The 7 Best Hotels in Sydney (Updated 2025)

"Facing Bondi Beach, this three-star boutique hotel offers private and shared balconies with sprawling beach views and a modern, minimalist design. Rooms are large and bright and include Wi‑Fi, a desk, TV, and a coffee/tea maker; deluxe rooms have kitchen facilities and there’s an on-site restaurant. While the hotel itself isn’t anything to write home about, the price for the location is fantastic—after all, Bondi Beach is right across the street." - Matthew Kepnes

Room and bathroom were dirty, not as advertised at all online, alot of maintenance issues with the building itself that clearly haven’t been fixed or acknowledged judging from other reviews too. I had the same issues which I didn’t look honestly until after my trip. e.g. windows banging against old frame all day that had warped due to heat or wear and tear over time, bathroom fan cannot be turned off, so constant buzzing next to your bedroom. Uneven flooring with hotspots due to I assume electrical cabling underneath, feel like you’re gonna fall through the hallway floors with uneven squeaky wood covered by dirty carpet to mask it, lifts make scraping noises constantly. Walls are paper thin, so can hear your neighbours as if they were in your room even in the day time. Pub downstairs is decent for the price, but if you’re staying at the hotel itself. Pick anywhere else. Place is a dump honestly that clearly lives off its location more than its service and accommodation. The money is made downstairs along with the pokies machines clearly so there’s no incentive to fix the hotel itself. Don’t give this place your money. Outside noise can be understood to a degree, as you’re given earplugs for your stay which should be warning enough to leave, but you’ll be annoyed with the noises internally more than outside on the strip. That’s if you can get past the dirty bathroom and stained towel upon your arrival.

Genuinely never seen the like of this anywhere. About 5 customers were standing waiting to order food and drinks at the bar. I was waiting to order dinner and a drink. For some reason the manager (?) decided this was the time to conduct some sort of training session. Perhaps she was a rep from Diageo or something? She was holding the attention of every single member of floor / bar staff at once in a sort of huddle giving guidance to them how ‘Guinness is very popular these days’ and some other inane nonsense. There was no acknowledgment whatsoever to any of the customers waiting. I gave an indignant look to the pleasant bar staff who had been previously serving me and could tell from her look she knew what was happening was ridiculous. Honestly flabbergasted. If you need to hold training talks then don’t do it in the middle of your happy hour when customers are waiting to be served. I walked out, went elsewhere and I won’t be back. This occurred just after 5pm on Thursday 30th of October.

All in all 8 had a great stay here. The Hotel is beautifully old and so very well maintained. The rooms are good and the cleanliness is top rate. Could not fault it. Food in the bistro was excellent and staff friendly. 😃 Reception staff were very friendly and were very helpful with any of my questions where to find things or anything I asked. Only draw back was the noise in the street at night. Gotta say though the Hotel supplied ear putty which certainly helped alot. I would definitely recommend. 👌

A basic hotel which could do with some upgrades and a good clean. The room was small with two single beds but the bathroom was spacious which was pleasing and the shower was great. It was most annoying that I paid over $100 more for my room than my colleague who was also staying for the same conference. I also asked for a tax invoice on check out and was told it would be emailed to me, however, I am still waiting for that to happen. |On check-in I requested a quiet room as I had read the reviews about night club noise. I was assured my room would be away from the noise, however the music blared until about 3.45am, which was interesting given that by 11pm when I left the bar there was nobody in the place. The hotel does provide complimentary earplugs. |Check-in staff were friendly, but extremely slow and the reception was cramped in an entry way to the bar. It also smelled bad. |The view from the shared balcony was excellent and the position of the hotel couldn’t be better. Views of Bondi Beach were spectacular. |I didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant however, colleagues reported the food was good.

Unfortunately what should have been a nice evening to catchup with 2 other friends for dinner, the night was bitterly soured when after ordering dinner we were told all 3 of us were "cut off" at the bar. This was a surprise to all 3 of us as we had arrived at the restaurant area completely sober and had only just ordered 1 round of drinks between us ,before being declined any further service. We finished our meals and left totally dumbfounded by what had just happened. Unfortunately a good venue in such a good location ruined by incompetent staff and management. Disgusting. 1/10. Food was average. 5/10.

Google
A clean, well maintained hotel with easy beach access. Great view from the balcony. We had a kingsize bed that was so comfortable. The shower had instant hot water. A fridge and kettle with coffee and tea.

