Great greeting on arrival. Nice but simple breakfast in a beautiful dining room. Samedan is a lovely quiet spot but a 10inute train ride to St Moritz. Lovely town to walk around without the pretentious air of St Moritz. The hotel is true old European style. Loved it.

The hotel looked nice from the outside and the general areas, especially the breakfast room. The train station was easily accessible if needed, as well as 1 -2 restaurants within walking distance|Unfortunately, a lot of things were inadequate. First of all, general things: we were not served at breakfast and only got a coffee after 30 minutes, while they served other people.. The selection was also not particularly good, here the room was much better than the actual offer. They spoke no german, which was fine for me, but might be something that is an issue for others. Parking was quite full when we arrived.|However, extremely negative was the fact that we booked a suite for a lot of extra money for a special anniversary, but only got an much worse junior suite instead???? How is that even legal? As we arrived very late and the staff left at 10pm, we couldn't say anything about this either. Absolute rip-off! In addition, there was only one bathrobe and slippers in the room for two people, the sauna etc. could not be used without an early prior reservation, the bed was EXTREMELY hard (at home we have hard beds), the furnishings were not pretty, and it was very very stuffy - sure, the building is old & has no air conditioning and thats ok, but a fan could at least have been in there or the windows opened before we arrived. So we had to sleep with the windows open and it was very noisy due to the train and regular motorcyclists. And that with outside temperatures of 22 degrees. I don't want to know what it would be like at 30 degrees. Also, the bathtub and kettle were super dirty from the inside. Overall, it looked and smelled, like nobody was in there for a while and the room didnt really got prepared. We can't recommend this hotel, find something else.

We had a most enjoyable stay at this charming hotel. The rooms are immaculate and spacious with comfortable beds and a sitting area. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable: Veronica and David stand out in the high level of gracious service that they provide. The breakfast is served in a beautiful ballroom like place with views of the mountains on one end. The pizza they serve is mouthwatering and the Pinot Noir is excellent. The hotel is well located: a short walk from the train and walking paths. Highly recommend!!!

Absolutely fantastic hospitality from Veronica, Elia, Ariel & Hassan. Not forgetting the housekeeping personnel who were so helpful with the laundry issue. Special shout out to Veronica who was super awesome and what a brilliant personality! We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Overrated and expensive hotel. The customer service was not very friendly. The breakfast could have had more savory options. We had to ask for coffee twice, and there was no milk served with it — we had to take it from a nearby table. Do not, under any circumstances, pay the full price for this place.

Hotel Bernina 1865 is a lovely relaxing stay, with spacious rooms, a grand breakfast ballroom with dreamy mountain views and an incredibly caring staff. Veronica and David who work the restaurant and the bar take great care in their work and approach each encounter with great enthusiasm and energy- they made our stay delightful, despite us being there on the off-season with not much else to do in town! They added a wonderful personal touch and personality to compliment the stately grandeur and history of this mountain valley getaway.

We stayed for three years in a row. The hotel has some nice vintage grand hotel atmosphere in the exteriors or the breakfast hal. Two very good restaurants. However, the best part is the service, and we mainly return for the people running the place, especially for Veronica, who is the heart and center of a lovable crew. She's funny, welcoming, has everything under control, and makes you feel at home. Always looking forward to meeting her again (the charm of a grand hotel is to a large part the relationship with the hosts year after year); she's the reason you want to come back again.|A negative point is the prices, which are very high for the rooms, especially when you are loyal and book in advance. Waiting until some days before arrival with your booking could save you easily more than half the price which - in my view - is not very smart in building a loyal customer basis. If it wasn't for Veronica and her team's hospitality, we wouldn't come back.

I stayed at Hotel Bernina when i was on a business trip. Overall a great hotel with a lot of heritage. My favorite part of the hotel was the beautiful breakfast hall with large chandeliers hanging from the tall celling with big windows revealing the surrounding mountains. Other than the hotel itself being beautiful i must applaud the staff for being some of the most welcoming and kind people i've met at any hotel – always making sure that all the guests feel at home. As i said, everyone in the staff was amazing but i must give two special mentions. By the end of our stay Veronica had charmed everyone in our big group (30+ people) with her Italian way of doing things. She is working at the hotel restaurant and at the breakfast. She's charming, has a lot of personality and it felt more like you were talking to an old friend than talking to a waitress. A fantastic woman, if you meet her you will understand what i'm talking about. By the way, i happened to try five different pizzas on our one week stay and i can confirm that the "Diavola" pizza is the best one they make in their wood fired pizza oven. Why five pizzas in seven days? It was a challenge me and a colleague had. I'm forever grateful for Ariel (with team) who helped me ship a hard drive that i forgot in my room all the way to Sweden. That's the kind of service most hotels could only dream about! You might come here for the beautiful hotel with stunning views but you'll stay for the amazing staff! 10/10 would absolutely reccomend!
