Hotel Beacon

We enjoyed a truly wonderful stay at the Beacon! Our room was clean, well maintained, and met our needs perfectly. Check-in was a breeze and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in the upper west side, making it easy to visit Central Park and a number of fine museums, including the Guggenheim and the American Museum of Natural History. We found numerous lovely restaurants, coffeehouses, and bakeries in the area. Overall, we had a fabulous experience.

My partner and I stayed here at the end of 2025 for a few days. The rooms were clean and the location was great. There was a great supermarket right across the street so we could get food to make ourselves breakfast in the morning. My problem was with housekeeping. They didn’t respect the “do not disturb” sign. I don’t usually get housekeeping if I’m only somewhere for a few days as I like my things arranged in a certain way and don’t want them moved about. We left the “do not disturb” sign on the door all the time. Morning 1 I had a pre printed letter put under the door saying if I wanted housekeeping to let them know. This is pretty standard in most hotels and then they leave you alone. Morning 2 The phone in the room rang, it was housekeeping asking me if I wanted my room cleaned. I told them no, that everything was fine and I wouldn’t need housekeeping. Morning 3 I went to reception before we left for the day and told them the room was fine and we didn’t need housekeeping. The receptionist said no problem and told me she’d let them know. We came back later and the do not disturb sign was off the door. Housekeeping went in anyway and cleaned the room. I don’t know if it was nosiness or a security thing but I’ve never had this happen in a hotel before. We’re normally just left alone. It would put me off staying there again. The other staff in the hotel were great and very helpful.

Great hotel for families. We were given a very spacious room with two double beds and a living room with a sofa bed. Kitchenette was very helpful as well with a supermarket right across the street. It is certainly not luxurious but was clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff were ok. No breakfast but there’s a cafe next door and plenty of options nearby. 1 2 3 metro stations few blocks away. Definitely my go to when at NYC.

We stayed here for our family Xmas trip. Our group was 11 people. We loved: - location: beautiful neighborhood. The building in front of the hotel is a landmark. Fantastic Supermarket across the street. Although it’s on Broadway, that part of town is quiet. Metro station 2-3 blocks away, good restaurants very near, including the diner just below the hotel - Spacious suites: we stayed in 3, 1 bedroom suites. Very spacious with good closets and places to store clothing. The kitchen is complete and functional - service: we had some requests during our stay including asking for scissors to cut wrapping paper and the staff was always very helpful and smiling I would fully recommend this hotel for someone looking for a location like the one I described and space in the suite (we did not stay in a normal room)

The hotel beacon was very welcoming, well-kept, and definitely one of the best options for an in-city stay that is affordable, yet higher-end. I tried booking with a "reputable" hotel before switching to the Beacon. Best switch ever. The prior hotel had mold, never washed the carpets, etc. This hotel was as clean as I could've hoped for (especially in NYC)! And the bell staff and front desk are extremely accommodating.

The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. Luc at the front desk and Jett the doorman were especially wonderful. We even got a free room upgrade! The room was spacious, extremely clean, and beautifully decorated. We were on the newly renovated 23rd floor. The small kitchenette was very helpful. The location was wonderful. It's in a less touristy part of town but is still a very short taxi ride to all the main attractions. There is a grocery store across the street, and plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The only negative was we couldn't figure out how to control the a/c in the room.... we couldn't get any heat....so it was a bit chilly in the room.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Beacon Hotel! 🗽 The location is fantastic. Close to 72nd Street Station, making it super easy to get around on the 1/2/3 trains 🚆. So many great places to eat nearby: Slate Café, Viand, Sarabeth’s, plus lots more the hotel recommended that we didn’t even get to try 🍽️. Only a short, easy 3‑block walk to Central Park, and strolling there made us feel like locals rather than tourists 🌳. Our room was spacious, the kitchenette was incredibly handy, and the bathroom had plenty of toiletries 🧴. Having Fairway and Trader Joe’s close by made grabbing meals for the room super convenient 🛒. Every member of staff was warm and welcoming - Luke and Yomi were especially wonderful 😊.

