We stayed 3 weeks - Dec 15 - Jan 5/26, prior to moving into our apartment. Here's what we loved about the place: location, conveniently located to everything you need - everything. Adrian, Hotel Reception afternoon shift - this man was WONDERFUL, can't say enough about him - he helped us with every need we had. He took care of all our needs, getting us a driver to go to Bucerias, anything we needed he was there. We enjoyed our conversations, he is well extremely well spoken in English & a very charming person. We were told @ booking, that drinking water would be included & was disappointed when we were told it wasn't. When Adrian arrived, he assured me it was, & took care of the matter for us right away. Carried it up himself all 85 steps.
We had some difficulty getting our room cleaned at first, but that was because we were not told the process when we checked in. Again, Adrian stepped up & explained everything that was missed at check in.
Shout out to Job who checked us in early check in & fixed our A/C when we had an issue. Shout out to Ever who was kind & helped us with our luggage. Wow was he strong - he carried all 3 of our bags down 85 steps. And he always asked how we were, was everything ok and he was always smiling!!
We had an efficiency suite on the top floor - so we had what we needed to make small meals. The 2 burner hot plate was outdated but it worked ok for our needs. The shower pressure is low, but the water was hot - that's what mattered. The linens were white & clean & fresh.
We had 2 challenges overall - STAIRS, no elevators, 85 steps to the top floor & 85 back down. We knew that going in, but it was tough. I'm in good physical condition, but anyone with physical problems, this is going to be a challenge. We are getting older & it was struggle, especially in the heat. We had of luggage because we are here for 3 months - thank goodness for Job who carried it up & for Ever who carried it down.
My biggest issue was NOISE. I had a hard time sleeping. I'm a light sleeper. Light comes in the room, from all facets. If you are a light sleeper, this place is not for you. The hotel is open air & voices would carry all the way from the bottom to the top - at all hours of the day. Noise on the street, from traffic, rarely settled down until about 3 am. The room was not sound proof either & the boom boom boom from the roof top bar across the street late at night was extremely frustrating. Another challenge was that our floor, had a seating area, & loungers. Other hotel guests thought it was ok to come upstairs to our floor - drink alcohol & sit outside our room talking, & laughing loud late at night. It was very frustrating. There are no phones in the room so the only way you can connect the front desk without running downstairs, is via WhatsApp. To their credit, when I contacted them, they came up right away and asked these people to leave. Thank you midnight shift - we truly appreciated your expediency.
I never met Gisela the Manager, but I want her to know, if she's reading this. Adrian goes above and beyond, he understands a great business model. He also helped another guest - whom we befriended (he became our son away from home), & he shared his story with us & how Adrian helped him too.
The attributes, definitely outweighed the challenges and I gave it 4 stars because of Adrian. Mary & John.
