This Europe trip has been over a year in the planning, so I can't remember how I found this particular hotel -- I think it may have been mentioned in a Rick Steves guidebook. I'd originally looked for us to stay on the mainland, since the prices on Venice were so expensive, but the price here was extremely reasonable and it saved us having to travel back and forth from Mestre each day. The staff was very responsive to my emails, and easily filled my odd request of a single room for one night and a triple room for one night (due to one member of our traveling party arriving earlier than the rest of us).
The hotel is located in a little alleyway not far from the Rialto bridge (we took Alilaguna from the airport). It is a little tricky to find, but there is a sign for the hotel in the main square. The staff was great at getting us checked in -- one of my sisters had arrived the day earlier, and they were happy to hold her luggage until her room was ready, and also to move it the next day to the triple room while she was out running around trying to figure out where to meet us. Our triple room was in the main hotel, and had three twin beds, a sink, an armoire, a desk, and two nightstands all in a good sized, light, airy room. It was a bit noisy with the windows open at night, but it's Venice! The shared bathroom was just down the hall. The shower room was a bit cramped; there was a plastic chair to put your towel and clothes, but the shower curtain was too short for the stall, so the floor got pretty wet and there was no point in trying to use a bathmat.
Breakfast in the morning was a continental spread of croissants, breakfast breads and cakes, canned and fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, milk, and coffees -- quite adequate to keep you going for a long day of walking and sightseeing. The staff held our luggage for us after we checked out, which allowed us to sightsee without having to lug around backpacks; they were also very accommodating as we stopped in throughout the day to use the restroom and wi-fi.
The price for the single room was €35, and the price for the triple room was €82, easily making this one of the best values in hotels for our entire trip.
