Where to Stay in Copenhagen When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"Situated right on the canal in the center of Indre By, I found Hotel Bethel occupies three historic buildings (the red building, the yellow building, and the warehouse), and offers comfortable rooms with cozy mattresses, some with stunning canal views, plus a tasty and filling breakfast." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Copenhagen (Updated2025)

"I stayed at the three-star Hotel Bethel, situated right on the canal in the center of Indre By. The property comprises three historic buildings with large, spacious, clean rooms that feel comfortable and minimalist (modern but a little dated); rooms are carpeted and include a flatscreen TV, desk, wardrobe, and free Wi‑Fi. There’s no in-room coffee/tea maker, but I appreciated the lounge’s free coffee and tea 24/7; breakfast (not included) is filling with lots of variety—mostly cold items like pastries, cold cuts, and cereal. Bathrooms are small but clean with great shower pressure, there’s no gym or extras, and the hotel offers larger rooms good for families — an affordable, central, no-frills choice with an unbeatable location." - Matthew Kepnes

This is such a great location hotel, right on the river and across from the famous postcard worthy Nyhavn. The service is wonderful and the rooms are perfect size and the beds were soooo comfy! It was pretty central to everything with bakeries within walking distance. The breakfast spread was excellent although not included in the price, so be aware. It is roughly $20 USD per person.

This hotel is wonderful! Everything was perfect. The rooms were spotless, and the staff were incredibly helpful—nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was perfect, with plenty of options to choose from. It's conveniently located in the heart of the city, close to the canal, harbour and all the important landmarks. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again! Aug 2025

Large, clean room with comfortable beds and sufficient toiletries and towels. Breakfast had a broad selection of cereals, breads, fruits, pastries, meats and freshly-cut cheese. The reception staff (the lady working the day and the gentleman working the evening) were extremely friendly, helpful, and made for a genuine and warm welcome - we appreciated that very much. The location on the river and the view were great.||It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator in the room.

The location doesn't get any better than this, right on Nyhavn. Our room overlooked the harbor, boats and colorful buildings. In the evening it was lovely falling asleep to the sounds of diners chatting at the restaurants. For more quiet, there are rooms overlooking a courtyard too. Lovely large lobby area with couches, tables, large windows, tea and coffee always available and beer and wine for purchase. Our room was small, consistent with an old building in such a popular area. However, it was immaculate, the bed and linens were comfortable, there was good lighting, including bedside reading lights, and the windows opened, letting in fresh air and light. The bathroom is tiny, with very limited counter space and the smallest shower ever. But, it didn't leak! And the water pressure was high, water was hot and the showered was high up. Breakfast is pretty good. Fresh breads, yogurts, cold cuts and cereals. Definitely recommend.

Perfect location and great stay. Clean room and bathroom. Friendly and courteous staff. Complimentary WiFi and coffee available 24*7. Seating area at the coffee place and Library near the reception is really nice. Receptionist Mariam is friendly and helpful. She provided all the relevant information about Copenhagen - tourist attractions, Metro, etc.

We absolutely loved this hotel! The location couldn’t be better (right at Nyhavn), the rooms were spotless and cozy, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The buffet breakfast was delicious and such a great start to the day. If you’re visiting Copenhagen, this is the place to stay!

This was our first stop on holiday and we couldn’t have been happier with the location and easy access via Metro from the airport. Helpful staff and soundproof windows added to the positive experience. Loved it and highly recommended for a few days on the Nyhavn with short walks to the Opera House, Rosenborg Castle and the Torvehallerne market.

The hotel is one of the colourful buildings on Nyhavn.|We were allocated Room 222 which was a corner room that had fabulous views of the boats, restaurants & daily life down below. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed & seating area and it was all very fresh looking and clean. |The location is very convenient for bus stops and a metro that takes you to the airport as well as other parts of the city.|We arrived at approximately 11.am and were given a warm welcome by Mariam , she suggested we try a local restaurant to have lunch which unfortunately was closed so we went on a canal tour instead.|She informed us that she’d try to get our room ready early and she did, it was ready by the time we returned at 1pm - we were really grateful for her kind gesture especially as there was no awkward conversations about early check in charges!|The hotel also offered free teas & coffees in the decent size reception area which had plenty of seats, tables, books and lovely views.|Breakfast was a lovely selection of continental buffet - something for everyone! |Thank you Miriam & Ida - it was lovely to chat to you both.
