We needed a place to stay after a day of touring Gruyères and Broc (on the Chocolate/Cheese train) and settled on this place. We needed room for four of us, so we got two rooms. For our needs, as a budget hotel, it was actually better than expected.
The location is nice: not too far and simple to navigate to from the train station, and you can follow the path along the water to see the Freddy Mercury memorial statue and find some restaurants and what I think is a shopping mall.
The rooms were nothing special, but clean and quiet. The showers are pretty small by American standards, but functional. Be aware that the provided "all-purpose cleanser" is what you get for shampoo and soap. I found it worked fine for me, but my wife said the scent was too masculine and she needed conditioner.
For Europe, I felt that the breakfast buffet was a bargain at 11 CHF/person. There was coffee, croissants (still warm when we arrived at the beginning of the service), juice, milk, cereal, muesli, fruit, meat, cheese, yogurt and more.
Check in and check out were easy, both handled by Elea, who spoke English and also went out of her way to locate a feather-free pillow for our son with allergies.
If we're ever in the area again, I would stay here. Montreux was not on our list, but it is a beautiful spot on the shore of Lake Geneva and worth a stay.
