We recently stayed a few days at Hotel Becket in South Lake Tahoe and had a pleasant experience overall. The location is one of the hotel’s biggest strengths—situated within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, and attractions. This is especially helpful since paid parking is common in the area, so being able to explore on foot is a big plus. The room itself was clean and well-maintained. The towels and bedding were fresh, and the decor had a modern rustic touch that added character to the space. The bed was decent—comfortable enough for a few nights' rest. The only downside was the shower, which was quite small and might feel cramped for some guests. Breakfast was a nice surprise each morning, with a variety of options to choose from. A young gentleman working in the breakfast area stood out with his kind and helpful attitude. He checked for breakfast passes and provided great customer service without being intrusive. One thing to note: the hotel’s parking lot is on the smaller side. If you plan to leave during the day, it's a good idea to return by mid-afternoon or early evening to secure a spot near your room. Overall, Hotel Becket offered a comfortable stay in a fantastic location, and we appreciated the hospitality and convenience during our time in South Lake Tahoe.

So sad… I love staying at Best Western hotels. I am a platinum tier member and I cannot believe what I experienced. I've only EVER written a good review, so this is disheartening. There was an open bin of garbage left RIGHT outside our entry door over night. My car alarm kept going off in front of my room over night and when I went out to check, The laundry dolly used as a garbage bin, Was dumped over, garbage and refuse everywhere. I am disabled and use a mobility device. In the morning, l walked through the garbage with my dogs. Then after taking them to the bathroom, l walked to the lobby to find it locked. No notice, no information. Just locked. I called the front desk to ask if there were issues with bears or other animals understandably. I was told that it was raccoons. I was told someone would be by to pick it up. This took hours! I couldn't go to breakfast until it was picked up as I was wading through ankle deep garbage. I went to the breakfast and I was so disappointed and disheartened I have never in my life stayed at a Best Western, whose breakfast was this bad! I was genuinely surprised. Upon check out, I thanked the young woman for the garbage being picked up And did let her know that in our room, in the bathroom, on the wall were bloody boogers. That even felt gross to write that in this review! I photographed the bloody boogers and told the young lady that I was surprised and appalled about the garbage outside my door, the length of time it took to clean it up and the bloody boogers on my wall in the bathroom and that I was disappointed for the first time staying at a Best Western. She told me that " it was literally raccoons and it happens all the time." I then let her know my concern for knowing about the animal destruction and willingly leaving open bins of refuse outside hotel rooms. She was unfazed. I was contacted by management after our stay. They were very apologetic and genuinely concerned for the disappointment in our stay. We were issued a very nice apology letter as well as an immediate refund of our stay. After hearing from management in such a timely manner as well as concern for my issues, we will be giving Hotel Becket another try on our next trip to South Tahoe.

The whole “we don’t actually process payment prior to arrival” really needs to be made clear to residents that book in advance. I booked my room all the way back in April, and I even got a receipt with a confirmation number saying I was paid in full and had to pay nothing on arrival. Of course, when I got there, they decided to charge me 220 something dollars and there’s also the 50 dollar security deposit they don’t tell you about ahead of time as well. Every person I spoke to that worked there had the nastiest attitude as well, maybe if they put their iPhones down every once in a while they might be able to muster the strength to pick up the front desk phone from time to time. I wouldn’t recommend this stay to anyone. I’d give zero stars if I could, so I’ll say the one star is for the breakfast, it was actually pretty good, except the coffee, I might as well have been drinking water.

