Hôtel Bon Port

We chose this hotel mainly because of its location, very close to the Christmas market. Since we were traveling by car, we had the same challenge of finding parking. We used the shopping mall parking, but it is quite expensive. The hotel reception is very small, in typical European style, and the elevator is also small. The room is a good size but lacks maintenance. The bathroom, in particular, needs improvement—the shower is very small and water easily spills out, which causes the bathroom to get quite wet. Breakfast includes cheese, ham, fruit, and bread, and I found it to be good.

Avoid at all costs – arrogant male manager & discriminatory attitude The male front desk manager is extremely rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. No greeting, no respect, and a clearly discriminatory attitude. Totally unacceptable for a hotel in Switzerland. The hotel is very old and poorly maintained, with a badly sunken mattress. The service does not match the booking, and there are unjustified and poorly explained charges / deposit issues. This property does not deserve a 3-star rating. At best, it is a 2-star hotel or closer to a hostel. I strongly advise against staying here. Dont Stay Here!Dont Stay Here!

Clean room in a convenient location to visit Montreux. The price was very reasonable compared to nearby properties. The staff was very friendly. The room was dated but clean, only dust was under the bed I discovered only because my kiddo dropped his toy from McD's underneath. Noticed a small problem with the bed at the same time and the staff was grateful for pointing it out to be fixed. Breakfast is a very simple continental breakfast. Again, location was great, everything on our list of things to see was within probably a 15 minute walk except the Chillon Castle which we had planned to visit on our drive out of town. Good overall, would stay again if I go to Montreux.

The male receptionist is very rude!!! Never met such a person in my life and he is totally ruining our holiday mood there. Not helpful at all, being so mean, arrogant, wont listen to what customer trying to say. Even trying to have a bet with customer when we questioning regarding our rooms just to make sure everything was right. Toilet is so dirty. Barely can shower due to low water pressure. Pls avoid this hotel for better experience in Montreux!!

This was a deeply upsetting experience. The MALE receptionist was hostile, rude, and intimidating, and his behavior made me feel genuinely uncomfortable and unsafe. Instead of being helpful, he was confrontational and dismissive, which is shocking for a hotel reception desk.||He shouted at customers in an aggressive and intimidating manner, which was shocking and unacceptable.||This is not just poor service — it’s disturbing behavior that no guest should ever have to tolerate. I am especially concerned for solo travelers and vulnerable guests. If this is how customers are treated at the MALE front desk, it raises serious concerns about the hotel’s overall management and standards.||BETTER DON‘T STAY HERE！I urge future guests to be cautious, as my experience at the MALE reception desk made me fear for my personal safety.

Unacceptable Front Desk Behavior – Worst Experience of Our Trip This was the worst hotel experience we had during our travels. A middle-aged male front desk staff member wearing glasses was extremely rude, arrogant, and impatient from the very beginning. When we retrieved our luggage from storage, we were shouted at in a condescending way, as if we were children. When we raised a concern about our room, he initially refused to help. After repeated requests, he suddenly became angry and shouted in front of other guests: “If the room is really as you say, I’ll give you 100 francs — otherwise you give me 100 francs!” This was humiliating and completely unacceptable behavior for a hotel employee. The facilities were fine and other staff tried to remain professional, but this single individual ruined our final stop in Switzerland. We will not return and do not recommend this hotel.

Unacceptable Conduct by Male Manager – Discriminatory Attitude & Far Below Swiss 3-Star Standards||This hotel Bon Port Hotel Montreux was a major disappointment and far below what one would expect from a Swiss 3-star property.||The most serious issue was the male front desk manager. His behavior was extremely rude, arrogant, and unprofessional. There was no greeting, no basic courtesy, and absolutely no willingness to assist. His attitude felt discriminatory, and I was treated with clear disrespect. This is completely unacceptable in Switzerland, where hospitality standards are usually high.||The service did not match the reservation, and there were unreasonable and unclear charges / deposit issues. No proper explanation was given, which raises serious concerns about transparency and professionalism.||The hotel itself is very old and poorly maintained. The room was worn out, and the mattress was badly sunken, making it uncomfortable to sleep. This property does not meet 3-star hotel standards in Switzerland. At best, it is comparable to a low-end 2-star hotel or a hostel.||I strongly advise travelers to avoid this hotel, especially if you value respect, fair treatment, and honest service.||This hotel urgently needs a review of its management and service standards.||Dont Stay Here!

Our team stayed at the Bon Port Hotel for a few days on business. Mr. Goncalves gave us a very warm welcome. We were asked what time we would like breakfast and they accommodated our request. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly and we will definitely stay there again on our next trip!

Starting with the beddings there was a few broken springs in the mattress. The pillows were fairly empty like sleeping with only the casing. Into the shower there is no hard walls on a box shower footprint. The spray for the shower is stuck on mist and is impossible to not get a minimum a gallon of water on the floor. This means there is black mold everywhere in the curtains to the grout. The air is stagnate requiring the windows to be open. On a first floor you would think you will be safe but it is at street level where someone could walk into the room. The trash is right outside this window and the trucks came twice in a 3 day stay. The walls are extremely thin hearing anyone in any room above, below, or sides moving or in the bathroom.

Problem: You're traveling in Europe with two teenaged boys and you're lucky if you can find a room with a bed and a foldout couch for all four of you. Solution: Rent two rooms, if you can afford it. And that's where the Hôtel Bon-Port comes in. It was affordable enough to rent two rooms, and just nice enough so that you were pleased with your choice. Nothing fancy- just clean, simple rooms. The breakfast (for 11 CHF) was more than adequate. Elea at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Best of all, you were an easy walk away from the beautiful lakeside promenade, the Freddy Mercury statue, and many shops and restaurants. We only stayed in Montreux for the Cheese and Chocolate Train, but I would recommend that anyone should come stay a night or two here. It's an affordable hotel in a beautiful city.

We needed a place to stay after a day of touring Gruyères and Broc (on the Chocolate/Cheese train) and settled on this place. We needed room for four of us, so we got two rooms. For our needs, as a budget hotel, it was actually better than expected. The location is nice: not too far and simple to navigate to from the train station, and you can follow the path along the water to see the Freddy Mercury memorial statue and find some restaurants and what I think is a shopping mall. The rooms were nothing special, but clean and quiet. The showers are pretty small by American standards, but functional. Be aware that the provided "all-purpose cleanser" is what you get for shampoo and soap. I found it worked fine for me, but my wife said the scent was too masculine and she needed conditioner. For Europe, I felt that the breakfast buffet was a bargain at 11 CHF/person. There was coffee, croissants (still warm when we arrived at the beginning of the service), juice, milk, cereal, muesli, fruit, meat, cheese, yogurt and more. Check in and check out were easy, both handled by Elea, who spoke English and also went out of her way to locate a feather-free pillow for our son with allergies. If we're ever in the area again, I would stay here. Montreux was not on our list, but it is a beautiful spot on the shore of Lake Geneva and worth a stay.