You get a huge space for a reasonable price at Hotel Beacon. Do the rooms need a refresh? Absolutely. And a deep cleaning as well. However, outside of the that, the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for an extended stay, or if you just don't want to eat out every single meal. The staff are all kind and helpful, house keeping will replace any dirty dishes you leave in the sink (we just washed as we went), and the beds are super comfortable. Traveling with a 6-year-old presents it's challenges when staying in hotels, but our stay at Hotel Beacon felt like we had sublet an apartment for the week and it was a super easy and delightful stay. Great location to both the subway and buses, the Fairway across the street is open until midnight, and Cafe Viand next door has the best grilled cheese in the the city (according to our kiddo).

Full disclosure: I didn't stay at the Hotel Beacon (I live in the city) but I must say you can't beat the location, especially since it's literally steps away from the Beacon Theater! But I digress... I wanted to give a special shout out and thank you to Yomi at the Front Desk. I had a change purse string caught in the zipper of my purse (which I couldn't close) and I randomly stopped by the Hotel Beacon after a show at the Beacon Theater and Yomi was kind enough to fix it for me in a matter of minutes! Thank you again Yomi and thank you to Katherine as well who helped me remember Yomi's name!

Service was great, attentive, room was a good deal for the price. Didn't want to force my out of town friend to squeeze on my futon for the night so I decided to splurge on a room. It's located right next to the Beacon Hotel so if you're planning to see a show there it couldn't be any more convenient. Check in was quick and easy and they loaned me a charger when I realized i forgot one. Room was clean (for the most part) and spacious for my friend and me. The only thing I had a complaint about was that there was one random loose butterknife on the kitchenette counter - no other cutlery. I have no idea if this was used or not or fell or whatever so I just tossed it in the sink. And there was an unwrapped cracker on the floor by of the nightstand.

Lovely hotel. Great location. Clean, spacious rooms with mini kitchen. Plush towels. Nice staff. Our Keurig was broken and it was replaced immediately. Comfy bed.

Checked in on Thursday, room was ready and waiting for us. At checkin, they mentioned they upgraded us to another room with better views. Well they certainly did! This hotel was clean! The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The beds were so comfortable. I was also very surprised that it wasn't noisy at all. I kind of expected to hear sounds from the street (even on the 11th floor there is usually street noise), but it was quiet. It's a very nice location on Broadway, lots to do in the area. Saw a show on Friday at the theater and strolled next door afterwards. So convenient (which is why we selected this hotel in the first place). Now it's just my favorite hotel in Manhattan. We will see you again in September because we booked another show before we left. Can't wait!

You can't beat this location. Close to Central Park, good restaurants and the 72nd St Station. The rooms are ok. We had a one bedroom suite, with a living room and kitchen. All good sized. 3 of us shared the room. The bathroom is tiny but that's typical of New York. Unfortunately they were painting the room next to ours and the painter arrived pretty early and proceeded to get into a VERY loud phone argument with someone. In Russian. It was intense and woke us up. Eventually I had to go next door and ask him to lower his voice. Awkward. The rest of the staff is STELLAR. So kind and helpful. Always smiling. Prices were decent.

1st time in New York and the accommodations were perfect. HB rooms are very nice, amazing view nestled in between 74th & 75th on Broadway smack dang next to the Beacon Theatre. Staff went above and beyond, checked us in early, washed the dishes in our room, and Robert at the front desk "thank you" for the book when checking out and having the taxi ready for us when we left at the crack of dawn. Location is minutes from Central Park, The Met, steps from a Starbucks...lol. Not to mention, residents and their beautiful dogs are quite friendly! Definitely made the 1st part of the trip quite memorable. Thanks HB!!!

