurately represent the reality of this resort today. Sorry folks, but if you’re seeking a 4* hotel this isn’t going to meet your expectations. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend staying at baXar.

Hotel BaXar is located by what appears to be an unkept neighborhood. However, once inside the Hotel, you will find a lovely beach and good accommodations. Service is friendly and the food was delicious. We booked the Master Suite which comes with AC. However, when we arrived the AC was not working due to a power shortage. They apologized for the inconvenience and provided us with a fan. However, and due to them knowing that this could happen given the area where the hotel is located, they should have a power backup as it is very hot during the summer. As such, caution with staying at this place without AC during the summer season. Nights are hot and humid and given the lack of AC our stay was not as pleasant as we would have liked it to be. Regardless, recommend this place for people wanting to stay in a friendly and more genuine place far enough from civilization.
