This Underrated Mexico Destination Is Set Across 9 Bays — With Laid-back Beach Towns, Bioluminescent Waters, and Charming Hotels

"Hotel Binniguenda Huatulco is much more centrally located to La Crucecita, though it's technically in Bahía de Santa Cruz. The all-inclusive resort has 77 guest rooms, a long list of restaurants, a private beach club, and a spa." - Travel + Leisure Editors

This our second time at the Binniguenda. It is the oldest hotel in Huatulco but is kept up quite well. We loved it the last time and noticed several improvements were made since our first stay last year. The beach club is now open longer till 6 pm and new loungers were added. The only thing missing to make it even better would be an upgrade in the wifi that is spotty and not available on the beach. The majority of guests are Mexicans who have data plans, but for foreign guests that may not be the case. We love the friendly very responsive staff and the great beach and beach club. As for the food, it is Mexican food in Mexico and may not live up to some travellers expectations of what they’re used to at home. Everything we ate was great! We also like that the hotel is right a in Santa Cruz and we could just walk out into town for dinner at one of the many restaurants.

By far our favourite Hotel in Hualtuco, mostly due to the people who work at this property. All staff were unbelievably friendly, courteous and always doing their best to make our stay special. Property was clean and well maintained.

Let’s see, no hot water in the morning if you are an early riser. The room smells like mildew. Then we were accused by the housekeeper of smoking in the room. Neither of us smoke. This was after leaving housekeeping a tip.no food or coffee before 7;30am.the all inclusive food is at best poor.huatulco is laden with garbage in the streets. The only good point is the Mexican people are very kind and mostly helpful.

We stayed 5 nights, in a King room on the second floor with a view of the pool. ( lots of sound from the happy children in the pool until well into the night and evening). Our room was well air conditioned; the bed was very comfortable. Viviana checked us in upon our arrival and was very welcoming. We had great interaction with her at the front desk throughout our stay. Our room wasn’t ready as we arrived quite early in the day, so we visited the Chachacual Snack Bar for a drink and a snack. Tomas looked after us, and remembered our names for the rest of our stay. We had breakfast and dinner daily in the Palapa Chahué buffet restaurant. There is ample seating both in the large Palapa style restaurant and there is also an adjacent courtyard area where we had most of our meals. There is an omelette/egg station at breakfast, and check for special offerings here, such as fish tacos, at dinner time. Lots of selections to choose from. Nightly shows, except Sundays, at 9, provided great entertainment. Special thanks for their attention go out to servers, Talia, Noemi, Gaby and Lorenzo. Everyone did a great job, and remembered our names as well! We would recommend this resort for couples, or families, especially with children. Lots of fun at the pool, and of course, with frequent shuttles, the Nirú Beach Club is a must. We spent all of our four days here at the beautiful pool, and it’s an easy 10 minute walk if you prefer a little light exercise. Check out my review of the Beach Club for more info and photos. Tangolunda restaurant We enjoyed a fine dinner in this reservation only restaurant on the premises of Binniguenda. When making our reservation, we were provided with photographs of acceptable dress for dinner as it is a formal venue. As I was travelling light, I only had jeans as long pants, but as they were dress jeans, with no rips, they were okay. As for my shoes, I had white Sketchers, laced, so they were okay too. A collared shirt was also fine. The food was very good, though the portions were small. However, this is not a criticism as we did not go hungry at the resort at any time. This is a nice quiet evening and well recommended. Thanks to Thonny and Noemi for great service.

Stay away from this hotel. This hotel has not had any updates since it was built in the 80s. The food was awful, only one restaurant in hotel and it was buffet style. I’m ok with buffets but this was beyond inedible. The rooms need to be updated, water spills from shower, musty smell. The only good thing about this place is proximity to local beaches. This hotel also uses pictures from its partner hotel NIRU, this hotel is not located on the beach nor is the beach club close, you are shuttled to beach club.

This was our fourth stay at the Binniguenda! We return to this hotel for several reasons. The staff is amazing. Special shout outs to Julio, Ulises, and Talia and Najeli at the front desk who were always so warm and welcoming. Javier and Enrique at the beach made our stay very memorable with the kayaks! We really appreciate their support. The women who cleaned our rooms did an exceptional job!! The hotel cleanliness is outstanding. And we really enjoyed the opportunity to try so many regional dishes. Overall staying at the Binniguenda was a great experience.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. This is probably the worst all inclusive hotel I have been. Starting with the website prices, they are all wrong, the prices are way higher and it’s definitely not worth it. The bathrooms are disgusting, you can’t never flush them well, the pillows smell so bad, they have dumb rules, the music sucks and the main thing I think it’s the food, very limit options and it’s not good. I have been in many all inclusive hotels in Oaxaca and around Mexico and this one is not worth the money, I would recommend instead Secrets or Dreams, even Las Brisas or Barceló. I forgot to say there is not parking, also whenever you get there and you want to check in it’s very crowded and they don’t care about you until an hour after. Latin music is amazing and this hotel did it so wrong with it too. It wasn’t loud enough in order to even listen to the song and you can’t have a speaker or even request a different type of music, all old sad Spanish music. The hotel is very very small so if you want to have your own space and have peace and enjoy your vacation, don’t book over here. The only good restaurant is not even in the hotel, you gotta drive over there or take their bus, the restaurant they have on the hotel only has “wings, burgers, fries or pizza” which was very disappointing considering we wanted to try local food.