The Mr. and I stayed here in 2019, so when I started planning a girlfriend's trip, I knew the Hotel Beacon was the perfect choice. We booked the double queen room. Two beds + a pullout sofa, gave each of us our own bed. We loved having a living room area to sit and talk together. It was nice to have a refrigerator for drinks and goodies and having two closets was a plus. We had room for everything. Housekeeping kept our rooms spotless and the bathroom well stocked with towels. A note of welcome and a bottle of wine was such a nice touch. Thank you Hotel Beacon for making our stay in NYC such a pleasure! Additional Pros: Location, staff, great restaurants, and a subway just a few blocks away. HIGHLY recommended.

What a horrible hotel. It's dirty it's old and they charge way too much for a Hotel this rundown. I would stay anywhere else if I had a different option.

Great location for families! Near tons of playgrounds, childrens museum and natural history museum. In an area that feels like nyc but not crazy busy like midtown. We loved it Very nice staff and very helpful Rooms are average. Definitely a bit worn but not dirty, just worn with an 80s kitchenette. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, like a cloud. Everything was very clean

Stayed in a basic room. The room, and hotel in general, is very dated. Needs a major overhaul. The room had a lot of wear and tear. A musty odor and some really dated features which no guest will use, such as an old electric coil stove. Not sure how the more expensive rooms are, but the standard room, I'm sorry to say, is pretty bad.

We had roaches in our beds. The keys randomly stopped working and when my daughter's key didn't work when she got back late at night, they would not let her in the room even though her name was on the contract. She had to stay somewhere else. Also, the pullout bed is very uncomfortable. The hotel was under construction and half the facilities are closed for renovation. There was no mention of this on their website or during the reservation process.

We've been wanting to stay at Hotel Beacon for awhile as it is right next to the theatre. We finally found a great deal on booking.com when we went for Trey Anastasio. We were able to upgrade for a minimal increase and wow! So glad we did! The view from the 24th floor is outstanding. Bed is super comfy, I always appreciate when hotel pillows are not thin and they actually are supportive. Kitchenette was very handy and I was so impressed with the shower pressure. Hope to back again. Having a parking garage two blocks away was also very convenient. Love it!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beacon. Room and (small) bathroom were extremely clean, beds were comfy. The double pane windows are very effective at drowning out sounds. Lovely western view from 14th floor. Loved the kitchenette. My only negative comment were the rooms were a little tattered around the edges. But this is minor. Would absolutely stay here again!

Great historical residential hotel, with kitchenettes! Fabulous views! Excellent location on the Upper West Side!

Checked in to the least expensive 4 star on Priceline hotel in Manhattan tonight and Bob Dylan was playing a gig at the hotel bar. Had I known, I would have arrived at a reasonable time and checked it out. This hotel has three big positives 1) legitimate music venue on property, 2) Starbucks next door & 3) grocery store across street and in room kitchenette (good for families on vacation or extended business traveler - not me). In my opinion, this hotel is three stars. Should get another half star for rock legends playing at the hotel bar. Some very unique things about this hotel. Some would see as positive and some will see as negative. If the price is right or you need to be in this neighborhood (I didn't) this is an option.

Awesome stay. Central location. Easy park access. Highly recommended when staying in New York City.

Wow - what a great hotel! First of all, the location can't be beat. It is a block and a half from the 72nd stop on the 1,2,3 line; directly across the street from Fairway grocery store; two blocks from Riverside Park; and a few blocks from Central Park. There is also a playground a block and a half away. The area is incredibly safe -- I never felt uneasy walking to and from the hotel at any time. My husband, 5 yo, and I stayed in a king bed suite, which came with a kitchenette stocked with dinnerware and a separate living area with a pullout couch. The room was super quiet -- we couldn't hear a peep of outside noise. Housekeeping was superb! We will 100% stay here again the next time we come to NYC.