What an absolute DIVE! They give the BW a bad name. This place is run down, horrible service- I mean horrible service. Upon check in ( that will not happen before 4P) we got some child with zero customer service skills helping us. She was rude and did not answer any questions we had. We also requested a bottom floor, both when we made the reservation and when we got there early and could not check in. We needed it for ADA. You see they are NOT ADA compliant. Our room had ONE towel in it. The front office said the towels were in the washer! What? So we could not shower before our dinner. The entire shower nozzle is coming out of the wall and you can not change the position. The shower is full of black mold. This will be reported, black mold is deadly. The shower you can't even turn around in it and I am a little person . It's the tiniest shower I have ever seen in a hotel or anywhere . You can tell they've attempted to remodel because there's little nooks everywhere that make no sense at all . The patching and painting on the walls and the ceiling look like a four-year-old did it . The cable is coming out of the bathroom area stapled along the wall and a hole drilled to reach the TV .The grounds ( area where the pool used to be).... no pool people, and is full of trash. The carpet is so filthy that when you walk around in your bare feet your feet are black. That is absolutely disgusting. The parking is an absolute joke. Clearly not enough parking for the number of rooms they have . One night got back and had to park down the street ! This is absolutely not acceptable when I am paying over $400 a night for a room I expect to be able to park my vehicle in the parking lot . No one from the hotel cleans up the area. The "free" breakfast is not worth the walk to the other side of the hotel. The coffee is absolutely gross, not even drinkable . The only thing good I can say the pillows were comfortable. The room was dirty and the lights that hang over the beds were had to remove the shades during our stay because you get out of bed and hit your head. This place should be taken down, it is disgusting!!!! I think the health department needs to be called into this place cause it's clearly not sanitary!

It's was nice hotel only issues were not enough parking. Room service such as house keeping was upon request. They only had smoke alarms installed & not sprinkler system in case of a fire. The breakfast that's included with the hotel is at a restaurant that's attached with the hotel foods not bad. Location wise pretty good lake wasn't to far although you did have to pay $30 to get in but after 5pm they charge $10 & that's per person. Very clean area a lot of things to do but around 10pm a majority of the stores tend to start closing

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. When I arrived at 2 pm to check in (I understand that’s a little early), I was told no rooms were available. I’ve stayed at many hotels where early check-in is possible—even as early as 1 pm—and what bothered me most was that no effort was made to even look for another room that might be ready. I found it surprising that out of all the rooms, not a single one was available, and the staff didn’t even try to accommodate. The bigger issue came the day before we checked out. I called the front desk and specifically requested that housekeeping come in to change our bed sheets, replace our towels, and empty the trash. The front desk staff assured me someone would take care of it. However, when we returned to the room about seven hours later, nothing had been done. This was extremely frustrating, especially since I was told it would be handled — and it really sucked because I paid $700 to stay here and expected at least the basics to be taken care of. Overall, the lack of follow-through, poor service, and lack of effort to make things right left me very disappointed with my stay. For the price I paid, it was not worth it, and I would not stay here again.

Had a very comfortable stay. The location is excellent, making it easy to get around. It’s also budget friendly without compromising on quality. The breakfast was good and added to the overall experience. Would definitely recommend!

The hotel front desk was slow and they charge for parking — if you book on booking.com they will say it’s “booking’s site” and take no accountability. They can’t even show where an additional parking fee was disclosed anywhere. They don’t have a way to get from one side of the hotel to the other, so you have to go back out across the road and turn left if you’re on the other side. Multiple people were complaining about this when we got there. The entrance is pretty tight and it was blocked by cars parking since people were waiting in line for so long to get checked in. The room we stayed in had a shower so small you could barely turn around. The sink’s water pressure was so high that if you washed your hands or face, water would splash everywhere. There was no fan in the bathroom, so we had to open the window, which was cracked. They will give you a voucher to their restaurant for breakfast, which is from 7-10. The restaurant it’s in actually isn’t open yet, so it’s a continental breakfast but not a full blown restaurant breakfast if that’s what you’re looking for. The location is across the road from Heavenly so there are shops to visit and walk to. Overall, not impressed. We did not feel like we were treated honestly and that there would be higher quality options in the area we would explore in the future.

Yelp
This review is earning the bbq restaurant only not hotel . The staff was amazing. We got bbq wings and bbq ribs. The ribs where great. The wings where very small and dry. My sn had a hamburger and got food poisoning. He's been sick for about 16 hours. Only a note to please be careful of the meat you serve . ..... this took 2 days off of our vacation and a sick kid throwing up. We r fine, it was only the hamburger.