Google
Hotel right at Bondi Beach. Good value for money. Especially the balcony was spacious and offered a great view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would return, if I visit Bondi again.

Google
The hotel was good value rooms clean very comfortable, only issue we had was a constant noise in the room we had When you were trying to sleep, ear plugs were supplied for our comfort.

Yelp
Location is great. Restaurant is meh. Service is ok depending on who is helping you. We like Van(?). The bathroom is small and the sink is the smallest I've ever used. Parking is like going through a James Bond movie - you need to enter 4 passcode protected entry points to park your car and come up to the lobby! There was a kitchenette in room 208 and shared balcony access which were nice. But I'll say that this is the dustiest hotel I've EVER BEEN in! The lamps, nightstands, and curtains are DUSTY! Gross.

Yelp
Great location! This hotel is located in the heart of Bondi Beach, and one of the few hotels with an ocean view. The rooms are quite small, but that is just most accommodation in Sydney. It's a big expensive city. We came in the off season, September, so we got a great deal on the room. Our room was cute and clean and bed was comfy. The room is attached to a shared porch area. Still nice to sit out there on the chairs, relax, and have some drinks. The hotel also has a restaurant attached. The restaurant has specials throughout on the week on food. They also have a happy hour which isn't too bad. Beer and Wine only. Food is pretty good. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is a pain in the area, not sure if the hotel validates parking nearby in one of the garages. I didn't have a car when I stayed.

Yelp
This was the worst hotel stay. My original room they had blood on the sheet, hole in wall. Door had a 1 inch opening at the bottom to the outside and air didn't work. They moved me into another room after refusing to refund my stay so I could leave. I heard a beeping and barking a sound from the middle balcony all night. I tried to call but no one was at the desk. I left at 6:00am and they still had no one at the desk.

Yelp
After a chill afternoon at Bondi beach with my cousins, at around 430PM, we decided to go to a Happy Hour. I didn't realize how near Hotel Bondi was from the beach! The Pub/Bar is huge and was full of people by the time we arrived. Also, with the number of people who were there, it was surprisingly quiet. I guess everyone was just a relaxed as we were. There was a promo on the Tooheys. So, we all ordered that plus some munchies. We ended up staying til around 7PM. Ended up doing 3 rounds too. This hotel would be perfect for a beach holiday! The views from the rooms look directly at the beach. Can you imagine having a beer by the balcony with a sea view? Awesome! :)

Yelp
Okay, it's a pretty nice pub in a great location (not that I'm a huge fan of Bondi Beach, but I'll put that aside for a bit), however that is where the problem lies - everybody seems to want to be a part of this place, which means that on those really nice days when half of Sydney all flock down to Bondi Beach to do whatever one does at Bondi Beach, this place gets packed. When I came down here the last time I was in Sydney the plan was to have lunch here, however when I discovered that there was going to be a forty-five minute wait, that idea went onto the scrapheap. It does have a nice beer garden out the front, and the staff are pretty cool, however the crowds on those hot days makes this place very difficult to find a place to sit.

Yelp
I noticed there are new management to bistro food at Bondi hotel. Food is now more variations, and presentation is now taken to next level, look clean and fresh. Lunch was $15, which consider ok since you also paying a good view from this hotel on alfresco site. Protein choice are included crispy pork belly, rib eye in the bone and top sirloin, for you that having a healthier choice, crispy skin Damon looks amazing as well. I noticed beer battered barramundi fish and chips are flying from the pass window, maybe next time I should try that. They do also cater for vegetarian, Beetroot and quinoa salad Looks amazing, and also they have ricotta and roast pumpkin lasagna ... My new favorite place for good meal around Bondi

Yelp
Walking by, we got sucked in by the Happy Hour sign. Too bad it as only for Monday -Thursday...and it was Sunday. Regardless, they had drink specials. My brother ordered himself a mini pitcher of light beer, which he was sure was watered down. I was smart and ordered a glass of red wine. The following day we came back and got the happy hour. For me; spring rolls and another glass of wine. For my brother, the same mini pitcher of beer and a shot of vodka (ick!). I have a sneaking suspicion the cook made me my dish special because it wasn't on the menu and took more than a few minutes. Not that I minded. We had nothing buy time on our hands and were enjoying taking the whole scene in. While the drinks we ordered may not have been note-worthy, it really is the best place on the beach to people watch. It's also the loveliest. The prices weren't bad, considering, and the service was very good. I am all about atmosphere, so my high rating goes to the overall look and feel of the outdoor bar area in which we spent 2 afternoons.