Love the service and friendliness of the staff. That was definitely the highlight of our stay. The location is decent around a few shops and stores, and within walking distance of Central Park and the subway (although only the red line so you may need to transfer frequently). Seemed pretty clean, so no issues there. One thing we noticed that there was no towel hook or ring to hang a hand towel (and a few cracks that would need new caulking), which become more annoying as our progressed, but other than a couple of small details, the amenities were really good (with a refrigerator, microwave and even with burners and dishware and utensils).

Loved this hotel !! Great view of the Ansonia building a cross the way and it is so beautiful at night. The hotel was great. Our room was large , clean, bed super comfortable. Great customer service !! The only disappointment was they no longer have a restaurant

This was our 4th or 5th stay at the Beacon and we consistently have a great experience. Our rates are always great and to have the kitchenette is a huge plus. The rooms are always clean and housekeeping is friendly and accommodating. I left a jacket in the closet and called 2 days after check out and it was returned to me. The only thing to be aware of is if you are on lower floors you can hear music/noise from the venue. We don't mind as it always wraps up before we go to sleep but if you are noise sensitive go for an upper floor. Feels like a home away from home. Thanks for another great visit!

My and wife are currently staying at this hotel. We found it to be charming, reasonably priced and very clean. ALL the staff are wonderful and willing to help with your requests plus it is right next to the Beacon theater. The hotel is located in a very nice upper west side neighborhood. My wife and I needed a cab. The doorman ran to the other side Broadway to get us a cab. He definitely ran out of his way to hail a cab for us. My wife is very picky but we both HIGHLY recommend this Hotel. When we come back to NYC, we will stay here again. Thank Beacon Hotel.

I always enjoy staying here while in New York. I love the kitchenette, it's just the right size for making breakfast. The location is ideally located near the subway. It's a short walk to Central Park. There's a grocery store just across the street. I like the hotel management, they are always responsive to my needs. The price for a room has risen dramatically over the years, but I find that I can still find a discounted price.

Pros: The location is great (short walk to the subway.) The kitchenette is very helpful. We were on the 21st floor, so we had fantastic views and very little street noise. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beds are comfy and come with 3 pillows each, including a longer body pillow. Cons: The bathroom did not have a fan or vent; instead it only had a small window that opened a couple inches, which is exactly 0% helpful when it's 90° outside. The sink literally overlapped the toilet (see photo) so doing your business required a little contortionism. There was a motion-sensor light on the floor near the bathroom, which seems like a good idea in theory but it's blinding when it clicks on because you rolled over in your sleep. Also, our showerhead made a godawful squealing noise while in use - we called it our screeching pterodactyl. But overall, it's a great hotel and a great choice to stay at! The inconveniences were pretty minor, but still something to be aware of.

We went to see Eddie Vedder at the Beacon and decided to stay in the hotel. Rooms were clean and it was so convenient to the show and what we wanted to see in the city.

