I would go back in a heartbeat!|The beach was perfect and the water was unbelievably warm and swimable, even for small children. The grounds and pool were well-kept and cleaned regularly. The shows were well done and unique (water ballet, magic show, etc.). The AC in the rooms was consistent and kept us nice and cool and I appreciated the mini fridge in the room. Beds were comfortable. They supplied us with a good amount of bottled water in the room. Service was good, but almost no fluent English-speaking workers (this is different from the last 2 times I went to Cuba - 2014 and 2019). There were always shaded lounge chairs available at the beach and it was never crowded. Food is simple and whatever is in season at the time -- I didn't know you could prepare pumpkin that many ways (ha ha). It was very, very peaceful. ||It still was Cuba, though, so be prepared to manage your expectations. My first impression was "YIKES!" when we got there. There were 7 short power outages on the first day and the room was rustic at best -- dirty grout, dirty shower curtain, broken safe, broken bedside table, etc. Extra pillow in the closet was sour and moldy. Food was a bit of a situation since they almost always ran out of afternoon snacks (leftover sandwiches and pancakes). They ran out of Cola one day. No tea. My son found barbeque bristles in his pasta-- thankfully, he picked them out of his mouth and didn't swallow them. All of the other Canadian travelers we met had the same digestive issues as my family of 4 -- 2 days of frequent visits to the washroom. The positives definitely outweighed the negatives, though. We had a great vacation!!