Yelp
Beautiful stay in prime location of Bond Beach. Quaint bar and great food are served. I thought my room was beautiful and my bed was comfy. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great spot in a happening part of Bondi Beach

Yelp
Hotel Bondi is a landmark in Bondi Beach, and that makes it both good and bad. Every time I have been here during the day it's been a great relaxed experience, just chilling with a few mates over a couple of beers. The atmosphere is standard Aussie pub, i.e. a haven for tourists, and backpackers, who don't seem to get too rowdy during the day. During the night, it changes personality completely. Due to the fact that they're the only large venue open after midnight in Bondi Beach, the masses of tourists flock to this place. To the outdoor seating, the pokies, the pool hall, the lounges, the restaurant and bar food open late, the huge screens showing every flavour of sport imaginable - All attracted the mostly European tourists. Unfortunately, the bouncers love the crowds too, but even more than that, they love their power in controlling the crowds. This is a strict place (and it should be) infamous for literally picking people up and throwing them out, as much as they're notorious for picking fights, holding grudges, and not allowing themselves to be convinced by logical arguments on the soberness of patrons. Food wise, it's a pretty basic staple of pub food, nothing special, a definitely not a menu which is exciting and relevant to the location. This is solely a place for big groups, who are about to go somewhere better, as their friends can't get in past midnight.

Yelp
Great food, ambience & service was friendly, attentive & fast. Weekday deals of lunch or dinner for $15! Nice & quiet around 7pm Fri night.

Yelp
3rd night here and it's been perfect; this hotel is right in the middle of Bondi beach and literal (can walk barefoot) to the beach. Everyone is so nice. Having dinner tonight; the pumpkin seed salad with chicken and a glass of Pinot noir. Dinner is perfect not heavy.

Yelp
Friendly front desk staff, great location and spacious rooms! This place is a 10 for location! The community balconies are very convenient, if our door worked to be able to get to it... a quick walk down the hall provided access.

Yelp
Average food with generous serves that comes out pretty quick from the kitchen. Well below average service from disinterested staff that obviously would rather be somewhere else. Cold beers though. Pity it was Monday and a lot of better restaurants were closed.

Yelp
It's garbage. Only still up and running because of the location but service, food and drinks are awful. Don't waste your time so many better places in bondi!

Yelp
Brought my family of four here after 5 hour drive down from Port Macquarie. My daughters were hungry and the pub did not disappoint. The $15 specials were dead on. Good assortment of beer and staff were very accomplished.

Caroline P.

Yelp
The hotel itself may be nice, but we were here to celebrate a night out. The staff (managers and bouncers) could not be less welcoming and less accepting. The level of sexism in this club was disgusting. If you are a supporter of equal rights, this is not the place to be, as they eagerly support male dominance. My friends and I did not feel comfortable or safe here.

Torey M.

Yelp
Hotel common areas & outdoor space was nice HOWEVER; the rooms on the interior (without an ocean view) are a bit dingy. The rooms were small which is expected for the location, but the bathroom floor could use a good scrubbing and the sheets were basically burlap.

Yelp
Had a nice meal and some drinks with friends on a Saturday afternoon. The salt and pepper calimari was delicious. The view is nice from the patio seating, but I'm sure that's true of anywhere around here.

Yelp
Stick to the steak or chicken schnitzel. Its a bit overpriced but usually decent. The fish and chips and salt and pepper squid are not worth the price and I'd imagine a lot of the other dishes to be the same. It would be 3 stars but its overpriced for standard pub food.

Yelp
most importantly, this hotel went over and above to return my Ipad, they put time, effort, and cost into doing this. My ipad arrived in the states maybe a month later and that was due to their efforts. Returned in great condition and they did not charge me after giving my credit card number....awesome service and staff...hope to visit bondi beach again if i do basket of appreciate would be given!! Recommend to stay and feel safe! it was just my daughter and i traveling, very helpful

Yelp
We ordered a pitcher of beer and the beer came flat. When we complained the waiter took the beer and refused to get us another one. He also said we're not getting anything ells tonight and also didn't give us our money back. In a nut shell - terrible.