FIVE STAR SERVICE ! We have been wanting to visit New York, New York for many years and finally the stars aligned. My wife found this hotel ( built in 1928 on the UPPER WEST SIDE OF MANHATTAN ) online...it's prime location on Broadway and facilities compared more than favorably with other hotels nearby. We booked a one bedroom apartment ( with separate bedroom, full kitchen /dining room ) $425 a night ) on the 21st floor ( 24 floors total ) for our 8 day vacation. Not huge but big enough given we planned to be out and about every day. My wife and I arrived here around 2.15pm on Sat, Sept 25th in a Lyft we had taken from Newark Airport, New Jersey. Immediately the high standards of this hotel became evident when Emilio the bubbling doorman /greeter helped unload our luggage. The reception desk staff were wonderful and helpful to a tee ! We were looking at a magnificent panoramic VIEW OF THE NEW YORK SKYLINE from the living room and bedroom huge full width windows within a few minutes. WHOO HOO ! And amazingly it was so quiet with no busy street noise coming up to bother us ( huge double pane windows which could be tilted open ever so slightly ). We never did as we like QUIET ! The bedroom ( king size bed ) was a good size with a large walk-in robe, the full kitchen had everything we needed and the adjoining living room was spacious enough. A large flatscreen TV in the living room and a smaller model in the bedroom plus plenty of storage for our luggage bags. The only real letdown was the tiny bathroom but we got over that fast. Getting back to our excellent location ON BROADWAY itself with the Beacon Theatre right next door....Bob Dylan himself played there recently and the Tedeschi Trucks Band were the headline act during our stay. There was no active hotel restaurant or bar ( closed ) but there was a place called Viand Cafe at the Beacon on the corner of the hotel ( probably was once the hotel restaurant ). In fact after we unloaded our luggage in our apartment and cleaned up a bit we headed downstairs to grab something to eat ( starving ). Emilio the doorman told us that Viand Cafe was just a diner but at almost 3pm we need lunch badly. It was okay ! Like I said we were out and about early every day....I bought craft beer at Fairway Market ( big supermarket which sells everything ) straight across the street. On our 2nd day our best discovery was Bluestone Lane on Amsterdam Ave...best coffee in New York and we had breakfast or lunch there or at other locations every day. Our apartment was impressively quiet in the evening, through the night and even in the early morning. Thanks to the DOUBLE PANE WINDOWS ! We told the reception desk staff about our discoveries every day we got back....Sala Thai just around the corner on Amsterdam Ave was a stand-out ! Every day we were given FRESH TOWELS and our bed was remade...EXCELLENT SERVICE ! We needed to use the laundry room a couple of times and the reception staff were helpful with a roll of quarters. Got to have clean clothes ! We loved the street, we loved the neighborhood, in fact we loved New York. And this historic hotel with it's fabulous service made our vacation even better !

I needed somewhere to escape to - not just because we are in covid times but because I just started graduate school. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was large and had a great view, not to mention a full kitchenette which meant I could cook for myself and save $. It was a reasonable walk to Central Park, which I made daily. I'm guessing it had its heyday when the Beacon Theatre was open and I hope they are able to weather the storm until it is again. But for a solidly comfortable, nice, clean, well-located hotel in NYC, this is great.

We'd booked into another hotel, but on arrival, found it woefully inadequate for our needs. It was midnight, and we were scrambling to find a different hotel. Then we remembered the Hotel Beacon, telephoned, and thankfully they had a room for us. What a relief! We ended up staying for a wonderful week, our spacious corner room came with kitchenette and magical views of Manhattan skyline. The location is perfect for shopping, transportation, restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cannot recommend too highly!

Our stay was lovely as always! The Hotel Beacon is centrally located in the heart of the Upper West Side. We are so grateful to David (one of many great hotel managers) for making our stay five stars. My tip is to request a higher floor 20 and above as it is well worth the extra cost. Definitely pick up gourmet groceries across the street at Fairway Market.Enjoy!

Fantastic place to stay! A real find! The location can't be beat --right across the street from two of the best food markets in the city: Fairyway, and Citarella, and just a few blocks from the famed Zabar's. Every room has a kitchenette, so you can sample the delights of the markets and enjoy at your leisure, in the comfort of your own place. Great views of New York skyline. I was able to walk almost everywhere I wanted to go, or take the subway which is a block away and buses that run continuously on Broadway. Staff is friendly and helpful, the room cleaners are superb. Everyone on staff is kind and warm. This will be my new home in NYC. Don't think twice, book it.

After postponing our wedding until 2022, my fiancé and I decided to have a mini ceremony in Central Park on our original 2021 date. All of our guests stayed at the Hotel Beacon, and we hosted our wedding "reception" in their penthouse suite (with terrace). The staff was helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process (from letting all of our guests check in early to reorganizing the suite to allow for buffet tables). The rooms are spacious, clean and modern. I'd recommend getting a higher room for the nice views!

I have stayed in dozens of NYC hotels . This hotel is always my favorite . Great neighborhood and staff ! Street parking is an option if desired . If you get a normal room it's beautiful. If you luck out with a special room (they have many) it's top of the NYC hotel room totem pole . Great property!

