Colorful, cozy rooms feature gauze-draped beds and eclectic, European-inspired furnishings. Wi-Fi is free, and all rooms have TVs with cable channels, plus private bathrooms. Some rooms offer views of bustling Columbus Avenue. Amenities include a pastry shop adjacent to the hotel. Excellent base to explore SF while pretending you're Kerouac or Ginsberg. So much history in the hotel and the area, great restaurant, bars and cafes, and locals. I downgraded to a small street facing room and loved it - stayed for a week and was sad to leave. The hotel is a time slip so its shortcomings add to the charm. But visitors should expect to carry their suitcase up a flight of stairs to reach the reception.

Loved our stay here, lots of character and charm and great location in the centre of North Beach with restaurants and cafes nearby. Loved the sherry in the lobby 4-8pm.||Only downside was room quite small and also stairs to climb with heavy bags. No breakfast either. But the charm and the character made up for this.

This a cute lil hotel close to yummy restaurants, the staff is very nice and helpful. Buyer beware the pic posted on Expedias site is incorrect so to me they are false advertising. That being said if you are disabled or have knee issues fyi skip because it is an older building, there is no elevator, steps only. No AC so it gets very hot and window in room does not open they do have a very tiny portable fan they provide, no fridge, no microwave, tiny bathroom. If you are looking for luxury keep moving along. But if it's maybe friends out to party and come and sleep you may like it, they use actual Keyes to access hotel and your room. It can get loud at certain times of the night.

Gorgeous little place with tons of character in the heart of downtown San Francisco! Walking distance from so many great restaurants and night life. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for a conference. This hotel came up in the exact area I wanted to be and the price/location were both good. This hotel is not what you want, if luxury accommodations are what you need. This hotel is more like a great place for single travel when you want a quiet and convenient location. While staying here I never saw or heard but maybe one other guest, even though the hotel was fully booked. If you stay in the front of the building, you will hear some street noise and night life but honestly I like that so it was welcoming background noise while asleep.

Nice authentic Hotel, we loved our stay. Service was good, every thing clean. It's an older building in the City. the rooms at the front are brighter but louder. there are smaller and more spacious rooms. you feel a bit transported back in time. Breakfast opposite at El Greco is recommended. also very authentic.

A great balance of location, price, and quality. This isn't a fancy place, but it does have a touch of the historic. The rooms aren't big, but big enough. The location in Little Italy is great, just north of Chinatown. The staff was very helpful and friendly.|A couple of other notes: This is a walkup from street level, so the lobby is on the 2nd floor (and our room was on the 3rd floor). We were fine with the stairs but they might be a problem for guests with mobility issues. Don't know if there might be an elevator in the back somewhere but we didn't see one. Also, no A/C but our room had windows that opened to an interior "lightwell" for added ventilation.|I would absolutely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel itself can be a little noisy but that’s purely due to the great location. Our room was kept spotless and we loved the little touch of sherry in the afternoon. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and the bed was very comfortable.