I've never been to a hotel where the mouse catching strips actually stuck to our feet! Obviously a mouse problem in the hotel. Two star only because the staff was pleasant.

The hotel is in a great location. That is its best quality so if you are ok paying a lot for a beaten up room then this is your place. When I let them know the mini fridge didn't work because the freezer element was frozen and the sink handles fell off I barely received a shoulder shrug. There was hair in the bathtub and it looked like a wolverine chewed on the duvet. Once again good location but not $300 good.

Very nice hotel centrally located on the UWS. I wanted to do a staycation on the UWS for a few nights; thanks to my Expedia points, I was able to get this hotel at an unbelievable discount. Service/Staff: Very friendly and helpful. I checked in about 3:30 pm there were a few others in front of me however my wait was only about 2 minutes. After dinner, my keycard stopped working. I went down to the front desk, had it re-activated and tried again, still no luck. The security guard then came with me to see what was up. As it turns out, I had the lock turned to 'automatic deadbolt' and did not switch it back over before leaving. (NOTE: Turn the auto deadbolt off prior to leaving). Security went back downstairs and got the proper key and finally I was able to get in. Even though this was a nuisance, I actually felt much safer in knowing that this feature exists and anyone with a staff key could not just walk in. Room: The rooms are pretty much a mini apartment. To think of it, they are bigger than some NYC apartments. I had a queen suite with a view. The kitchenette had a gas stove (4 burners), medium size refrigerate, sink and coffee maker (k-cup). The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and silverware. This room would be IDEAL for families that are on a budget and don't want to spend a lot on dining out for every meal. There are 2 major grocery stores right across the street for ease and convenience as well. You could easily have breakfast and lunch in the room. Bedroom/Bath: The beds are comfortable and the bathroom was clean, stocked with very nice products. Bring your own hairdryer. Although they do provide one, it the annoying dryer that's mounted to the wall with the short cord ....it takes forever to get your hair dry. Surrounding Area: There is so much to do. You're within walking distance of the park, museums and wonderful restaurants. The Beacon Bar is right next door offering little apps and nice cocktails. (HH 3-6). Cons: My room was right next to the electrical closet and the elevator. All night I heard random noises along with the sound of the elevator going up and down. The thermostat never really worked. Last night was freezing and today was abnormally warm, when I tried to adjust, nothing happened. In all, a wonderful stay. I will definitely recommend The Beacon to my friends and family.

A fantastic hotel in a wonderful location. Located among some of the best bakeries in NYC. A 24 hour hot dog stand steps away. Simple access to the 1 train. Nice spacious room. Excellent lobby. Luggage storage. Well staffed front desk. Elevators are quick and efficient. Food store across the street. One of the best hotels in the city. Great quiet sleep. Easy access to LGA.

I LOVE the Hotel Beacon! I was planning an event for 70 people and a friend recommended I check out the Beacon, not only for accommodations but for hosting the event. I'm so glad I did! Chris and Alida in the sales department were beyond spectacular, attending to every detail with patience and professionalism. The event was a huge success and I couldn't be happier. AND my room was amazing! It was modern, comfortable and much larger than I'm used to for the city. It had all the amenities you would expect and some extra. There was a bar attached to the hotel, a lovely cafe nextdoor and a Starbucks on the corner. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Normally I stay in Midtown but it was such a nice change to be away from the tourist chaos. I have found my new favorite NY hotel!

Avoid rooms (ending in 01 and 06, first ten or twelve floors) at end of east wing-loud elevator in next building with adjoining wall. On rooms with sleeper bed couch: cushions slope down toward front making them really uncomfortable to sit on as a couch. Hotel has a plywood board they give you to put under the cushions if you complain-it doesn't work. 3 stars vs 4 because, otherwise, it is a great hotel. Will update on checkout.

I read the reviews and decided to book a room at the Beacon for our NYC trip. The location is amazing - near Central Park and the American Museum of Natural History. However, I was extremely disappointed to find that they do not provide housekeeping on the weekends. In addition, we did not have our room cleaned for the 4 days that we quarantined. In all, our room has been cleaned 1 time in 5 days. Had I known this and given that every hotel that I have ever stayed at provides this service, I would have stayed elsewhere. The front desk noted that they were "short staffed" however there was no mention of reducing our room rate for lack of service.

What the hell is that noise!!??? Seriously! I called at 4pm to investigate the sound of what I can only assume to be hydroelectric lifts and equipment. I called down to inquire, "sir I can't do anything if it's the theater". That's funny because not only is there a restaurant between the hotel and theater, my room is situated on the other end of the block!!! F. U. !! Now it's 12:30am and it's smashing hydraulic equipment again. I call down and the man states " I'll send someone to investigate etc." me: "you MF'n liars" Then they send maintenance to my room at 1am with my sleeping son in bed. If I even have to explain any further........ never again! I've stayed all over the world, and I can safely say this place suuuuuucks......

Stayed here for the last 2 days and it has been a pleasure. It's a great location (a short walk to the natural history museum) on Broadway in the upper west side. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Someone always available with tips and answers, the offer of an umbrella to use in the rain, ideas for where to go for dinner. There are 3 elevators , laundry facilities, and a comfortable lobby. Our room has everything needed to eat in, there's a stove, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. There's good water pressure in the shower and comfortable furniture, including a desk for working. Our only challenge is that there are not usb outlets, or enough plugs available for charging our devices. The bed is comfortable and we slept great. We will definitely stay here again.

This is now my favorite hotel in NYC! It has everything I need. I lived in NYC so am pretty familiar with areas and UWS is always a good location for me as many of the things I like to do are there. I will stay at the Beacon again when I travel. Food: Many good places to eat nearby. This is NYC. Situated across the street from Fairway and near 2 other stores I love is perfect. There's a fridge and microwave and dishes etc should you need to cook. It was useful for me for snacks and morning breakfast and water etc Location: UWS- near train stops Service: This was the winner: Wonderful kind service. The manager Slava bent over backward for my requests ahead of time and even answered the emails when he was off duty. The housekeeping is great yet not intrusive. I don't use housekeeping much- to save water but they did what I needed the days I asked. Soft clean towels, nice sheets. Amenities: Nice bar downstairs open in the evening for snacks and drinks. They also have a happy hour. There is laundry and they take credit card! I sure did a load! Room: My room was overlooking Broadway. The theater crowd dies down 1030 weekdays and 11P weekends. I was on a low floor yet this didn't bother me. The bed is nice and comfortable. The room is clean and not outdated. Feels very New York. This is an amazing hotel with wonderful service. I loved my stay!

If you want great service, friendly staff and relaxing accommodations-you want Hotel Beacon. I was traveling with my family, six of us, and we reserved a two bedroom suit. Plenty of room for all of us. I especially appreciated the complimentary wine tasting in the afternoon.

Great hotel! A classic in the city and located close to many places within walking distance!

The Beacon is a decently-updated hotel in a great spot on the UWS, with lots of benefits, especially for a longer stay. - Three blocks to the 72nd St subway stop, with express and local trains - Close to the Natural History Museum and Central Park - Lots of amenities (banks, drug stores, Citerella and Fairway, bodegas) in close proximity - Surprisingly quiet, considering my room overlooked Broadway - Good sized rooms and generous bathroom - Kitchenette in the room with sink, fridge, a couple of burners and plates/silverware. I popped across the street to Fairway for yogurt and bagels for breakfast, and there was decent coffee in the room, so I was all set There are a couple of things to be aware of: - The wifi was pretty spotty while I was there, don't count on it as your sole source of internet - No late check out. I asked for a 2 p.m. check out (regular checkout is at noon) and was told I could check out at 2 - for an additional $280. I read that as no late check out - Not a comment on the Beacon itself, but the Westside is a hike from LaGuardia. When I lived on the Eastside, I could get home from LGA in about 20 minutes. The Westside usually takes closer to 45. Just be patient on the ride in, it can take a while to get across the park. It's worth it though I'll definitely return to the Beacon. I did book a pre-paid reservations, which was significantly less expensive than a standard booking.

Nice. Close to Beacon Theatre is an understatement! Room is great size, esp for NYC. Kitchenette a wonderful plus.

I do not often write reviews but people need to know about this. First of all, the hotel is worn out. From the furniture to the doors to the towels to the lamps to the floors. I get that NY is expensive but... The second part which needs to be mentioned is that the cleaning ladies (3 of them) were EXTREMELY RUDE and did not do their job properly. My mother got sick and had to stay inside. While they were making the beds she requested to tighten the sheets which were poorly made and fix them properly but they declined by saying: I am not gonna do this cause if I did I would never finish with all the rooms. Shocking I'd say. The worst part of course is the illegal charges made on our credit card. They charged unduly 944.40 euros to my credit card  DESPITE the fact that everything had been prepaid by our travel agent well in advance of our checkin date! They did not mention anything and the charge was done covertly. On a previous stay they did the same thing to our friends. STILL TRYING TO GET MONEY BACK, HAD TO MAKE COSTLY PHONE CALLS FROM BELGIUM.   This seems more as if they are running a scam with double-charging people than an honest one time mistake. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL.

We liked the Hotel Beacon a lot. Everybody was friendly, the room was clean, there was a small kitchen, and there were two grocery stores across the street. It was so nice that we could have spent weeks there, bet three nights seemed sufficient since we were there for a concert. No bedbugs, roaches, or mice were seen. TV worked well and the wifi was fast enough. The only thing that could be better would be if the hotel could valet park the car for us, but it worked out. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Room Service cleaned my room but neglected to close my door!! My door was left open a half inch all day!! There is a metal guard bolted into the wall near the top of each room's front door. To secure the room when you are inside you swing the metal guard to the left. When exiting the room you swing the metal guard to the right. I arrived at my room to find my door open because the cleaning person positioned the metal guard in a way that barred the door from closing. I'm not sure how or why the cleaning person did this but it must be one of her hobbies: I saw two other rooms that day on my floor similarly left open. Luckily, nothing in my room was stolen. The only thing missing was the 5-dollar-bill I left for the cleaning person -- money, I now feel, which was not earned. I called room service to tell them of the problem. It took them at least 10 minutes to come up to my floor and close the other doors similarly affected. No one ever contacted me to apologize (the room service man didn't apologize when I was on the phone with him informing them of the problem). I wrote a note and left it in the hall the next morning for the cleaning staff letting them know I did NOT want them to clean my room for the remainder of my stay because I didn't trust them to properly shut my door. The note was removed with no response. I was not looking for a monetary apology, simply an acknowledgment of the problem and a "we are sorry this happened and we are taking steps that this doesn't happen again." Since I didn't receive the acknowledgment I am writing this review. There were other smaller issues with my room: 1) The thermostat refused to be regulated. I've been to this hotel before and I know how to work the thermostat. This one had a mind of its own. 2) The metal security guard I've already written about is bolted to the wall with three huge screws. Two of the screws were completely missing (I mean, where the heck did they go??? It takes a lot to remove two long screws, doesn't it??). The guard was loose and wobbly, being held by just one screw the way it was. 3) The bathroom sink was very slow to drain. 4) The doohicky you pull in the bathroom to stop the drain in the sink came off in my hand (no, it didn't work). 5) Here something the hotel WANTS to have happen which I found most annoying: There is a VENT right above the SHOWER that continuously blows out COOL AIR. The vent must be for ventilation because the bathroom has no windows but it is MIGHTY ANNOYING to have COOL AIR wafting on you while you are taking a shower and even worse once the shower has been turned off and you are drying yourself off. I mean, who wants COOL AIR blowing on them when they are wet in the shower??? Needless to say, the effect is chilling.
